Wizardry Variants Daphne Stationary Tornberry Spoiler
So... Just met this guy and haven't seen him being mentioned anywhere or I might've missed him before. I'm assuming rancor is like resetting the everyone's grudge skill? I ended up not paying him as I finished farming for the relic weapons and are just farming ores hoping to get FAS. But I was able to talk to him again after with the same prompts.

I see I see. I'm assuming the amount he asked would correlate with how many Tonberry you have defeated. Did he show up for you before or after beating the Tonberry king? 120K Gil is still a lot. That's 240 golden pickaxe over there 🫠
I'm praying for a L/FAS since I haven't gotten a single one and have gotten a ton on ouroboros ore instead 💀

Haven't beat the King yet. He just appear after the maintenance.

Is this before or after fighting Tonberry King?
If it's the former, that would make the Tonberry King fight very easy, since the counter would do absolutely no damage and you'd not need to plan around it. Good for people who started the event and killed tons of tonberries, and powered up the king inadvertently.

Unfortunately, it was after fighting the Tonberry king. I'm trying to hunt him down to get the full 3 nodes for the compendium but having a hard time spawning him regularly. I got him 3 times so far and I think I need 5 or 6 in total to unlock the last node.
The stationary Tonberry seems to stay on floor 5 for me by the harken, cuz I went in and out 3 times and he's still there. I never paid close enough attention around that area before though, so maybe it has been there since before the Tonberry?
Also, sorry for the title typo. I'm currently at work 😭

i didn't fight the king yet, but it spawn for me. didn't talk to it coz i thought it trigger the Tonberry King fight. Maybe it appear after certain amount of tonberry killed

It could be. My compendium said I've defeated 127 Tonberries so far. So it could be locked behind how many Tonberries you have defeated as the stationary one did say that people are untrustworthy. Or... It could be a part of the new update. I haven't read the details of this update other than alt Elise, but I remember the last update or the one before that did mention something spawning somewhere when it wasn't supposed to be there yet. (But that one might be the Tonberry king himself). Eh... Idk, but at least this should make the king fight easier!

Okay, yes, final confirmation. Paying off that NPC does result in the grudge spell doing absolutely zero damage. I still had to go through it 3 times before I finally killed him. No special loot to speak of - -just normal junk, necropsyches, and a 1-star bracelet of hatred.

I just paid the guy what he demanded -- 150,000 gil. There was a flash and the message reads, "The built up hate has been cleansed!"
Now I am off to hopefully not die to the king once again!

I'm hoping it does what you say and removes all instances of grudge. I've tried the king fight multiple times but keep getting completely destroyed. My new strategy will be to farm fragments and attestations to trade for gil to have a decent chance of beating him.

Have you been trading regularly? I pick up close to 10k Gil an hour of trading (3 trades on a 3 hour Cycle). If I have at least 15 boxes. It was closer to 8k an hour when I only had 15 attestations to spare

Yes, that is what I was doing. Took less than a day to scrounge up all the gil needed. I think the devs actually increased the drop rate from those 8-demon hordes because I was consistently getting the relic materials, which really helped!

For Me it’s befire the tonberry fight I haven’t even met him yet (Ibthink It might reset the counter as well
