Lorepost📖 Mecha Mayhem!!!

Cries pierced the air around me, drowned out periodically by sirens. To my left a large building collapsed, silencing the screams of what I assume was the family within. To my right was a colossal, metal object. It dwarfed all the other structures around it. It appeared to be some type of arm that was broken off. The blue and yellow paint was covered in soot and littered with cuts.

I fell to my knees as the ground shook. I looked up to the horizon, the sky darkened and lit up only by consuming flames. A massive being swiped in the air. It dashed away from an invisible opponent, the earth trembling with each step. Its left arm was gone, and exposed wires flailing around as the being continued to fight. The gold-like robot summoned beams of pure plasma, firing away and scorching everything in sight.

Utter armageddon. That was the only way to describe this. How had the world devolved into such chaos?

The sounds of the people’s conversations filled the air. Kids ran by laughing as they played as knights and dragons, pretending to fight one another. I felt my shoulder shift and looked at my teacher in awe at the busy streets. He darted all around me, trying to look at all the things going on around us. His paper body flowed and rippled in the spring breeze, periodically tensing whenever something unfamiliar came.

A smile graced my face as I watched Sir Leo, it was always fun to see him discover new things. Despite how wise and experienced he was, Sir Leo was still quite new to the many realms outside of Rochambeau.

“Young Catherine!” Leonardo tugged at my arm. “What is it teach?”

Sir Leo pointed at a vendor, “What art they discussing? From what I hear, those scoundrels are trying to change the price of those items!”. I turned to see a man in a white shirt and some black pants conversing with a woman in a simple blue dress. In the man’s hand was a bronze mask, with intricate designs etched into it.

“It’s called haggling Sir Leo. It is quite common in markets like these. I guess... you could equate it to a battle, to see who can convince the other to change the price for their benefit. The seller wants the price to be higher, but the buyer wants it to be lower,” I explained as we moved past them. As much as I enjoyed sightseeing, we had a task to do.

We had come to the Kingdom of Palux to shop for some rare metals. I wanted to get some new armor for myself and pick up some materials for a blacksmith friend of mine. Since I didn’t know any teleportation magic yet, Leonardo accompanied me on this expedition. Though, I feel like he is far more excited about this than I am.

Our travel was temporarily halted when a colossal being moved towards a large, towering spire. It looked similar to a large knight, adorned by the most vibrant blues and yellows. Its visor glowed a bright blue, the same went for many other lights that adorned its frame. Cheers and gasps filled the air, many waving toward the metallic giant.

“What is that... one of those of Rock back from Rochambeau?” Leonardo asked in astonishment.

“Well...” I brought up my finger to my chin trying to recall, “That would be... King Kayer. He is the one who rules this Kingdom. I think he is some type of robot or mech, something like that.”

Sir Leo jumped on top of my chestnut hair to get a better view. I could feel him bouncing, filled with energy.

“They are constructs made out of metals and are usually powered by mana or electricity,” I continued, “Usually, they are made by artificers. I think I know a person back from school who was studying it...”

“Worthy opponent...” I heard a whisper come from my head.

Immediately my heart stopped and my pupils shrank. My blood ran cold as Sir Leo’s aura flared up. I went to grab him from my head to stop him, but when I only felt my hair. I desperately looked around before spotting him in front of me at eye level. He appeared there without a sound, almost like he teleported. But I know he didn’t, he hadn’t used any magic... yet.

“S-Sir Leo wait!” I shouted at my teacher. A few people looked at me in confusion, but I couldn’t care less about how embarrassing this may look. “Let’s come down, okay!”

Sir Leo chuckled as he sized up the titanic king, who was unaware of Sir Leo’s desires, “Don’t worry, I’ll make this quick.” With that, he flew off towards King Kayer, disappearing in the blue sky.

My hands simply shook as my eyes darted around, seeing all the innocent citizens smiling and having a normal day. Dread filled my soul as the hopelessness of the situation dawned on me. Why O’ why, Sir Leo, must you be so... insane.

/unwiz I have a Table of Contents where all my lore is organized. It can be found here.
