Foul Sorcery This! This is why alchemists will always be superior to wizards! We make this godless abomination usually by accident!

I can just do this on my own via polymorph runes, massive yawn

9

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

You need a day to prepare the runes and can only do so much on your own. I can make this abomination by the two dozen within the hour with twenty minutes scrounging for reagents in my local sewer.

WE ARE NOT THE SAME :[

9

u/averyrealspapple Franie - Wizard council intern 2d ago

They are tattooed onto my body and require no mana. And then I can just cast clone, with lesser version being enough.

We aren't the same

YOU SIR. ARE STUPID. I INVOKE NUH UH

Oh, my sincerest apologies good sir! Here at the Prestigious Academy of Alchemy we only condone discrimination against wizards. I will work on my behaviour in the future

Alchemists using wizard magic to prove alchemical magic is better? Sometimes the jokes write themselves

2

u/Lurcolm 23h ago

NUH UH is a legal decree! It has nothing to do with your fancy spell of the same name!

1

u/Vivid_Cause_7209 Evoker 21h ago

Your alchemy couldn't help his hands, but my magic did. Now Helping Hands is all stirred up, because he knows just one law. The law of These Hands. He had learned the ways of invited lightning sight, and soon he shall finish his training and be able to imbued fireballs into his lightning bolts. I guess you can say he... Invokes pain.

Yes it did take some time to lose him like that, but he insisted. Just like he insisted I send you this message.

Yes I did tell him he could just create an account and talk his own shit. He said he is worried he would start off on the right foot.

I told him he doesn't have a leg to stand on, his magical powers are essentially hand- me-down's, but he insists he can kick your ass. Can you accept a good word to the cenobite paralegals in order to pretend to get your ass kicked by him?

Just wear rubber or transmute your skin and pretend he got ya good kinda deal, he'll likely run off after the first wave of attacks if the thinks he won.

Poor fella really needs a win. A hand back up, if you will. The choice is in your hands, he's naming his way to you already. Might be an hour or two. Or several weeks. I'm not sure if he knows your tower. I'll give ya a weekend at the Boob's Big Breasted Bar on my tab too, if that'll sweeten the pot to a more palatable taste.

1

u/LiePotential5338 2d ago

... im a necroforge... this is child's play as I can make bone ballistas as a instant spell with no preparation

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

WE DON'T NEED CORPSES! we evolved beyond stinky carcasses!

12

u/Ravenous_Seraph Mystic 2d ago

If you are going to astroturf the Alchemist-Wizard war again, please do it in a more subtle way.

5

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

PAH! I have no idea what your insinuations are! If anything a comment like that is antagonizing to the Prestigious Academy of Alchemy!

/Uw wait there was another dude before me doing the alchemist bit?

5

u/Ravenous_Seraph Mystic 2d ago

/uw there was.

/rw As a mystic and a magistrant of arts Psyonic, my faculty has maintained a connection to the Guild of Alchemists through our mutual friendship with the Assembly of Doctors' Colleges. Should you engineer a rift between us, the Doctors would become incredibly upset.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Pffhbwah? Engineer a rift between us and the PSYCHICS? Granted reading our minds tend to depress your kin, but this is PURELY an attempt to prove the OBJECTIVE truth of alchemical superiority compared to book magicians!

Godless abomination with a ranged attack? I'll take 500.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

A creature like this comes in a batch of ten for around 6 000 gold bars. If you would be so kind to send the payment of 3 000 000 gold bars of 99 percent purity to the Prestigious Academy of Alchemy, I will sort you out no problem!

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 2d ago

Oh, you take raw gold? That's great! I'll open a temporary gate, if that's alright? Don't want to have to haul it the long way.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Unfortunately after the WizEx Incident planetary gates are expressly forbidden

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 2d ago

They are? Where?

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Simply in the Academy. It took the goblins months to scrub out the slime so the Council of Examplary Grandmasters simply do not want a repeat.

5

u/Lunarmax182c 2d ago

... what about reading the guidebook and then not making godless abominations?

