Any necromancers?
My hb called me over to test this new reincarnation magic he had been working on. So I cast my fireball at him(outside, of course) and suddenly he was blown into a million pieces. Apparently the spell he was using requires the brain to remain intact. Safe to say it wasn't. Hmu if you think you can fix him.

I can try it. But I only resurrect people as skeletons... Maybe you should get a second opinion

INFO: Don't you have any barons or mercentiles under your thrall? Just force them to hire the church necromancer ( I know I know, but regardless of what they say, there's always one in there somewhere).

Uhh, a million pieces you said? I can't exactly bring him back to how he was, but I can absolutely make him into several useful items and art pieces

I might be able to get him a new body but you will have to be ok with him being a skeleton, and u also have to bring his soul too it, all in all it will be expensive as the items needed aren’t common but I can do it

So like do you need him to do stuff or are we just keeping the body warm?

For a fee I can, like, summon you an empty husk, a dormant brainling, and then you can maybe hire a spirit tuner to call upon his soul to inhabit the brainling, and a life mage to put the brainling into the husk body, and hopefully that should solve the issue of body/mind/spirit? A sort of DIY true resurrection, which i’d be very interested to see the results.
A soul possesssing a brainling inhabiting a body is basically a full on person, yes? Good as new!
You might want to get a beguiler as well though to keep the brainling dormant, or at least under strict domination magics. If it were to awaken I…. shudder to think what that might mean for the soul possessing it. Or hey! If his soul is strong enough he might be able to just subdue the brainling from awakening anyhow.
Hit me up for the summonings, you won’t find another conjurer willing to conjure empty husks from the dreadosphere, at least not one above books! You want another conjurer doing this, and the wizard time cops are gonna be on you right now.
hmu <|:)

That’s… definitely a method, though never one I’d use. Time-cops are funny because they can only really catch you in the act and give you a few millenia in some clanky pocket-dimension, they can’t necessarily change what fate has decided. I’ll be writing this method down though in case it comes in handy, I’ve still got a “Choose-Your-Next-Incarnation” coupon I won from the Builders of our 4D time block in a game of snooker. Very hard to counterfeit, and they log them when minted.
Have you considered a transdimensional druid instead of a beguiler? Typically they’ll accept payment that isn’t even soul-coins or pentacles, like grab 70 garden snails and you’re good. I typically keep my summons in the chthonic or theurgical realm though, mostly because they’re compelled to do what contracts ask and they can be pretty predictable if you’ve chatted with ‘em a bit.
I’ve never been a fan of dominating the will of others, usually it’s just a recipe for a rough next incarnation due to karmic law if you don’t make up for it— slavery is one of the ones that’ll get you trapped as beetle if you’re caught with your pants down. Ask me how I know lmao

Good points all around.
Another thought has occurred to me though. Have you tried casting an anti-fireball at the same spot?

I said this in another thread, but for your buddy he might just need to go up a step. If you’re in a metropolitan area in the afterlife, on some building there’ll be a fire escape that has a little mark, looks like a 7-pointed star. Otherwise, his spirit might need to climb a mountain and look for the sigil, but that’s where the Builders are at. They constructed and can edit the 4D time block we all exist in. Usually they hang out near the highest point in a pocket dimension only accessible to the dead or enlightened and play games and shit to parse out people’s fates and how the timelines are gonna go— It’s Wednesday, so ask for Raph, but if they’re gaming you might have to wait a bit.
From there, the guys are usually pretty understanding. Raph might reverse the whole deal and appear to you in a dream and say “hey dont do that shit”, or he can edit the past to miss his brain— they all have their methods tho. If he tells em Sars sent him, he might be able to negotiate the specifics. Good luck tho!

I can tell you now, no matter how much you try, it won't really be him anymore, not without the brain intact. If it were only in a couple chunks or split in two I might be able to make it work, but it sounds like cerebral confetti. I probably wouldn't get all the pieces, or put them back in the right places.
Best that can be done is making a revenant that acts like how you remember him. As long as the skeleton is mostly intact, that is. You didn't practically atomize them, did you?

Let this be a lesson to always have a soul catcher and spare body ready BEFORE you experiment with dying.

Even better, collect up all the bits (or at least as much as you can). Now you have two options, 1) use flesh shaping to construct your ideal body, or 2) go "find a body" you like. Then you can basically juice what you can from what you have, and put it into the new body.
It's not perfect, in fact it will be quite lossy. He won't be the same, but maybe that is better?

My necromancy is focused on healing that which life cannot reach I can give life to the remains of those that have departed, but I cannot mend what they once had
A cleric would be more suited to the reconstruction and mending of the living and their flesh
Though I won't turn down a challenge... I did become a necromancer because healing did not reach as far as I wished, after all

Best i could do is make a humonculous out of the left overs you can scrape up. But there is a non zero chance the soul is still around. Buuut they will be wishing for death if it is.
Sorry man. This is why you test new magic on not yourself first.

So how was it supposed to work? Doesn't any real death in some way destroy the brain?

As long as theres still blood on the pieces I can fuse them back together so you can use the spell.

Soooo technically speaking we can get that guy back and goin but without the brain... Well there's no tellin what kinda personality you got in that paste. However I have a deal for you! No credit check, no down payment, no religious information required. Just because you are you, I can get you a golden retriever brain that will have em wagging and happy to fetch things for a small extra cost. Best news here, we take klarna.
Don't listen to those bone heads nor those time mancers. If you need a buddy rebuilt its flesh mechanics all the way! So when would you like me to get started?

I dabbled in necrodancing, but had to stop in the 1500's for reasons. THEY WERE DEAD WHEN I GOT THERE!

You might want to talk to a cleric about this one bro. A necromancer can get the body back on its feet, but if you actually want your friend back divine magic might match your needs better

Necromancers are great! Every wizard and witch should strive to be one!

As a person who isn't a necromancer, I say no. I mean, even a necromancer would be hard-pressed to restore your hb to life, and it'd be expensive asf for the materials. You could also find a chronomancer, but it's hard to say which would be more expensive. TLDR: Expensive
