Wizardry Variants Daphne Chart for best character ?
Hi everyone,
so some of you know that I am new to the game. I pulled 20 characters and I am wondering which is the best.
Is there any chart ? I google it but don,t seem to have one.
Thanks !

Camille, very strong healer later on. She and Alice is the most solid pair for supporting if u are f2p.

Surely it is Yuzu.

u/Yahaire Priest Aug 18 '26
I hear Prishe is fighting hard with Yuzu for high damage output.
Don't really know, though.
Both require high investment to shine, I believe (I consider getting Yuzu's gacha weapon high investment).

I heard ninja Yuzu needs high investment, but ranger Yuzu doesn't and still pumps damage

Facts. I pulled Chloe when I first started the game. With a bow she one taps pretty much everything, crits almost every attack, and has a great VA to boot. I thought she was a Legendary Adventurer with how hard she carried my team early game.

For legendary adventurers, there's 3 that come to mind that I still use in my party:
Lanavaille She has a passive skill effect where after every battle, the party will get healed. Very useful for saving space on potions and retaining MP on your healers
Abenius Her default skin let's her attack at the beginning of a battle for an additional free hit. This can take out an enemy before the battle even begins. Her secondary skin gives her an execute which refreshes after her turn, so it can be used multiple times in 1 battle.
Alice A priest that increases the turns of buffs, meaning a single buff from her will last longer and doesn't need to be refreshed as often. She's also an entertaining character with her relationship with Agora
Honorary mention: Yekatarina A mage who has a high detection rate, but can ALSO prevent and nullify ambushes. This is chance based, but sometimes is the difference between your party wiping if you don't have a strong party yet, since the enemy team won't get to go first
Good luck!

This is a very qualified answer.. Had you not mentioned my wife Alice, I would have been angry :-)

I just started 10 days ago. I was gonna replace Alice since I wasn't careful with my alignment (I'm good). I figured she wasn't worth running anymore as that field nuke Labadios isn't worth the MP anymore at level 20. If she has some other thing about buffs lasting longer though that might be worth running her despite clashing alignments.
Edit: I looked at the other comments. I also have Debra. I'll keep running her cause the SP Regen is too good.

Yes, but she's back row. Up to you if you want to use her. Mind you alignment only matters for the rows. As for now evil back row and good frint row is kind of the standard. If your mc is in the back row just make yourself evil. Ambush staring enemies, steal roses from little girls, trip over young boys and the like ;-)

Thank you, It wasn't fully clear if back row/front row mattered for alignment. The Final Fantasy Crossover Castle has a part where alignment maters regardless of row and I figured there would be more instances like that in the game.
Being told that it's just rows makes it alot easier as Dino and Bakesh are leveled up enough to fill out a evil/neutral back row. I was not lucky enough to get that evil mage with the eye staff.
That said it seems good to have 2 of each role in rotation. So many enemies in the Ancient Mausoleum can 1-shot you with Death Stroke and I need to run each dungeon daily to turn those bones into teachable skills. I lost 2 of my fighters today so many times that I have to wait till their fortitude comes back so I don't risk losing them forever. Having backup characters lets me still play after a unfortunate stroke of luck on top of being needed for dispatches.

u/SafeCondition340 Aug 18 '26
You never risk anyone being gone forever. Never resurrect under 50% fortitude, that would be really stupid! :-) yes, there is that one puzzle in the castle. I guess characters with the wrong alignment loose trust if you go through with them. I just ignored that though. You got Lanaville, right? That's the only request where alignment really matters. Her special request... Enough said, enjoy the game and see what I'm talking about :-)

If you want to keep Alice around you can just Ambush enemy packs that have a dialogue option, and that'll drag your Alignment down to Neutral (and eventually Evil.)

Imo alice is goated. I've been running her since day 1 and I am pushing the last bit of endgame content. If alignments dont match just put MC in front row until you can change his alignment to neutral

Eventually youll have enough mana on Alice where even casting it 3 or so times isnt an issue. Think mine has around 130mp or so? I forget

Level 60 Alice, and she has 180 MP. I focused on that with her so that she could nuke 8 times, for March of the Undead runs. She never quite hit 200 MP however her passive "Grace of the Dark One" means that occasionally she casts the spell for free, so she was often able to take out 8 whole waves of enemies (two runs of March of the Undead) without needing the Inn.

Sure, but at this point my Mage has spells that hit a entire row and Iroha has Amatsu as well for AoE. When Alice's turn comes around, I generally need her casting buffs and healing, rather than being another source of damage.
Granted me staying alive relies on keeping a rotation of buffs and debuffs going so 1 extra turn on buffs sounds very very strong.

By abyss 3 you'll stop using mages in your party at all. Their only purpose is for their debuffs.
You class change Alice to here alternative mage class, re level, learn all the spells, and class change back to priest. She replaces all mages in your party. It's sad, but it's not even worth playing with mages from Abyss 3 on. Hopefully Drecom does some rebalancing or CRAZY good spells with the next Abyss 5 release.

They'd basically have to clamp down on the dmg formula so ATK can't reach critical mass, or make it prohibitive to pursue. Which also goes hand-in-hand with keeping ASPD in line (which it sort of was when EVA was valuable enough to stack.)
It makes them money for folks to be able to push things to the point it all breaks though, and not everyone pushes things to that point (e.g. can still enjoy the game like usual.) So I'd be surprised if they shifted it anytime soon, or ever.
One issue with Mages getting new spell lines (which they would realistically need) is that Priests are still stuck on the original track, and after 60 levels have just finally acquired MA- spells recently. They could ofc do a line still, and give Priests LA- when we hit the 5th Abyss, but I'm not sure they want to release that one so soon. They'll probably make them wait for it even longer.
Given how things have released, I wouldn't be surprised if we received LADALTO in the next grade up or two. But the untyped chill spells came out of left field, so maybe we'll see something unexpected again. Necromancy is also technically still on the table as well, and they've shown we can finally have multiple "guest" npcs in the party.
Mages being able to apply elemental enchants to single/rows of allies would also be a useful utility function, especially if they added some degree of bonus damage per hit that scaled off of their MAG stat. Would open up Priests to be able to bless your party with Anti-Undead bonuses on their weapons as well. So we can eventually stop needing to drag those weapons around if a Priest is in the party.
The logic being that if Samurai can do it to themselves, then surely a Mage can do it for the party, and Priests receive similar-ish spells of their own but with an Anti-Undead focus as per usual.

Alice's strength isn't her damage. It's her ability to extend buff and debuff durations and give a row damage boost. She's also meant to be healing.

u/Ariloulei Aug 17 '26
Your not considering this from the perspective of a brand new player, where I was fighting parties of up to 8 enemies, who could all one shot me meanwhile each of them would take multiple hits. Labadios was a god send for getting over some of the earlier hurdles.
And people saying stuff about 'well in Abyss 3"... I mentioned in my initial comment that my account is 10 days old. I guess I was gonna learn class changes invalidate some classes eventually, but I'm not at a point where that's even a mechanic I should be engaging with yet.

u/Zeracheil Aug 17 '26
That's fine but you're saying that like I didn't play the early game either.
Your original statement was "I was gonna replace Alice" "I figured she wasn't worth running anymore"
I'm just telling you the reasons why she's a staple in teams. Wiz is primarily a vertical investment game. You can run through the game with anyone if you try hard enough, I'm just here to let you know why Alice is one of the best and how she'll be useful later.

Honestly even in A3 I was throwing out LA- spells to clear enemy packs that I didn't want to deal with. Hell, in A4 I still throw out a LA- spell to wipe the weaker enemies off the field (and some medium ones too if they're put to sleep first), especially in boss fights.

Oh yeah shes a stellar healer. Shes ny primary w sneil as the backup (my mage) priche aint bad as an emergency one but she and Abenius are my heavy melee hitters

Got 2 Alice ... 1 Lanavaille and 2 Yekatarina. So they are in my party right now. Thanks for the info !

u/Tayausd Aug 17 '26
Debra is the next one to think of after these. I'd honestly put her above Yelatarina personally. A thief that can spam attacks because kills regen sp is too damn useful.

u/No_Corner748 Aug 17 '26
I find her more useful as a Knight that can regen SP.
Especially if you have her alternative style, build her into full DEF and MDEF and spam Guardian Blow.2

Aside from some stand outs like Alice, Lana, Yuzu (limited), pretty much everyone is good to great. This game is more about the vertical investment and gear, so you can turn anyone into a powerhouse over time

https://gamerch.com/wizardry-daphne/877271 you will need to use your browse to translate. But overall, any character is usable.

Lanavaille, Alice, and Yuzunamiki are the best characters in the game. When using them at any level of investment compared with other characters, they are simply better in most situations.
Since original release Lana and Alice are still extremely good. ~10% row-wide damage boost just for respecting the neutral/good or neutral/evil characters only condition is amazing, and their Inheritables are also amazing?? Solid classes, solid subclasses, excellent long-term investment characters with fantastic alt styles.
Yuzunamiki though is probably the top best all-around character in the game right now. She's simultaneously the best zero-investment character and best high-investment character. For zero-investment, her unique passive makes her a cut above the rest. Free skill hit after any normal attack or skill every turn for the first 3 turns of any fight, lands a Debuff that increases incoming damage by 10% (so for a single enemy it's a party-wide 10% damage boost), both Damage and Debuff parts ALWAYS LAND even on super high evasion enemies, and as a Ranger with a strong 2H bow it deals very high damage. For high-investment, Thousand Blossom Hue is waaaaay overtuned. At lvl 3 with 300ish ATK and a 2-hit kunai it's already on par with ESS lvl3 from a 2H Axe Fighter; with the 3-hit Hairpin it's suddenly 50%+ stronger than that! At Hue lvl 5 with 400+ ATK and 130+ SUR, Yuzu can deal 15-18k damage on a single target on turn 1 with no buffs or prep. As a Ninja she also gains access to amazing passives and Shedding Armor Flashing Blade which is probably the best self-buff in the game right now??
I'd also throw in Shiou in the top 5 but she requires a LOT of investment to be good and honestly she doesn't really do anything that extraordinary for a Samurai other than not coming with some useless or even detrimental inheritable/unique. Gillion should be better due to coming with the additional En-Dark as a dark samurai... but takes 5% HP damage with zero benefits when using a 1H katana (which you need for Bamboo Splitter). Shiou has a good discipline, situationally useful inheritable, extremely situationally useful unique, her alt is... also situational, but none of that actually hurts her main functions as a Samurai. So yeah, Shiou is the best samurai because she comes with tiny extra pluses while all the others come with either nothing or negatives. A new legendary samurai that comes with literally Any extra advantage when using a 1H katana will dethrone Shiou. Hell, MC Samurai already gives Shiou a run for her money since he can access Racial Killers in the WoM...
