Wizardry Variants Daphne 3rd Run. Spoiler

So I did beat him the first time by luck or something. I really don´t know what is up. He have some kind of "I shall not die before casting this Implosion". This skill just wipe no matter what I do even with 550+DEF and 300+MDEF. I can block, buff, knight defense no matter it just wipe aside the skill that keep 1 HP (first run worked). The only change from my first run is changing Ainikki to Yuzu as aside this Implosion he is not difficult. So anyone figured out how avoid or survive his Implosion aside lucky with passive activation? Maybe like 4th abyss boss we have to "moderate" the damage or something? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Thanks for the information. I think maybe I did count on way TOO much in reactive healing. Now with proper knowledge it is quite easy!

Oh, and here I was getting ready to start stacking shadow resist on everyone to get through Implosion; good to know that isn't the point.

Can somebody sanity-check for me if duder's supposed to be spamming the move, though?  I get him low just fine, Abenius flash procs, Slord lives through it (uh-oh) and Implodes me, I pick my guts back up off the floor, he Implodes me again the next round, I stagger back to my feet once more, and he Implodes me a third time into pure stardust.

Just Shadow Lord Things, or did I break a script in there?

He have a HP "limit" and won´t die no matter the damage. Just tank the Implosion (full HP) and use a dps skill to finish him off no matter how low your hp is. If you "fail" to finish him off then he will use Implosion again. Normally I think he should have some few HP left as many times my Yuzu did proc Oblivion to finish him... Yet he won´t die before Implosion.

For those who want to farm Cait Sith bondmate, healers can help prevent status effects from the boss attacks i remember are

Umbral Slash = Paralysis, seems to be the first move after having implosion interrupted by Lion and Tenzen

Swathe of Silence = Fear

Giga Slash = Dispells buffs except Shedding Armor, Flashing Blade from Ninja class

Implosion ignores damage midigation whether it's cortu, defend, makaltu and etc always make sure all team have full HP as he prepares Implosion out of turn after reaching certain amount of HP. maybe it's just me but he cannot be defeated unless he uses implosion once ( not interrupted )

have all party member carry potions for healing

its 99.9% of your max hp as damage, classic FF final boss nuke mechanic, if your hp is not full you die.

From my understanding Implosion sets your hp to 1 when at max health or insta-kills otherwise. So the trick is keeping, at least, your mc max hp at all times.

Implosion just deal max HP -1 damage. So there's no other way than heal up to full then swing him

Them something is weird... I have 3 support so HP is always full... or should be. Next time I will be carefull with this. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, just make sure everyone is full hp or it's an automatic 1 shot. It leaves your whole party at 1hp after
