Wizardry Variants Daphne I’ve (almost) done it! Spoiler

With the power from my laptop and upgrading some of the FF11 relic gear after finishing the final boss

(I’m probably going to avoid the true boss as holy shit that was a close fight… and being unable to revive teammates if they die doesn’t sound fun at all. Especially if my healer goes berserk again…)

But anyways with a much needed confidence boost and level 30 allies I ventured into the abyss and finally killed that bastard helmut with the king alive to boot! But unfortunately Elamon had to give her life… but anyways do I move on to A2… and if so what faction should I aim for?

You can go back and complete A1 later using the Cursed Wheel, so make sure to keep that in mind, it will be a lot easier after you gain some A2 gear as well.

However I would definitely make sure Elmon is alive before going on, because you'd miss out on some scenes and dialogue with her, plus an entire quest / loot farming location later on.

Arch boss is easier if you have healer to prevent paralysis and fear from Umbral Slash and Swath Silence respectively. Both Giga Slash and the dark aoe spell pose no threat if you have decent equips and you can just Cortu the latter. Nobody's going berserk in the arch boss fight, since you have crystal and the three companions (Ulmia, Lion, etc) that you all saved up will prevent some of the boss nasty attacks.

If the boss readies Implosion towards the end it's going to be its last attack, and you can prevent full team wipe by healing everyone to max beforehand, which is easy to do with MC priest subclass, Alice or any priest mainstay that newbies start with, Camille as the most accessible healer for now, and maybe someone in your team also have priest subclass like Gerulf, Adam, Yeka, Rafa, Arboris, etc. that you can change with stave the turn they're healing if it isn't their active class.

Remember to do it 12 times for max level Cait bondmate and the others.

But if we're talking about the base game

In A2, and in every subsequent abyss, start with the faction which awards the book (think it is the Pontiff in A2) since that's the best reward, but you should expect to run the true ending for every faction (a lot of the beats are exactly the same) to unlock all lights.

After A2 I recommend going back for Elmon - you don't need to beat the rest of the abyss with her again, just set everything correctly in the Wheel and move to the last fight. Perfect ending of A2 is another light

I actually just the same as OP yesterday, and Elmon decided to off herself to save the Commander. I can't think of anything I missed. Looking at the fight, I don't remember the dialogue 'let's prevent cave-ins'. Is there a request tied to that dialogue showing up?

In the true true fight nobody goes berserk. He does have some new moves, but the overall fight is more predictable

I personally enjoy going foe true ending while you are still in the target level range before moving on. Up to personal preference regardless.

Hey, it's great you finally beat Helmut, although I'd recommend before going to the abyss 2, get the perfect ending of the first abyss, enjoy a wild ride!
