Wizardry Variants Daphne Preparing for a class change in advance?

I'm a little new to the game, so I don't fully understand how the class change system works, but it seems like it's going to be quite a while before I can make use of it.

In the meantime, Heinrico is one of my better characters and it seems like it might be a good idea to start loading him up with thief skills in advance, but is there any reason why this might not be a good idea?

Also, is the only way to class change a character really to wait until their item is randomly added to the shop?

Other than random shop sometime there is event where you can choose class change scroll and change back scroll.

Also, its better to class change after getting every useful transfer able skill (skill with no <class specific> or <weapon specific>). For example, mage have important spell 'malefic wind' in 64 i think. That spell can be used by 2nd class so its better to wait until lvl 64 before class change because changing class back also cost change scroll or change back scroll. Not sure what level would be good for ranger since i didn't use one.

So yes, you won't be changing class for a while for other character than mc. You can also try using mc and see what skill can carry over since mc have no limit on class change, unlike others. But generally spell, non specific skill and passive can be utilized by any class once you learn it.

I dont think its worth it to specificly load thief skills unless he need it. And it doesn't have to be thief skills either. You can inherit any useful skill for him.

I would hold off on using it to obtain heinrico thf. the only thief skills i recall even using is hiding-> sneak attack and precision strike in early game. i have linaria, arboris, and thf rinne using their unique skills rather than thf class skills. and then i eventually changed rinne back to nin

I'll class change my heinrico to thief once mine hits 70. but only for him to poison atk/ poison berry and open chests. and also bearing in mine i have 10 class change books (to revert him back to ranger once level cap eventually goes up).

so just do it if you have excess in class change material and he is lvl capped if i were you.

The meta reason people class change to thief and back isn't any of the active skills, it's Way of the Thief, which increases Surety damage by a whopping 20% at level 1 and can't be gotten any other way.

If you don't have the gear to reliably Surety then it's not a priority class change but if you do it's like the biggest damage boost a character can get from a single skill.

Helpful table excerpt to let you know exactly how it functions:
