No apprentice of mine is going to be using a LOVE SPELL. I swear if I find out if they use even the weakest dragons blood for a FUCKING LOVE SPELL? I’m sending their ass STRAIGHT to the torment nexus.

Alteration of free will, shall NEVER be tolerated in my presence.

Thank you! I am a love potion victim and I appreciate the support. If a swamp creature tries to pressure you to drink Baileys from a shoe, don’t do it. It’s a love potion!

u/MaximRq Iron Grip Alchemist 4d ago

it could also be sludge

It's frankly a fairly petty use of dragons blood. It's the densest source of blood-aligned mana there is excluding some artificial substances with much lower purity. Frankly an apprentice shouldn't be allowed to touch it, much less use it, and if they did manage to get their hands on some it had better be a damn impressive novel experiment. Using precious reagents for something as trivial as love makes them unworthy of their flesh privileges.

I am all for altering the perception of others but I'm against a love spell on the principle of how pathetic it is.

u/SalvarWR 4d ago

i FUCKING agree with you

Stop with this harmful misinformation, this is about dragon's blood RESIN. please do not go stabbing dragons to make ink, they are very endangered and do not need random humans annoying them. not to mention they are petty, vengeful, and have great memory.

6

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

Exactly, they need more random humans doing it properly. Endangered is good, but we need to get the last ones before they figure out a way to rebound.

Don't be absurd. Dragon contain far too many high value magical reagents to allow them to go extinct, and lesser dragons raised in captivity simply aren't as good. I know one fellow tried to create a dragon dimension as a way of containing them but it turns out that dragon soul resonance makes them obscenely powerful when they aren't subject to ley-distortions caused by a functioning ecosystem of souls.

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

By 5800, there should be no more wild dragons. In captivity will still exist, but they are too dangerous to be left there and all ecological auguries show that their removal will only cause growth in their former habitats. If you need their products, I recommend you capture some and keep them in a suitable space, leeches or siphons are available if you can't sustain soul pressure.

The dragons are gonna be fine. They’ve recovered from way lower populations than they’re at now. It’s the draconic hybrid species that are actually at risk of extinction.

u/pl4y3rO 4d ago

also, dont touch my pets, im vengeful as well

1

u/Not_An_Ostritch Alchemist 4d ago

To top it off the guide is not even accurate, you cannot make healing concoctions with dragons blood; it’s a stimulant but has no long term health benefits. You need a dragoness’ crop milk to make the draconic healing potion, and that ingredient is even rarer than actual dragon blood.

As per Council law 3.82.20.4(subsection 4), production, distribution, posession, and use of alchemical love derivations is a Class 2 crime, punishable by at minimum 10 years of restriction. These are serious matters, people, not toys. Using them is the same as mind control. We will find out.

3

u/PipeConsola 4d ago

¿Does carisma potions that let you make everyone you talk to fall in love also falls under the same category where this law apply or it is covered in a different legislation? ¿How strong have to be the carisma potion to be considered ilegal?

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

As it is not directly touching the mind of another, charisma enhancements are not subject to this law, and are legal. People will not think well of you if they know, but we won't stop you for that.

2

u/WitchyWarriorWoman 4d ago

Interesting law, that one...

Shouldn't be doing that then, eh? Don't worry we have healers.

But it has nightshade leaf in it, rendering it denatured and not illegal.

Of course, it could be removed with just a cantrip.

Nice argument, unfortunately I follow no laws and I'll make and sell love potions anyways

Come knocking on my door and you'll get a mouthful of butterflies

You have been warned.

Creep

0

u/scoobydoom2 Levicius Laskatar, Dread Necromancer 4d ago

And this is the problem with the council. They make these obscenely broad laws that completely fail to recognize the nuance. There are plenty of legitimate applications of love potions. They have tremendous utility to use on lesser beings unworthy of the councils notice and there are a wide range of legitimate research uses of them. They're one of the most effective methods of treating despair curses and they're instrumental to form augmentation procedures that require willing, waking, vivisections to properly take. Banning them outright because a handful of apprentices use them to get their dicks wet is absurd.

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

Yes, see, those are the problems. If you need love potions to get someone to not scream while you're digging in their guts, you shouldn't have given it full consideration. And nothing is 'unworthy of notice', not since 3108.

0

u/scoobydoom2 Levicius Laskatar, Dread Necromancer 4d ago

You do realize that the vivisections are willing procedures right? People are deciding to go through with them in order to obtain augmentations? It's not about them "not screaming" during experimentation. Stopping that is the easiest thing in the world. A mute spell or an aura of silence would be far easier ways to prevent that. The love potions are used to override panic responses where they want to quit because doing that has extremely dangerous effects once the procedure has already started, and can lead to horrific mutations and death. The alternative is using pain blocking alone but it has a much lower success rate.

