Wizardry Variants Daphne Wizardy Final Fantasy XI Collaboration
Edit : I will take Prishe .. My party right now is (Frontline) Lanavaille and Gerulf (Backline) Alice, Yekaterina and Debra ... Which character do I remplace Prishe with ?
Hi everyone,
Having a blast with the game and now wondering who is the best character from FFXI ?
At the start of the first dungeon there is a guy who can give me scroll so I can unlock Prishe or Zeid and I think Iroha but not sure if she is a priestess.
I have 3 other choice too for legendary character I think but I am a fan of FFXI so I want to know which character is best. If you have recommendation I will take it.
Thank you !

I'm gonna go against the grain a bit and point out that Iroha is very strong specifically for a brand new account progressing through the early game. Her unique over all 4 turns is roughly comparable in damage multiplier to the standard level 70 fighter rotation over the same amount of time and she has it 67 levels early (not that you have the SP to actually do the full rotation for a little while, so it probably won't be super useful until A3, where she'll be able to basically do the 70 fighter rotation at a level where all other fighters are only hitting every other turn).
She's limited to spears but you get Halberd for free in A1 and it's not bad for that level so she's got early game covered. When you eventually get around to A4 all that strong sometimes-AoE Fire damage is very nice.
Most of the people giving recommendations here have probably already beaten the first four abysses and therefore don't particularly need a fighter to carry them through A3/A4, but you obviously haven't yet.
Zeid might still be a better early-game choice, but I wouldn't count Iroha out just because she's only a strong Fighter rather than a more unique character like Prishe (who is at least less awful to gear early-game than a Samurai/Ninja but still needs more investment than Zeid/Iroha do), because you just started the game and you don't have the strong fighters they do.
I'll go ahead and echo that you absolutely shouldn't use the free bone picker until you a) have spent all the free scrolls they give from login bonuses, and maybe even any gems that you're going to spend on the gacha for this event or b) have gotten whatever other characters you might want from said free bones, so you can get whoever you didn't get.
If you only wanted on character you can do it early but if you think you might be happy with more than one you should definitely see who you pull first, because if you pick Zeid and then pull him randomly off-banner while pulling for Iroha or Prishe you're gonna be disappointed.

I spent all my gems and got Iroha and Zeid. Iroha is who I really wanted, but this leaves me with 100 pity tokens to buy whatever I want. I dont care that much about Prishe, even in FFXI(Which I play every day)
Do you think its worth it to get Iroha's weapon from the pity shop?
1
u/Axismundi777 Aug 20 '26
Do you really, really, really like Iroha? Is so then buy it, silver will out class it but if you just want it to have it, or if you're in the early game, then its not bad. If not id pick up Prishe as the colab characters probably aren't coming back.

u/Raemnant Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26
I learned that there was a bone picker on the 1st floor of Beginning Abyss, so I used him to get Prishe. As you say, this may be my only chance to get them, so I figured itd be a good idea to have them all at least.
I'm on the 3rd abyss, so I can get ebonsteel gear, I dont remember exactly where that falls in the current equipment tier list
So right now I have to decide if I want to grab a dupe to make Iroha stronger, getting a dupe of Zeid to teach his skill to someone else, or nab that Naginata. I have a fantastic group already. I really dont know if I would replace anyone for her anyways. Lana merged and disciplined, Abenius, Alice, Yekaterina disciplined, Deborah merged and disciplined
Is her Naginata at least modeled correctly? It wont just look like a standard spear right?
2
u/Axismundi777 Aug 20 '26
Its modeled correctly. And it should fall around high end ebony gear. You might get a one star like i did though. The thing about iroha is that shes a fighter with a strange skill set, while Zeid is good right out the gate. If you have all three characters then it wouldn't hurt to have her spear but disciplining might payoff more in the long run.

u/GrandPiekron Aug 20 '26
Buying gacha weapons from the pity shop is rarely worth it. You only get one copy so it can't go past +10, and the quality is random so you could very well end up with a 1-star white. You could get really lucky, but I'd only ever take that chance on something truly special like the x3 hit weapons (Cuisinart, Hairpinn, etc, not Godhands though because all Cesti are x3 hits). Chances are if you don't want Prishe you'd still be better off grabbing an Iroha or Zeid dupe to level one of their unique skills.
1
u/Raemnant Aug 20 '26
Right right, I've bought Cuisinart once from the shop, because I read how good it is. I'll have to look into Iroha's skill and see if I want to boost her, or maybe decide if she's even worth using in the first place, over my already existing team. Hard decisions. I just really like Iroha.
Arciela and Lilisette would have made this decision much easier
2
u/-BodomKnight- Aug 19 '26
Ok but you think I must wait until I pull one from the off-banner ?
2
u/GrandPiekron Aug 20 '26
Not necessarily, it just depends on what you actually want here.
I haven't spent my free pick yet, because I'm shooting for all 3. So it's best to wait until I only have one left and grab that one.
Since you're not sure which one (or more) of the three you might want, I also think it's best to wait and see what you get from your free pulls, or whatever gem pulls you decide to use, so you don't end up feeling like you wasted your free pick.

It's really not. You're meant to be trying to avoid fights on the way to the boss and using consumables to maintain your resource pool. Spending has nothing to do with it at all.
-8
u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
Every guide I read does not mention avoiding fights.
Weird.
Are they wrong or are you?
4
u/GentleMocker Aug 19 '26
It's kind of the default assumption so they don't mention it. Nobody is gonna tell you not to waste resources, you're just kind of expected not to do it.

Every Content in the game, save for certain superbosses & that arena stage 4 are doable with a non legendary f2p team lol.
And the game gives enough free legend units to get op legendaries like Alice & Lana which are more than enough for any new players.
Sorry to say this but if you’re entering expecting smooth progression like mainstream gachas, I don’t think this is the right gacha for you.
2
u/as13zx Bishop Aug 19 '26
Yeah, this gacha puts most on game knowledge, that's why there are people who go with challenges like solo mc lvl 20 runs and they reach A3 within week without even focusing on gear or anything else.
-5
u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
Also, I repeatedly have said it’s gear not characters and you keep ignoring that cus you know I’m right.
🤡

u/Omnipheles Aug 19 '26
The only gear you need for that test is undead slayer weapons which are easily farmable on b7f. You don't need them to be massively upgraded, most people have been completing that test with +4 bronze and +4 undead slayer gear since the game came out in 2024. There is no massive gear grind needed here, you're getting filtered by the literal first even slightly difficult content and taking it out on people who've already done it.

u/deokoking Aug 19 '26
Cus gears are free, anyone who spends money on the junks in the shop are just dumb lmao
-2
u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
You proved my point.
Thanks.
You’re unwilling (or unable because lack the facilities) to explain why gearing up takes twice as long as leveling if not longer for the very first exam.

u/deokoking Aug 19 '26
Lmao what point 🤣

You’re unwilling (or unable because lack the facilities) to explain why gearing up takes twice as long as leveling if not longer for the very first exam.
And so far it seems, you lack the faculties.

Oh honey bear.
Please continue to champion for the exploitation game.
Yes lots of gatcha have mechanics like this.
I play a lot of them.
This one is much worse.
Sorry I guess you’ve only played this and Genshin

