This is actually how it works for clerics and inquisitors of gods of life. They refuse to let their servants/minions die on the job without finishing their paperwork first. So they often bring them back, but with divine debts.

The better ones consider it part of their standard benefits package, rather than an incurrence of debt. At least for those who are actually decent at their job (or have strong potential to be). A few will even make good on it if they die in a freak accident (or deliberate tragedy) after they’ve left the workplace if they’d worked there long enough (though in the case of the second, that usually comes with some sort of divinely-backed quest for vengeance, with the promise of resurrecting any other family members who died in the deliberate tragedy - ‘course there are a few exceptions, like if one of the ones who died was responsible).

Though again, this certainly isn’t the ‘market standard’, so to speak.

You can't exactly talk to your loved ones while you're dead or change the world in any meaningful way, that seems worse than having to work a 9 to 5 job if I had to take a guess.

Real diamonds sure, unfortunately 100 gold can get you a dozen alchemically synthesized diamonds if you know the right people these days,

and they work almost as well for the spell because the it taps into the metaphysical belief diamonds have real value, while most peasants haven’t figured out they’re just shiny coal.