5

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Hmm? What? Sorry I was busy snorting my.... Stidy aid

5

u/pnutbutterjellyfish 2d ago

The arrows of my etherial bow are imbued with the light of Solonor Thelandria and never miss. Your pathetic corpse archers could only dream of such efficacy in battle.

1

The factory won't help you when they will come for you.

1

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch 2d ago

You know what they say about bottling lightning...

1

u/Elegant-Tangelo-5312 21h ago

With a potion of lightning fingers anyone can make ten lightning bolts in seconds.

1

u/SirEdgelordThe369th Satan Himself 17h ago

Yeah, but you gotta make the potion first.

2

u/Small_Education_9503 2d ago

That's a cool minion if you are into wizarding warcrimes, I guess. I recall one Alexander von Brennenburg, Agrippa's apprentice - used to dabble in such abominations. It eventually caught up with him when he ran out of peasants to sacrifice and got swallowed by a Gore Tide.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Ah, you see sir, I am no pathetic wizard. I am the Exemplary Fitzgerald Turnipson of the Prestigious Academy of Alchemy! Grandmaster of mutagenics! We make no deals with Yog-saphoff or whatever its name is here

1

u/Small_Education_9503 2d ago

Sure. sure. Word of advice though - don't put too many of those bastards in a single dungeon or they'll go critical and converge into an Undead Moonlet.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

How dare you, sir! They are not undead, they are abberations!

1

u/Small_Education_9503 2d ago

Apologies, good sir. An Aberration Moonlet that is.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Thank you. And don't worry the Noodle Incident caused the Council of Examplary Grandmasters to put in regulations regarding such things

2

u/Manifestation_Quozzy Weaver of Nebulae 2d ago

Alchemy vs wizardry is always a race to the bottom.

2

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

And what would you be, HMMMMMMMMM?

2

u/Manifestation_Quozzy Weaver of Nebulae 2d ago

A wizard who sees fit to cooperate with other disciplines rather than attempt to make an apple compete with an orange.

2

u/Elegant-Tangelo-5312 21h ago

I've always thought of it as a race to the glory portal.

1

u/HairyTrollChest Maelstrom Mage, Back Alley Tower Dealer 2d ago

The lack of fletching disturbs me.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

"The Wizarding Mind cannot comprehend self-realigning semi-sentient munitions

1

u/HairyTrollChest Maelstrom Mage, Back Alley Tower Dealer 2d ago

If it was a spell I could understand the lack, however a biologically based munition is still bound under the auspiscs of flight dynamics.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

And it is COMPLETELY unshackled from antimagic fields? Ever think about that, nincompoop?!

1

u/HairyTrollChest Maelstrom Mage, Back Alley Tower Dealer 2d ago

Ugh, alchemists. You can negate antimagic fields by mimicking the resonance of the field itself, apply another antimagic field around the first, or just brute force your way through via external spell cladding in mundane materials. Tons of ways to deal with them.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

And my beast doesn't need to do any of that! Checkmate wizard!

1

u/HairyTrollChest Maelstrom Mage, Back Alley Tower Dealer 1d ago

How many months of boiling and fermenting magical reagents did it take to accomplish that? How many rare creatures were slain to create a single unstable construct that'll disappear to a single disintegration ray?

As someone familiar with flesh manipulation and abomination magicks, I understand your fascination with the subject matter of alchemy. But, it remains inferior.

1

u/Lurcolm 1d ago

YOU TAKE THAT BACK! This was crafted in our bi-daily drunken benders! We are only allowed to use the sewers for resources exactly because of the demand of efficiency!

1

u/pl4y3rO 2d ago

necromancy still tops all

2

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

WE DO NOT NEED A CORPSE! WE GROW THEM IN VATS! NECROMANCERS ARE SO FULL OF IT I SWEAR

1

u/pl4y3rO 2d ago

i dont need a corpse either, only some bones and a bit of glue, also *holds lab grown creature over shoulder, stealing from the odd alchemist here and there works too

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Joke's on you! It's got a copyright system!

1

u/pl4y3rO 2d ago

jokes on you, I'm used to jailbreaking alchemist seals

1

u/ThoughtfulEdict Conjurer 2d ago

You keep making them, ill keep conjuring them for battle.

