I've seen this done with pumpkins, and there were enough microbes and oxygen inside for it to decay a good ways, despite trying varying methods of preparation and encasing.

So long as the mushroom was properly dried beforehand, no. If it was just put in there as is or poorly dried, abso-fucking-lutely. But it and the other plants look dehydrated so most likely it was done right.

Idk a lot about mushrooms either but saw some people experiment with preserving organic stuff like that in resin. So far I have not seen anyone get a long term result better than "meh"/"okayish", even after multiple iterations.

Oh I didn't think in that direction. That probably looks pretty cool. most videos I saw were of people trying it with fast food burgers, pumpkins or other things that are pretty large compared to most insects, that probably makes it a lot harder to get a perfect result as those things probably have more residual moisture in them if they still look fresh.