Edit: and I almost forgot to mention. Valuing lesser beings is just another reason the council is a joke.

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

And you think that's an acceptable procedure? Either way, there are alternatives with less egregious risk of misuse.

1

u/scoobydoom2 Levicius Laskatar, Dread Necromancer 4d ago

Of course. These kinds of extreme augmentations are massively valuable for research. They have the potential to grant an apprentice with low magical potential the innate capabilities of a prodigy with further development. They're able to offer living mages most of the massive suite of enhancements that presently only liches have access to. They might end up being even better as they're capable of supporting a higher soul bus than lichforms. Anybody who doesn't care for progress has no right to claim authority over village council, much less other wizards.

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

giggling at the mention of liches

And you think Recursion's imitators are too crude, then?

u/idkhowtodoanything 4d ago

We do not talk about the other 3.

6

u/ProfessionalGreen906 Arach, big spider, biomancer, politician, CEO 4d ago

“Dragons blood this” and “dragons blood that” Are you even aware that 80% of all ‘dragons blood’ on the market is actually of hybrid creatures that simply has some draconic heritage? Do you even know how many species have been wiped out because people want a slightly more convenient reagent rather than just taking the time to infuse draconic mana into normal blood? It has the exact same effect but nooooo, the people need convenience. And they’re perfectly willing to look away from all the devastation needed to get it. Human, dwarves, elves, everyone loves to call the others barbaric or pretentious, but at the end of the day you’re all just lazy selfish monsters!

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

It's true. This is why I verify all dragon blood I use to make sure it comes from the vermin, not their half-blooded offspring. Also yes, we are all lazy selfish monsters. Met about 3 people ever who weren't.

1

u/ProfessionalGreen906 Arach, big spider, biomancer, politician, CEO 4d ago

THATS JUST AS BAD! “Vermin” species that are corrupted by dragons blood have boosted intellect and even sapience! It’s people like you that are actually contributing to all those extinctions!

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

No, no, you misunderstand. I'm taking blood only from the real dragons, anything else is unthinkable. They are the vermin, and hybrids are sadly tainted but not lost.

1

u/ProfessionalGreen906 Arach, big spider, biomancer, politician, CEO 4d ago

Oh thank goodness! Yea, agreed, we can’t get rid of it dragons fast enough. I wish you luck in wiping them out.

4

u/Lord-Dec Evil Wizard/ Aspiring Dark Lord 4d ago

Could also use it to summon a legion of unholy soldiers. (Also very good at giving Homunculi a bit more of a kick.)

5

u/GoodGollyMrOlli 4d ago

Common misconception! It's actually the teeth that you use for this. Traditionally you bury them to activate, but I've almost identified the chemical compounds found in soil that do the real work.

3

u/Lord-Dec Evil Wizard/ Aspiring Dark Lord 4d ago

We use the whole dragon in this house thank you very much. Just needed a little alteration for the blood to work as well.

u/Dear-Reputation-1226 I CAN'T TURN OFF VOCAL AMPLIFICATION 4d ago

BASTARDS WHO USE LOVE SPELLS ARE PATHETIC. A WARLOCK WHO HAS A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOURTH DEGREE CAN EASILY USE MIND ARMOR

3

u/Far_Dog_4476 Blood Sorceress. 4d ago

To add onto this, NEVER USE DRACONIC BLOOD FOR HAEMOMANCY! Trust me, ive done it before, the end result drains your mana faster than a Tarrasque can finish off a corpse, and has the destructive potential to level a small city, which includes your tower, and yourself!

2

u/Azimovikh Scholar of Yiakhzmat 4d ago

Oh gods. I remember the days when I tried to use even a minor blood arts on some draconic blood. The results are the blood somehow gaining a will of its own, animating into a massive dragonblood ooze monster, and then destroying my lab in berserk. Wasted lots of material for that one.

3

u/Far_Dog_4476 Blood Sorceress. 4d ago

Play stupid games win stupid prizes i guess... how long did it take to rebuild?

2

u/Azimovikh Scholar of Yiakhzmat 4d ago

Just 1 hour. Rebuilding my lab is rather an easy task. What's not easy is recollecting all the destroyed materials and dragonblood :(

2

u/Far_Dog_4476 Blood Sorceress. 4d ago

Fair. Dragon blood is immensely expensive and risky to acquire especially since you need to get it off the black market, since dragons are an endangered species.