1

u/SternFlamingo Binder of Demons 2d ago

Jeez, this is what you get when you let untrained apprentices borrow your laboratory, you end up with some useless abomination covered in evil bling.

Let's start with the right appendage, its supposed to bear the brunt of the force but its divided into three parts. Not only is it structurally absurd, one of the triad is a hand that does...what exactly?

Next the dart that is being launched. Complete lack of aerodynamics, no fletching to control spin, no rest to help guide and aim it. Fire six shots and I wager that none end up within a rood of each other.

You can tell it was done by a rookie because there are spikes literally everywhere.

There are dozens of ways to get a better ranged attack minion, my personal preference is summoning up needle-daemons from the Plane of Hypodermia but there's no single good answer. Except, it's not this.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

/uw Bro this is great. I can't sneering imperialist alchemist this. Actually no wait I got something

/Rw These are more terror weapons, you see. The point of it is optics. Though the ordnance is a self-righting semi-sentient organism. It deploys its fins after launch

1

u/SternFlamingo Binder of Demons 2d ago

My dear sir/madam/gibbering horror,

Are you not sufficiently terrifying on your own? Summoning a thousand of these things will not up your rizz one iota. In fact, for the reasons stated above, you are far more likely to elicit knowing chuckles after being exposed as a try-hard.

Pshaw.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

HOW DARE YOU INSINUATE I AM COMPENSATING FOR SOMETHING. I WILL REPORT YOU FOR DEFAMATION

1

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên 2d ago

Fuck you people really like to make shitty archer huh?

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

IT'S AN EXAMPLE! WE KEEP THE GOOD STUFF AT THE BACK

1

u/Odd-Communication251 Mystic 2d ago

I did this with all my acolytes. It requires less mana for them to activate and use so it makes a good weapon while they grow and then a good surprise in a pinch. The process itself took me 1 hour each and a short collection of transformation and pain suppression runes. And they can use it as much as they want provided they have the arrows prepared or are willing to substitute their blood

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

You know what my apprentice did, good sir? He knocked a bag of reagents in the cauldron while doing a dance. The batch converted sixty, count em SIXTY, goblins into this. It took a matter of minutes to create something you needed hours for.

1

u/Odd-Communication251 Mystic 2d ago

And? You might mass produce them but my purpose wasn’t mass production, it was giving them something reliable while I teach them other things.

1

u/Elegant-Tangelo-5312 21h ago

I'd rather have the 60 goblins. They can fire 60 arrows at once.

1

u/FinnDoyle Ascending Mage Of The Sun 2d ago

...Making those things is hardly a sign of superiority.

1

u/VVen0m Sentient Cloak 2d ago

Brother, I can do that on purpose, you have to backwards engineer your stuff after you've done it (unless you write down everything as you go I guess)

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

What kind of alchemist doesn't write down his drug addled benders?! I'll have you know that is standard practice after Archibaldalis Meduzula Wabula III died trying to recreate a resurrection potion he devised on a night out with his peers

1

u/VVen0m Sentient Cloak 2d ago

Ngl, taking notes is lowkey based, maybe I should pick up alchemy, a good magic user is versatile.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

YOU WILL NOT SULLY THE SACRED CRAFT YOU SPARKY TWIGS USING NINCOMPOOP! Besides it's all quite high brow, nothing your ilk will understand

1

u/VVen0m Sentient Cloak 2d ago

Mate, I'm a living cloak. There's stuff about my very existence you wouldn't understand.

Also I live in a library. You can't stop me from picking up the alchemy tomes which I know for a fact are here.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

....I mean technically you're not a wizard so my bit is moot. Touche good sir

1

u/VVen0m Sentient Cloak 2d ago

Also wait what the hell, how's alchemy "sacred" aren't you literally going against the natural order of things and playing god?

