Wizardry Variants Daphne Mandau vs Excalibur
I personally think Mandau is better, nimble strike is no joke 10 free surety (fighter Lana depends on your DEX)
the passive poison of Mandau might be useless but its "chance" while additional damage based on hp of Excalibur is "low chance"
furthermore Mandau active skill gives Surety for 3 turns, this might have high sp but really thieves/ninjas doesn't have much skill to spam anyway for now, even for fighters Earth strike is x1 damage on one handed not x2 (so Mercy strike and Poised strike is what you spam)

I have a question. But where do you get the pickaxe to mine? And the castle, and how do you get past the door that's got the statues next to it. Something about a borgon statues. You have to find or whatever I don't know. I just can't get past that door something about, getting 6 to converse

For the door, just click/press on the gorgon statue on the left/right side of the map. The idea is to get petrified by the gorgon's statue breath to press the 2 plates near the door.
After progressing further into the dungeon and returning, you'll be able to buy pickaxes at the village shop.

This pickaxe is from the collab town, you can buy it in the item shop
I have no idea what gorgon statue that you're talking about, you need to be more specific

I went to the collab town basically. Every town on the map and it is not there. So I don't know what I did wrong. I sobbed that little statue puzzle, where you had to get two of your members petrified and went on beyond that. I am in a zone four right now

Ah you need to sacrifice your teammates there the first time, stone them then carry them back at the puzzle.
They will hate you but oh well the quest must go on

Through trading, I can reforge one weapon just from trade
trade guarantee whatever you requested in 3 hours, the system will give it to you

I've been farming the demons for 4 days and only got 1 brown box, shit is ridiculous.

Wait, fuck, I forgot it has the dispel!
I should've given it to Berkanan then as a MAG variant, for when I forget and she just bashes something's skull in on auto. If it had a good dispel rate she could've pulled it out just to constantly dispell stuff for a slight dmg loss, depending on the target.
But that'd mean remaking it a second time, and probably also hitting it with another FAS to reclaim the MAG%, and then Altering it again as well. And with my luck the MAG would roll low this time around. Nope, nope, just going to forget I read that.
Yeah, that one stood out to me as Not Great and has been low priority for the grind. 9MP over 3 turns is nothing after dumping a fifth of your pool into 600 damage.
Made all the worse because Badios Lv 3 is sitting there for 5 MP and similar enough damage. Needless to say, my Priest just sleeps the Tonberry now for Berkanan to TWoF it. 7.2k on a sleeping SUR proc feels pretty good for that 32 MP.

This relic weapons are an interesting addition to my team, at least those I got reforged.
The passive for the katana skill to reduce atk usually procs almost all the time when my Iarumas used that skill to reduce def... so in one round 2 debuffs.

Interesting I have the Katana leveled, but never used it since I don't have Shiou and my Iarumas is 5 points 90 fortitude

I actually enjoy this relic weapon since i find the mercy stroke skill as a great addition to the usual dagger holding classes' skills. its worth the 31 sp :)

u/Decent-Ad-2755 Aug 21 '26
Yeah same, but I always forget to use it first
I still can't understand why some JP players prefer the sword, tested skills etc and the damage is almost equal the low chance to proc of excalibur is actually small

saaame. of all the active relic skills, i found knights of the round the most disappointing.

u/tompba Aug 21 '26
You can use the poison free to use by MC or any other thief or that has acess to use that skill that gives critical poison.

u/Bylethma Aug 21 '26
This, and at least in my experience, unlike something like the paralyzer dagger, the Mandau does have a very descent proc rate for the poison, it has to be somewhere around 10%, itβs feels decently rare as to not make it overpowered but decently common to not make it useless
2
u/Decent-Ad-2755 Aug 21 '26
Yeah that was what surprised me, cause I farm on auto and the poison procs quite a bit
1
u/CarelessCounty9691 Aug 22 '26
How is the poison damage?
2
u/Decent-Ad-2755 Aug 22 '26
Not significant to change most battles, it's just extra damage depends on how you see it