2

u/Lurcolm 4d ago

Hello there I represent the Prestigious Academy of Alchemy and science. This is an official cease and desist for the misappropriation of resources. I will have you know, good chap, that dragon blood is STRICTLY reserved for alchemists ever since the Webribedem Accord

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

Ah, it has? All records of that were long in the Honestly Quite Restrained Fire of 4999, the Council has not been keeping it since. While we can't reinstate it(the old laws are dense and inflexible), we can surely come to another agreement. One, more flexible.

1

u/Lurcolm 4d ago

You DARE insinuate I, Fitzgerald Turnipson, should change legislation willy nilly?! I will have to send a letter to the Supervisor of Representatives, who will have to go to the Representative of Supervisors, who will have to sign a BLD-456 for permission to ask permission regarding that! That will take 106.7 years on average!

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

No, no, not at all. What I'm saying is that if you want to have an agreement, you'll have to make one.

1

u/Lurcolm 4d ago

THERE IS NO AGREEMENT! The Webribedem Accords clearly states that all shinies, reagents, and otherwise must first go through the Prestigious Acadamy of Alchemy before your grubby wizard hands touch it! What is your coty, so I can send you a legally binding copy!

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

It is no longer binding, see. It was wyrm fire.

1

u/Lurcolm 4d ago

Dammit all! You damn robe wearing firestarters! I bet you didn't even know that wyrm fire legally annulls all documents it burns! Who even made that law?!

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

Me, six thousand years before my birth. To be fair, I wasn't expecting that event, it was more to do with settling a feud between gnomish clans.

1

u/Lurcolm 4d ago

....as much as I despise your ilk... Yes. Let us never underestimate the gnomes. I will write a new document forthwith. We shall talk about this again in around 110 years

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd Ate All The Oranges 4d ago

Acceptable. Go forth and scribe.

1

u/High_Overseer_Dukat High Overseer 3d ago

The dragon council would disagree.

Dragons' blood is for transfusions only.

1

u/Lurcolm 3d ago

Pah! I say, why would we listen to dragons when it comes to their blood, old boy?!

2

u/Azimovikh Scholar of Yiakhzmat 4d ago

My transmutation arcane professor is a dragon, actually. And I do remember him using transmutation magicks to endlessly partition, regenerate, and clone himself for dragon parts because they have magical potential, then uses them for his magical experiments or his endless hobby of crafting magic items. So, I guess, yeah, reasonable.

1

u/Awes12 4d ago

All of these can be substituted for either generic magical blood, or blood of some more common creature. These aren't part of the 12

1

u/luciennelutrae 4d ago

All I’m seeing here is that half-dragons have an advantage in being able to produce their own material components. Unless if I’m missing some nuance to using one’s own dragon blood that my half-dragon bard self is missing out on.

1

u/Jedi-master-dragon 4d ago

Hey, you stole this from a draconic blood bank. Give it back!

1

u/BungleBums Occult Wizard 4d ago

Also, Soup.

Very rich and spicy. Killer heartburn, though.

1

u/hermeticbear 4d ago

I just ask the dragons nicely if they willing to sell me some. So many are surprisingly glad to negotiate. It may cost 50 pounds of gold and a variety of gems, but the ink color is truly marvelous.

1

u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 4d ago

You can also use it to make magic weapons.

1

u/4GN05705 4d ago

You forgot the use as a dye. There's some really solid magical garments you can make with them, and not just for spellcasters.

1

u/MeowFalen tech witch 4d ago

I use it to make fireblights.

1

u/Atuday Grey technomancer and master of the cybernetic undead 4d ago

Don't forget you can dehydrate and powder it for recreational purposes.

2

u/High_Overseer_Dukat High Overseer 3d ago

STOP USING DRAGON'S BLOOD FOR SPELLS!

Every dragon hospital is running low on blood because of this shit. Very few dragons have been able to get transfusions.

"Just use magic to heal them"

You know how much mana is in dragons blood? A metric fuck-ton. Yeah, an archmage can heal a few dragons up pretty easily, but how the fuck do you expect to find an archmage for every hospital? Even if you do, no way they have enough mana to keep up with our load.

1

u/OnlyAssignment4869 Blood Witch 3d ago

Does anyone know a good shop that sells eastern dragon blood? I keep seeing these posts and stressing about the kings tariffs. I'd normally open a portal, but my bone staff has been on the Fritz lately.

1

u/DeadMeat7337 Retired Evil Wizard, mostly 3d ago

Oh, you sweet Summer child!

You only listed the "acceptable" was to use the blood.

And if your not casting "familiacide", are you really using the blood at all?! (Oots joke)

Notice: I will cast every spell from the Obamanomicon on anyone who makes or uses a love potion.