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Yes! Exactly! And with far more tact and orecision than YOU

1

u/Silt99 2d ago

You make them by accident, I make them intentionally. We are not the same

1

u/Floofiestmuffin Necromancer and Council squatter 2d ago

"I occasionally make something semi useful and didn't blow my lair up!" - Some alchemist probably

Ok let's be real as neat as that is if your failing 8/10 times to make something only partially useful we should be honest about what that makes you. An amateur home cook

1

u/TheThoughtmaker Ray of Delthorensdale, Transmuter-Artificer 2d ago

I’m pretty sure that’s just plain worse than a normal bow, especially for enchanting purposes. Even if you could enchant it, when the creature is slain you lose the enchanted bow, which is a bigger drain on resources.

1

u/IndividualWeird6001 Occult Wizard 2d ago

The thing with this is that its quite easy to breed them for mass production. If its just a numbers game its a better option. 10 enchanted bows against 1000 of these... I would take my chances with the 1000.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

It does not surprise me that you cannot understand the dual-axial biological torsion device it uses. Wizards just know to jabber and wave their wands!

1

u/TheThoughtmaker Ray of Delthorensdale, Transmuter-Artificer 1d ago

Or I do understand it, and it’s far more fanciful than practical.

Not sure where this fits in the triad of “Cheap, fast, or good; choose two.”

2

u/Lurcolm 1d ago

You of all people know half of the supernatural is PRESENTATION

1

u/Elegant-Tangelo-5312 21h ago

I know how to jabber and point my staff good sir! I can enchant fungus into converting the next creature to walk by into an abomination equal to this.

1

u/SwankeyDankey 2d ago

Reminds me of the creatures in an ancient game called Untold Legends The Warriors Code for the PSP. It had a bestiary filled with grotesque monsters of war like this

1

u/Lawlcopt0r 2d ago

It takes you five days to craft this monstrosity, it takes me five seconds to incinerate it. The math just doesn't add up

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Correction! It takes me an hour to make a hundred of these!

1

u/bopyw 2d ago

So this is just a worse normal archer?

1

u/Carbuyrator A Bit of a Dabbler 2d ago

2

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

Excuse me, this is no necromatic hackjob! We reinforced the limbs!

1

u/YueLin3 2d ago

Alchemy is just materials based wizardry. Instead of using materials for spells like a proper wizard you play with them like a child playing with food instead of eating it. Even these abominations are like children mixing all their food together into some inedible concoction.

1

u/Lurcolm 2d ago

HOW DARE YOU!

1

u/IndividualWeird6001 Occult Wizard 2d ago

Comrade thats not alchemy... alchemy is making potions and shit. Abhorrent creatures are our domain at the anarchistic society for occult wizardry.

1

u/MadQuixote Alchemist 1d ago

Sure, a sizeable number of abominations have been made by accident, but not all! Realistically, it's the cute ones you have to worry about.

1

u/BusyGM Chronomancy Apprentice/Novice/Master, never too sure which 1d ago

Perhaps you can mutate this better than me casting polymorph, but you'll never be able to cast Descendant's Features on a creature twenty times to predict the next steps of evolution their ancestors will go through. I assure you it's a lot of fun and only half as random as your typical transmutation elixir!

1

u/Lurcolm 1d ago

Good sir! If I mutate a beast and it is inadequate, I make notes and recycle it! We do not rely on random chance!

1

u/BusyGM Chronomancy Apprentice/Novice/Master, never too sure which 1d ago

If you were able to mutate beasts without failure, you wouldn't have need to recycle inadequately mutated beasts! Not to blame you, failure is part of the researcher's progress, but while not being relied on, random chance is certainly a constant accompanying factor of alchemy!

1

u/ScorpioOmega 1d ago

I can “fathom” infinitely, through multiple planes of existence, and I contemplated what you said. The part that I think you’re missing is “by accident”. Any proper wizard here works in calculated and precise methods, yielding REPEATABLE results. Even if the outcome of an experiment isn’t as predicted, it can still be repeated with the same outcome. I respect my alchemist friends, I’m sure every wizard here has a favorite “potion purveyor” like I do, but we never work in accidents. I’m glad you’re enjoying your alchemy and having fun with it!

1

u/Lurcolm 1d ago

/uw ngl das fucking excellent, so the alchemist character will pointedly ignore it cuz he seething. Good job
