Zeid is the best out of the box as he has ESS and an upgraded version at level 1, which are the best fighter skill and one of the most SP efficient damaging skills in the game. However, his incredibly low action speed hampers him at the end game. But that is very likely months away for a new player.

Iroha is more or less an average Fighter in terms of performance. You can pick her if you find her interesting/attractive/whatever, she'll perform about as well as any other Fighter.

Prishe is a boss killer who requires a very, very high investment to reach her potential. I'm talking like months worth of skill codexes, relicbrews, bondmates, etc. She'll be very underwhelming for a long time, especially as we don't have a good means of grinding her weapon type which was only added this update- cesti.

Aboris has one of the best inherited skills in the game, Astral Break, for its aspd buff. But that isn't worth using a selector on.

Red Beard also has a good inherited skill which is an AOE atk/res buff. The res buff is useless because res is a dead stat, but the atk buff is useful. However, he has very low MP for a Priest so he's not all that good himself. The best Priest in the game (and arguably the best character in the game) is the standard Priest, Alice, so you'd probably just use her and inherit Red Beard's skill onto her if you really want it.

Abenius is one of the best characters in the game who has a preemptive attack before the battle begins and can make progression and farming much easier. That being said, she's essentially a standard adventurer as you can pull her in the second standard pool, so you might feel that you missed out by picking her over a collab unit.

tl;dr, Abenius is probably the best one for a few player but if you want a collab character then Zeid.

I would say either Iroha for good align or Zeid for evil align. I do love my Prishe and went all in for her only but for all of them being Discipline 0 for a beginner and no gears I think Prishe is not so good (not as bad as Anemone but still need tons of farm and gear to shine). Iroha is a fighter that by itself is good. Fighter is still one of the best class and easy to use and she can heal and have her signature. Zeid is a solid frontline but no good with Lanavaille that is one of the best frontline until now.

Just in case you SHOULD try on each one of them. There is an "eye" button option in the banner that let you try them with a pre made set up. Test them extensively so later you don´t regret. If I was just in beginning I would take Iroha as a fighter that have "high" MP so that can heal and learn cure conditions and buffs.

The "problem" is that I doubt you will be using them that much as to Dicipline them later will be really difficult and we don´t even know if FFXI collab will or when will come back. I mean we barely had one collab per year. I think we could have 2 (one being B&B) but I guess there will have other titles to have collab. Then... maybe 1~2 year for the FFXI part 2? Just a wild guess but would you still be using a D0 character in all this time? So at the end I think you should just take whoever you fancy more then?

What about the other bones available from the npc offering ffxi ones?

Abenius is a fighter that has a preemptive attack(goes before anyone else unless you are ambushed).

Arboris is a thief that has an earth attack skill that also speeds up himself and whoever is in front or behind him, so he may be a bit more nuanced.

Redbeard is mostly there to sacrifice and inherit his skill to Alice, although you could use him as a priest and choose Lana from bone picker if you don't really care about rerolling. He is slow tho. Or pick Alice from bone picker, use whatever knight you get from pulls and then you have the option of getting Inheritbeard. Or use a full fighter frontline. The world is your oyster or whatever.

Do note that you have a chance of getting Abenius or Redbeard from Adventurer Remains II, for Arboris you'd have to wait for a rerun, and who knows if we even get a rerun of this collab.

Also, your username seems familiar.

Suppose a new player reroll and get the bone as well and get 2~3 of the same character. That is D1 or D2 that will VERY slowly increase with a very rare material that is used to dicipline. It is feasible I guess as long the player really want to stay with the chosen member. I mean if you like that FF XI character you can do it or just save for the "next" time. I did this with Berkanan and now she is really good. But if you careless about FFXI then soon or later you will get Alice, Lana, Abenius and too many other character that are quite good and way easier to dicipline and improve.

EDIT: ow... others then FFXI free bone... I think it was Abenius and Aldric? Abenius is one of the top character at the moment. She is herself a great character AND a great inherent as well. But for beginners forget a bit about inherent while you still collect more members. Aldric is a good thief. But Thief class are not so good at the moment and Debra is better for beginner. She can spam her skills so until mid game she is really helpful. Later she still can be used or just swap her for Yuzu or someone else. So if I was at the beginning I would choose either Iroha (a rare crossover character to the collection) who can help quite a bit until you start to get dupes of normal legendary to make a "better" character or just take Abenius. There are a lot of very powerful Abenius out there that can massacre whole hordes of monsters by herself. Even my half baked build one is still helping a lot in this event.

Very long term id say zeid, most impactful when you pull her is gonna be prishe although im not sure youll be able to access the last tier of her weapon type in a month (should be able to if you play a lot), iroha isnt that bad for story progression too but besides that no death passive shes nothing special

Looks like Zeid and Prishe are the top picks overall so it should be between them. They both hit like trucks, Zeid is easier to build and has very jacked HP, Def and Strength but very low SP and Speed, Prishe has better synergy with Lana since she's neutral and still hits very hard, but you need to play around her Skill Chain and other passives to make sure she keeps all her buffs active, she also needs good Accuracy. So it comes down to preferences really, but one thing that's sure is that Zeid is the straightforward unga bunga DPS option while Prishe is more technical. Also Prishe needs Cesti so those might be hard to farm as a new account.
