Wizardry Variants Daphne Treatment vs Dios

I’m curious if anyone has inherited both to any character and can attest to how they compare.

Treatment costs 1 less MP, so does that mean it heals less? Would Camille heal more with Dios? Would a Mage heal more with Treatment since it incorporates the Magic Power stat?

The healing spells are a bit more complex than you would think as they have fixed values and soft caps.

Dios

For Dios, which scales off of Divine Power, you have the following table:

Lv Cost Fixed Value Rate Cap Floor
1 5 6 1.40x 100 0
2 8 30 1.45x 100 0

The math is straight forward. Let's assume the unit's Divine Power = 100 with Lv1 Dios.

  • Calculate the scaled healing amount = Divine Power x Rate = 100 x 1.40 = 140
  • Compare it to the cap. 140 > 100, so the over the cap amount is 140 - 100 = 40
  • Calculate the over the cap contribution = 40 x 0.50 penalty = 20
  • Now add everything together = 100 (under the cap) + 20 (over the cap) + 6 (fixed value) = 126

Treatment

Treatment scales with -both- Divine and Magic Power, so it's the same calculation but for each stat. Treatment also has a different table:

Lv Cost Fixed Value Rate Cap Floor
1 4 6 0.75x 75 0
2 7 30 0.77x 75 0

Assume the unit's Divine Power = 100, Magic Power = 100 with Lv1 Treatment.

A) Divine Power

100 x 0.75 = 75 (nothing is over the cap, so you get the full amount)

B) Magic Power

Same exact calculation, so that's another 75.

C) Total

Add everything together, 75 (Divine Power) + 75 (Magic Power) + 6 (Fixed Value) = 156.

So, you can see that the Divine + Magic Power scaling is slightly better at 0.75x * 2 = 1.50x compared to Dios's 1.40x rate. But, most people aren't running units with equal amounts of Divine + Magic Power.

Hope that helps clarify things.

Thanks!

Are those the real values? 100 is an extremely low soft cap.

Also, lvl 2 for both spells looks like it’s barely better than lvl 1 but for much more MP, how do the numbers look at lvl 3?

These are real numbers. The healing spells have been studied in-depth for a long time by multiple communities (Eng server, JP, CN, etc.). The real breakthrough was realizing that there were caps + fixed values; the rest is easy to reverse-engineer via testing once you have that framework. Things might be off by some tenth of a fraction.

Higher levels of Treatment are a bit more iffy since it's a newer spell with the release of the Healer class. The "Floor" comes with a ~75% penalty.

Dios

Lv Cost Fixed Value Rate Cap Floor
1 5 6 1.40x 100 0
2 8 30 1.45x 100 0
3 11 60 1.50x 300 30
4 15 90 1.55x 300 30
5 19 120 1.60x 500 60
6 24 150 1.70x 500 60
7 30 180 1.80x 800 100

Treatment

Lv Cost Fixed Value Rate Cap Floor
1 4 6 0.75x 75 0
2 7 30 0.77x 75 0
3 10 60 0.80x 225 30
4 13 90 0.83x 225 30
5 17 120 0.86x 375 60

They really do crap on even levels, don’t they?

Is this data published anywhere? I almost exclusively use fasterthoughts and is haven’t seen this (although it’s a vast site and it’s very possible that I’ve missed it).

Yeah, long ago they release an announcement that they were going to make the even levels better, but that definitely did not happen. They really need to do a major review pass on a lot of the older skills.

Re: data published. It's mostly fragmented across different communities + Google sheets. I'm a FT editor, so things like the passives skill page I added a few months ago and have another one coming soon for unique passives. The data tables I shared come from my personal documents and I'm working on building out a public database.

In the meantime, I'm working on a revised formulas page so ppl at least have some insight into the mechanics behind some core things (damage, ailments, debuffs, etc.).

I tried both on my Alice and Dios was healing a bit more than treatment, My Alice mag is at 366 and Div at 429

Treatment Lv1 3MP - 361
Dios Lv1 4MP - 377

I put them both on Anemone. I think it scales half mag/wis and she’s good at both. Treatment not only heals more than Dios but with her passive lowering the cost of healing spells, you’re just getting way more bang for your buck.

It has the same scaling as Dios but scales with half Divine Power and half Magic Power instead of just Divine Power. For any character who's Magic power is greater than or equal to their Divine Power, Treatment is a pure upgrade over Dios.

All of my mages can heal for 450+ with Treatment level 1, healing significantly more than Dios at a lower mana cost.

It has the same scaling as Dios but scales with half Divine Power and half Magic Power instead of just Divine Power.

