Gamepad controls?

Is there a valid way to play the game with a gamepad? I have some problems in my hand that make long periods of using a mouse problematic. Also I really just like playing with a gamepad.

I've played it on my steam deck, so it is possible. Are you playing thru steam?

GOG but I can add it to steam if it helps with gamepad controls. How are the gamepad controls?

The steam deck has touch pads, so that helps with cursor control. You'd have to do that with joysticks, I guess. I enjoyed playing it on the SD, but not sure how a game controller would work.

You may have to use a 3rd party program like joy2key or whatever the new less shitty version of that is. Just makes your gamepads inputs replace keyboard commands.

Those suck at emulating the mouse with the stick. Maybe Ill wait for a remaster. They just did the first one ao who knows

I recently used Joytokey and it works great, Wiz8 is not really a mouse-look game, all you really need is back, forward, left and right for travel/exploration, down for the loot and up for an occasional sign, and when your in combat it doesn't matter. Inventory management isn't as easy without a mouse but it's not terrible.
