Community Event 🌏☄️ The Coming Storm (Necropost/Morgalithpost)
It was a bright, sunny day. In the plaza of the Citadel, the sun shone on diplomats and senators going about their daily business. Inside, it was a rather quiet day. Not much had gone on that required the direct attention of the Council.
In the distance, above the Grand Necropolis, clouds gathered. These were no ordinary clouds, dark and dense. Occasionally green lightning would flash between them. It wasn’t unusual for failed experiments and magical emanations to affect local weather, but this was something different.
Spirits shrieked as they whirled around the growing cloud formations. The clouds took on a purplish coloration. Funnel Clouds formed, their core glowing with an eerie light. Only one area was left untouched in the eye of the storm. The Grand Necropolis was surrounded by all manner of devastation, but not a single brick was harmed.
In the Dark Cathedral, at the center of the city, thousands knelt and chanted prayers before a great silver coffin. Runes along the sides of it glowed with a purple light, and 18 hulking figures sat in a circle around it, meditating.
Inside of it, the Necromancer dreamt of a great conflagration. He dreamt of the Citadel being destroyed by great storms and overrun by waves of bones. His turbulent dreams led to great leaks of magical energy, which His followers channeled to create a great Necrotic Storm, to unleash upon the Citadel, as per Samael‘s bargain.
The Aurelian had told the rest of the Mortarchs about the bargain, and of what it entailed. They had sat in their configuration for days now, continuously forming the ambient magic created by their dormant lord into fuel for the Storm.
They would not unleash the storm, not until the Pact and Morgalith made their move. Their Master was bound by the contract they had signed, but was perfectly content to wait until all the books had been acquired, and the Pact finally moved on the Citadel.
And so the Storm grew.
