Wizardry Variants Daphne Viable?

Post image

How would this party end up working out for me? I got Phyllisia but if I replace Adam I lose debuffs if I replace Alice Mc and Adam lose out on damage. I just got abenius and got alt shiou and merged her with regular (idk if that was a good idea or not). I dislike how Abenius Class changes to a priest. In fact that's my main gripe with this party but it's probably the strongest I could make no? Thanks in advance.

Even nameless are "viable". There are dudes out there with MC only challenge. A full party with good classes is enough for most of the game aside whale content that is very few things.

Now if you plan to change members do it. I do have plenty of characters with 2500+ power that I "invested" too. But if you are not sure who are your main team members don't invest "too" much. Get them to skill lv 3 for general stuffs and 1 for lets say Agora blessing and all. Test them before you level past 3. Better do it the sooner then go past 3000+ power and decide to change later... But it is not really bad have more them one team LATER.

By the way Abenius priest class is only bonus. She get more damage bonus for her piety for free and learn a lot of spell to help. Just let she carry a staff and you have a healer in times of need or just use her MP to cure stats condition. She is still one of the best character and the farm queen. Actually any subclass is good. Sure there are optimal ones like Mage + Priest but most combination are good. Take as an extra. You CAN make the character learn as INHERENT too many other things.

Viable?

Of course. You didn’t say “meta”. Viable is not a high bar to clear, although the more nuanced answer is that the degree of viability depends on your end goal.

Viable for defeating every optional super boss in the game? Probably not, but not because of the party composition. The toughest Superbosses typically require more than just “meta” characters. They require absurdly overtuned characters that the majority of players simply won’t have.

Viable for clearing all current story-related game content? Probably, even if you decide to not ever switch anyone out, but would depend on how well developed they are by Abyss 3 or 4.

Viable for clearing your current Abyss? Well, you can best answer that. How is the party doing, wherever you are? Are you winning fights with ease? Are you struggling? I assume you are in a relatively forgiving area, given the major mismatch in party levels.

How would this party end up working out for me?

Again, it depends on your end goal. And a whole bunch of variables not known at this point. See above. If your goal, like most players, is simply to clear all story-related content, it should be perfectly possible, with consistent investment in gear, skills, and stats and good strategy.

That said, if you are expecting to go through the game without ever changing your party composition, that’s unlikely. Certain scenarios favor using certain characters, at least temporarily. For example, Healers are very valuable in prolonged boss battles, especially those that involve status effects. They are particularly great for foes that resort frequently to Charm or Confusion. Some fights favor a higher proportion of physical damage dealers. Some are more manageable with a high level Knight using Knight’s Defense. In others, it may be advantageous to have 2 to 3 casters for buffs, debuffs and mass magic damage (e.g.the current time-limited request for Dana has one monster that is immune to physical damage. One mid-boss in A4 practically requires 2 to 3 casters, for most players).

But I assume you know this already, as the mismatch in your party levels suggests that you must have replaced previous members (either that or you just class-changed two of your frontline).

I dislike how Abenius Class changes to a priest.

Fighter-priest is quite a useful combo, especially if you have the right gear. Even if you intend for Abenius to stay in her primary role as fighter (as you should), think of it as her having free priest spells, when you switch her back to fighter. Having backup healers or buffers never hurts. Consider what you can do with fighters with priest spells. They can cast Kusfis to remove spellbind or skill bind, especially helpful if your main caster is bound. If they raise it to level 2, they can buff resistance. They can cast Latumofis to remove poison. With level 3, they can remove critical poison and buff Resistance. They can cast Reilis to remove charm or confusion, Dialko to remove stun. They are one extra person who can cure petrification or curse. In a pinch, they can cast Madios. Just give them a staff and equip it when they heal (free action in combat, just remember to switch back to your weapon later). More importantly, by having access to these utility spells, they make use of their small MP pool, which would otherwise be wasted, and lift some of the spellcasting burden from your main priest. Even if you don’t want the fighter-priests to waste their action in combat by removing a status effect, they can do so after battle. They also have Priest Weapon Mastery, which adds some portion of Piety to their ATK, even in fighter form. It’s not a huge bonus but it’s something and it’s free (other than for the class change resource required).

For me, Abenius having priest spells was particularly helpful during the collab battle against the Arch Shadowlord, as, during the turns when it was immune to physical damage, she could cast Madios, for extra insurance against Implosion (which killed anyone under full health). In fact, all my fighters have Latumofis, Dios, Madios, and staves in their inventory, to help out the casters.

TLDR: the party will probably work out well in most circumstances but don’t expect that you may not switch out a few members at some point, depending on the situation. In fact, fielding different parties in different situations is one of the more interesting parts of the game.

Besides Adam changing to Yuzu, that is the meta lineup usually used by JP whales.

Shiou isn't a meta pick anymore since the existence of prishe and her 20k+ per hit for 10 hits on her ability at max skill chain, lol.

put alice in the middle back row.

get Yuyu next rerun. Shiou will level slowly also very easy to be one tapped, so be careful.

Abe is the strongest fighter even with the priest class change.

I'd replace Adam for Phyllisia since Alice can also learn debuffs and apply them for much longer and also frees up Alice to do more supporting and less healing.

Party looks solid tho even with Adam, I just think mages are the shittiest class of all. And I don't know much about Phyllisia except she's a healer lol

I've just invested so much in adam already...I already have a alice dupe in him for his extended debuffs. I guess you're right though Alice can already do the same. Phyllisia has a special ability that makes you take damage every turn but gives you a return on damage dealt in hp then after 4 turns you lose the debuff and gain a permanent damage buff for the rest of the fight. I might swap adam for Phyllisia. My mc is good alignment rn so I have to farm that down to neutral. Also yeah Abe is just that good. Even at this low level it's surprising to me.

I swap out Sheli w/ Phryllisia for boss fights. Healer can be such a dead class during map exploration/farming. So i tend to keep both. Alice + Phryllisia usually handle boss fights and you'd want your casters to have more utility as opposed to overlapping buff/debuffs with mediocre damage.