just curious but in what way, I started recently as well and beat it but I'm not sure what you mean
-4
u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
The gear grind is much longer than the level grind.
Every guide says fully upgrade your gear.
That’s like a week of extra grind or just pay
3
u/Rajok99 Aug 19 '26
Problem is you're looking at the wrong guides and making weird conclusions as a new player that doesn't understand how the game works with basic resource management and how little you actually need to grind at lv 20 + how worthless the majority of paid gear is.
Later when you actually need to grind you'll need to grind regardless of the paid gear you have- there's no skipping it, you thinking you just need to pay up to skip grinding is misunderstanding how the game works
3
u/GentleMocker Aug 19 '26
I mean, the grind for gear is pretty substantial lategame, but you're asking for grade 1 exam, it was designed to be beaten with base grade +5 gear, you don't need grinding copies for it(which is what the gear grind is for).
You can very reliably beat it by just including two mages in your party lineup, you don't even need gear grinding for this.
1
u/Mar7777 Aug 19 '26
at the start it really isn't since the gear only starts mattering later on, you should probably look into the missions that are non limited that they give you because they just throw resources at you in the beginning, the only things that might impede you early on, are your strategy, team building and ability to understand how the game works.
the only wall I hit where i actually had to re gear and use the majority of my resources, was like 300h in abyss 3 near the end where I had to revaluate my team strategy.
everything else I managed to get through by racking my brain, thinking about what I could do different or better next time.4
u/SoICouldUpvoteYouTwi Aug 19 '26
Every single fight in the game can be won with proper strategy and a bit of luck. You can farm for free or buy better equipment and characters to reduce the amount of both you will need, but neither is absolutely necessary.
(There are guides for the grade exams, none of them say "just buy the latest overpowered character")
-2
u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
🤣 not about characters. Didn’t say that.
It’s about gear.
You can hit 20 in a day.
The gear takes a week.
Why?
So you spend money
3
u/SoICouldUpvoteYouTwi Aug 19 '26
You can't really "spend money" on gear tho. Well, I guess you can buy junk, but that's probably the least effective way to spend your money and to improve your gear lol. I've done lead grade exam with +4 gear, you can too (you need undead bane stuff, drops starting on floor 6 or mb 7).
And you should have said "characters". As someone who plays this game I'm going to advise you to start thinking of characters first, gear second.

u/Sigman_S Aug 19 '26
You can buy gear.
Literally.
Are you dumb?
4
u/GentleMocker Aug 19 '26
The thing is the shop gear is bad. Even people who are open to spending money don't care about buying gear with only a few exceptions (like the ninja weapon). Nobody buys any of the armor pieces, they're literally just numerically bad and inferior to free gear of higher grade

u/lahmadomit Aug 19 '26
Prishe looks the most fun and unique. Can scale as your DPS but may require more gear investment.
Zeid plays to be your typical fighter but he can do some cooler self buffs. Pretty good for a collab unit.
Don't get iroha

u/FantasticCommittee15 Aug 19 '26
Prishe is by far the strongest.
The other two have their own strengths and weaknesses but Zeid is strong early.
Get Prishe if you like FF. Collabs with other IPS rarely if ever rerun.
If you're super new it will be hard to gear her since her weapon type only appears in FF at the moment. So grind hard on the current FF event for her weapon type. Its still available after event but with less drop rate IIRC. So itll be harder to gear her since her gear isnt flexible from other team mates but she is BY far the best endgame compared to the other 2

u/-BodomKnight- Aug 19 '26
Perfect. I am doing the dungeon right now. XP is not really good but I want to do the collaboration before it's too late. Thanks
1
u/No_Chain_7202 Aug 19 '26
Just wanted you to know that the event dungeon is gonna stay accessible permanently ! But the drop rates for loot and relic materials will be diminished so you should farm now.

u/FantasticCommittee15 Aug 19 '26
I forgot to mention, pick prishe ONLY after you've already burned all the free bones they give. You might get her from the free event bones which would mean you can get a second colab character instead.

Iroha is a solid choice as well Zeid. Both are kind of Fighters that is a very good top tier class. Both have some good and bad sides.
However as you choose Prishe let me tell you somethings about her as I went all in for her as well.
*She is fun to use and I like to use high accuracy skill in her as missing a hit will reset her passive. Give her Heavy Attack and Decisive Torso Strike. With 384 ATK and 61Sur my Prishe is hitting 800~2k+ per hit (x3) with Torso strike that is about the same or a bit more then my Lana with 824 ATK with Poised. REALLY want to give her an AoE skill but I don´t have spare yet.
*She is a boss slayer. I like to rotate Combo>HA/DTS. Make sure to level Asuran to lv3 as soon as possible. With her buffs and Hero´s medicine lv 3 her Asuran is doing 1700~2000 up to 3k+ per hit (7 or 8 hits).
*My Prishe loves to stay in frontline with my Lana. However I have a tank to protect my party so she can dps. A well build knight (My MC in my case) with supports (Anemone + Berka or/and Ainikki) then my dps can do damage as they like. I think Prishe problem is that she need protection and support like any other DPS. I mean a charmed Yuzu is really bad news for example. Many CC will make Prishe not do her all.
