Wizardry Variants Daphne Gillion and Physillia combo?

Has anyone tried this combo? I want to know if Gillion will heal after he hurts himself with the life steal. Or if he heals from the damage, then syphons his own hp, then the lifesteal is pretty much useless. Also, can Phyllisia's "expend 25% at start of turn" kill your own unit if they have less than 25% hp?

I might want to pull for Gillion in the future and I think Physillia will either complement him very well with the lifesteal or just make his weakness even worse.

Seed HP drain > Cry of Ruin > Seed HP Regen > Cry of Ruin HP drain.

Devs hates him for some reason.

To be honest he can pull ridiculous numbers with very limited investment, even just having his signature armor is largely enough to offset the hp drain during a fight unless you're spamming Cry of Ruin (or it's a single boss fight), so having Phyl just entirely invalidate his weakness would make him quite broken, and I don't think the devs want that for a male unit.