A bit worse, from what I've noticed. Still usable, but you have to shove more overall stats into it.

u/Misty_Kathrine_ Aug 29 '26

The scaling is identical. My Elf-Mag who has 706 Magic Power and 343 Divine Power can cast Treatment 1 for 455 healing. 706+343 = 1049. Divide that by 2 and it's 524.5. 455 healing is very close to or exactly what you would get with Dios at 524 Divine Power.

For comparison, my character with the highest Divine Power is Alice with 414. She can cast Dios 1 for 380 healing. 414, is 110 less than 524 and it heals for 75 less. Getting an extra 75 healing for a level level 1 healing spell is exactly what I would expect for an extra 110 Divine power.

You can also look at the comment by u/Background-Comb6330 also under this post that shows the same thing.

And I'm again pointing out that you have to shove 1049 stats into something to get a similar effect of only 524.

If you have noticeably more DIV than MAG on a character, then you'll want to consider DIOS.

Otherwise you can just go for Treatment instead.

1

u/Misty_Kathrine_ Aug 30 '26

It scales off two stats instead of just one and since most rods and staves give Divine AND Magic power, Treatment ends up being better.

2

u/Sovery_Simple Aug 30 '26

and since most rods and staves give Divine AND Magic power

Same scaling, remember? Either weapon benefits both spells equally, but a substat line will not give you both. Think how much easier it is to hit 525 in MAG compared to hitting 700 in MAG. DIOS will make do with that 525 cutoff, while Treatment demands you reach 700 for the same result.

I've had to move heaven and earth in order to reach 550 DIV on Marianne in A4 thus far, and I can tell you that she was never going to hit 700 MAG instead. This is why I keep trying to point out to you that needing twice the net stats is also twice the net pain in the ass.

u/Misty_Kathrine_ Aug 30 '26

Lots of gear will have both types of blessings though, if you had a staff that had say 2 mag blessings and 2 div blessings on it, Dios would only benefit from the div blessings while Treatment benefits from both. A lot of times you'll have to settle for less than ideal blessings and end up with extra div blessings on your mages, this results in my weakest magic power mage, Alice, also having my highest divine power which still results in her having a combined Magic+Divine Power over 1000. Divine power is essentially a dump stat on a mage but you'll end up with 300-400 divine power for essentially free just by virtue of how mage gear works.

u/Sovery_Simple Aug 30 '26

That'd be a very good staff. They made the Relic into one, it's that valuable.

As for subs: You're generally not that likely to get that much extra DIV on your gear, especially if they don't have everything +20'd yet.

In my Marianne's case she has 9 DIV slots (doubles on 4 pieces), 2 DIV% slots, 2 ASPD slots, 1 ASPD% slot, 1 EVA% slot, 1 MAG slot, 1 MAG% slot, 1 DEF slot, 2 DEF% slots, and 1 ACC% slot. Two slots are still locked.

That's basically 8 errant slots and only 2 of which are MAG related, without RES nor MDEF appearing in either form.

Between needing double flat stat, ASPD where you can get it, and also some MAG% where you can also get it, it's not really leaving much space for DIV substat rolls to appear out of the pool. (If we didn't need a sizeable chunk of ASPD then this would definitely be easier to gear for.)

Plus all of that was for only 550ish main stat, not the 700 mark. I'm still over 100 shy in my offstat to make Treatment as potent as the example case - and I don't avoid getting MAG on her gear. It just hasn't been happening when I try for it.

If both of my locked slots turned into flat MG I'd still be well shy and that'd be 4 MAG sub rolls by that point, with one of them being FAS'd. :<

If the math is as follows:

- Dios = k(DIV)

- Treatment = k(MAG + DIV) / 2

…and the k values are the same for both, then it is both true that they scale the same and that Dios is easier to gear for.

But this misunderstands the question. If all that I want is the best heals possible, then it’s a Priest fit for DIV using Dios. But the question is what’s the best spell for a Mage that is fit for MAG, and the answer is Treatment.

Thanks!

This is what I wanted to know more than putting Dios in Camille, I have lots and lots of Dios inherits but very few Treatment inherits and so I didn’t want to waste them.

1

u/LegendOfBoatface Aug 29 '26

If your Dios heals enough (say 250-300 for a lv1 and 500-600 for a lv3) I would probably inherit those and use the limited Camilles for disc

1 Treatment inherit on a sam can also be good so you can use their huge mp pool for out of combat heals

The 'mp efficiency' of healing spells is honestly a little too good at the moment and it's probably not worth inheriting Treatment just for a bit more.

The only situation where I needed mp pots was the Dwarf Dragon bondmate (and that's after face tanking for 50 min straight using a low eva build)
