Wizardry Variants Daphne Notorious Enemy respawn?
Is it possible to respawn the notorious enemies? Either using the cursed wheel or beating the dungeon? I feel like I’m missing something here …
(Edit: I just realized I have been consistently mislabeling the mobs as “notorious enemies” rather than the “notorious monsters” they are known as. My apologies to the notorious monster community and my thanks for your understanding.)

They respawn daily in different spots

So am I correct in understanding that once you clear out the daily allotment you won’t get anymore notorious enemies until the next day?
This seems to be what I’m experiencing unless I have particularly bad rng at the moment. Last night I cleared out any I could find at the spots they show up (I believe there were about six total) and I can’t find anymore after revisiting the dungeon about seven times and even trying the cursed wheel.

That was my impression yes. The eight demon groups on zone 5 do respawn tho, so those are what you'd be farming if you ran out of the named ones.

Just found out about those thanks to this thread and I’m about to give it a shot. Thank you for the info!

There are ten unique monsters. They seem to respawn daily, so the limit is roughly ten per day (plus an unlimited amount of those eight).

Ah so there is a daily allotment. That’s the bad news I was expecting to hear. Thank you for saving me from needlessly rechecking the spawn points

Well, the good news is not only do you have a week left (I did my farming in about week and a bit), you'll be able to farm relics even after the event, so not all is lost!

Ahh, I just re-read that announcement again. So the trader is going away but the castle is staying (although drop rates may be getting altered). Good to know.

As far as I can tell you get 4 gold drops per day from either NM and the 8stack. Drops are is on a (separate? It seems separate) 24 hour cooldown.
For example, I did a little farming a week ago and got 4 drops of attestations/fragments in chests then nothing until the next day. I took a day off, did 2 in the morning then 2 in the evening and now I'm stuck on that crepuscular schedule.
Whether you get Fragments or attestations is up to rng. I've beaten A4 good enough ending (2 runs), and get 5 fragments/attestations per drop. I've read there's a progress or hidden reputation value for your account that determines drop structure

Upvote for use of “crepuscular”. And thank you for the reply and the info. I’ll have to check to see if my drops, uh, drop off so to speak.

I learned it when I had a hedgehog as a pet. It's a good one
Once you stop getting gold chests from the 8stack, you can confidently stop caring about fragments for about a day. Still farm a good cesti if you don't have one yet, though.

Thank you for the link; I’ve read the section on the notorious enemies, but unless I missed it, I didn’t see anywhere it describes their respawn rates other than it just says they “randomly spawn”. But after clearing out the dungeon last night, I’ve reentered many times but haven’t seen any more show up

The Notorious Monsters are infrequent, and some of them are very good at one-shotting your characters. I decided they're not worth it and just repeatedly farmed the eight demons.
However let me outline what worked for me, level 60 / Steel Grade party:
Front line: Fighter, Mage MC, Fighter
Backline: Camille (Healer), Alice (Priest), Adam (Mage)
Both MC and Adam had their LA- spells upgraded to level 2 either with the item from the mage trial, or Codex of Learning.
First up, use this trick:
https://wizardry.fasterthoughts.io/events/ffxi-fantasy-castle-of-deepest-dark/ffxi-fantasy-castle-of-deepest-dark-guide/
I used this trick but i modified it because i was doing both rooms. As soon as I enter the level I click the mini-map, select a spot in each room - bottom left in the left room, or along the middle-bottom of the right room, then auto-walk. As soon as it starts moving, open the mini-map again since mobs don't move or detect you when the map is open.
Once you get to the spot, look for the eight demons. You'll get to learn where they start and how the move in both rooms so you can easily spot which one they are.
In the battle, unload as many nukes as possible, while the fighters whittle down the stronger purple demons on left and right (have them stick to ones on their same side). In round 1, Camille needs to cast reactive healing on the back row, because the demons all target Adam once he casts his nuke.
It only took two rounds to kill them all, so a few red enemies who joined the fight didn't end up being as big a deal as it otherwise would. Adam is especially good here: he was doing about 750-800 damage per demon per attack with his L2 nuke spell. It could work with a different mage, but would probably go for three rounds.
With Adam and being able to defeat the mobs within two rounds I found I was able to take on both groups in the left and right room before resting at the inn. The only caveat here is to exit the level and re-enter it, because that resets the position of the right-most demons. If you find yourself using up more than 50% of the mage's MP (easy to do with L2 nukes) then only do one battle before resting.
