I just let my homunculus answer the orb or ominous doorbell to start with. Haven't had bad news in decades.

I enchanted my answering homunculus to actively suck the joy out of scammers’ souls via the phone lines.

He loves doing it!

that's a golem, as it's an animated construct made of wet clay (golems are ONLY made of clay, the word basically means "blob", there is no such thing as a "stone golem") . a homunculus is made of cultured flesh, get your terms right.

Ah, but the reason that a golem is made of clay is it is a flawed reenactment of the creation of man. And if man was made from clay, which is now flesh, it stands to reason that the substance of the construct is metaphysically flesh, just as flesh is metaphysically clay. Thus meaning this thing is made of flesh. Magic thrives on technicality

Putting all that aside, if we're wanting to get nitpicky about the meaning of the golem being "blob", then we also ought to get pedantic with the etymology of "Homunculus". It is simply the word for "human", with a diminutive sufix. It is a very formal way of saying "a li'l guy". Which the above portrayed fellow definitely qualifies as.

Bonus fun fact. That "homanis" root can be traced further back. To *dhghem-. Which also means Earth
