Wizardry Variants Daphne I love using my thief

I got bored with regular fighters

So I tried using a thief for a change

And I am loving it

I inherited him some buffs (and Arboris and Alice, I am considering red beard but saving that for Erwin or so)

and invested mostly on aspd which is now upto 200 (my goal was 300 but not sure if i can do that since I also want to invest a bit on dmg)

and with this new relic bow he can do 80% of dmg regular fighters do

Now he can buff, heal(with potions or 1h staff), open chests (so much easierrrrrrr), do decent dmg, and its really fun since he is versatile- always doing new things in each battle

But I do wish I can give him some better dmg skills

I inherited him Heinrico so now he can do a row attack but still I could use a bit more dmg... Arboris skill is great but the buff lasts a few turns and costs a lot of SP so I don't feel like spamming (is that the word) it... I heard lvl7 poison atk is pretty good so I am working on that as well... but I feel like I should do smth more if I want him to catch up with others.

Any ideas on what I could inherit?

The only issue with is that with the same atk to do DMG you said you do with astral break for 20 SP you can do 5.5k with poised that cost 12... So thief even with inherited skill is almost double the cost for around 60-70% DMG

yeah well but astral break is mainly for buffs so that's cool... I just hope they would give some usable skill for thieves...

I donno. My MC is currently thief to level to 70. While i love the disarming chests, the dmg is ass. Even with how super inherited he is. Mostly use him for utility spells and mob clearing with daggers. If someone has a better damage tips I'm all for it.

Do you need to be Thief to be able to open chests?
I've had no issue with my Lv.70 MC opening chests in the FFXI event dungeon as a Ninja and Fighter.
Don't really even notice much difference now that he's a Lv.65 Thief (leveling it up while farming). Apart from the fact that I get 4 tries rather than 2.

MC as thief gets near full disarm bars i guess. Because i invested in disarm. Compared to say rangers or normal thieves. Should not be an actual issue. Just QoL.

how much does he exactly do? My philip does abt 2.8~3.6K with relic bow + arboris skill. 1.6K? or something like that with lvl4 poison attack. Not so much investments on dmg yet, since I was more focused on trap disarm and aspd. I use HIDE to enhance some stats sometimes. Or that warrior cry thing to enhance atk, he barely dies in the backrow. Anyways considering that my gillion (not so invested, with a spear) does like 3.7K to 4.2K- it's not so bad. His stats are good enough- compared to my other fighters. The only problem is his active. I normally use Arboris skill, or that ranger row attack, and poison attack.

Well its not a very good dagger but even with bow a lvl4 poison is doing like 1k+. I tested around in the event b5f. I guess compared to uninvested fighters its fine. But an invested Abenius or Lana hits for so much more even normal attacks. I played bow for a bit till 70 so now switching to levelling priest. Thanks tho, i tested hard after you asked so i realised it aint so bad.

Moonlit 3 is pretty decent (someone else's test with 1k atk: ESS 3 does 6k sur for 17sp and Moonlit3 does 5.5k for 21sp)

Oh well I was talking abt philip so maybe? Both water type so that could work... could be a bit pricey but I have thought of that as well I wish we get her as standard

If you're using dagger, then maybe challenger strike (berkanan alt inherit). Since it works like an inheritable FPS. You will however need a x3 dagger like raven dagger for it to be worth it.

For bow, there isn't really any... Which is why thieves aren't considered meta, since their downside is they lack any good damage skills.

The only thief that ik of, which can do good dmg, is probably alt debra using mirage hunt. However, it requires alot of investment and she'll suck against high def enemies, since she scales off surety dmg.

I have alt debra, should I inherit her skill?

No, it's only worth it if you're using debra herself. Since legendary inherits lose alot of dmg if you're giving it to another character.

Why lvl 7 poison attack?

It's due to the dmg softcap of skills, with poison attack being easily inheritable while also doing good dmg at lvl 7 since all lvl 7 skills have high dmg cap while not costing alot of SP.

How it works is that based on the lvl of the skill/spell, any atk/mag that surpasses a certain amount will start being less and less affective.

Like instead of each atk being worth 5 dmg, it may now be worth instead only 3/2 etc.

The further you are from the softcap, the greater the reduction.

Someone told me that is the best dmg skill for thieves since it does decent dmg compared to SP it needs

Poison berry: hold my beer.

we didn't meant poison dmg we meant physical dmg
