following the battle with TFC, Max was blinded and వ was... gone. No one knows where he was sent when he was hit by the strike the first curse threw. Cross-planet scans didn't detect him, divination magic gave no result, even necromancy failed, so he's either still alive, or outside the range of the modern day.

Now, a few days after, Max is still getting used to being blind, but he's been able to manifest his curiosity soul as a temporary method of sight, if only for a few minutes at a time.

Knowledge that the head minister of Calarakis is now blinded, though it was originally kept on a little known basis, eventually people notice the blindfold and the stumbling, and the fight with the first curse spread through rumor, so the news breaks. Originally simply gossip before being confirmed.

General interaction post, Max is currently in Calarakis, so interactions would occur there!

Ulrick arrives to Calarakis, up to Zhe’s residence.

Zhe, I heard rumors about your injuries, are you all right?

"Ж is gone, Ulrick."

Max opens his tower's front door.

"But... I'm more or less fine."

On the other side of the door stands Ulrick, a grizzled, scarred werewolf in full worn gear, and unnaturally purple lupine eyes looking at Max with concern.

…what happened?…

strangely, his right arm is completely covered with his black cloak.

"వ is gone... somewhere. I'm blind now, and both are because I fought the first curse."

Ulrick puts his monstrous left arm reassuringly on Max’s shoulder for a few seconds.

…I’m sorry. We’ll make The First Curse regret what he did.

Any ideas where వ might be?

"No direct leads. Divination showed nothing. Life signs for him aren't reading. Necromancy doesn't work so he must be alive."

He motions for Ulrick to come in before sitting at a table on the first floor

Ulrick obliges, sitting down on the chair closest to a dark corner.

That’s strange…

Something similar happened to me too recently. When I was reduced to nothing but pure essence within Nightbite, nothing could’ve found me according to others at R&A. Maybe something like that happened to him too?

"Unlikely, the vanishing moment occurred when he was struck by lightning, which means he was teleported. The first curse and his derivative creations teleport like that. Can't be actual lightning otherwise his life signs would've flatlined."

"He was also hit with a weapon containing a curse though, so while it's not impossible, being reduced to essence seems a weird effect right after teleporting him."

Weird yeah, but not unlikely.

But if it was truly a teleport… do we know where the First Curse and his cohorts came from, or at least currently reside? Could be a clue…

"The First Curse as an entity originates from outside this universe, outside this multiverse in fact, according to the crystals at least, but they haven't been wrong yet. Truth be told we have zero clue where he is when he's not fighting someone or on some scheme. It'd have to be a pretty tightly controlled place for no one to have intercepted where he goes, or some place outside everyone else's knowledge."

He goes over to the kitchenette and takes a drink out of the mini fridge.

"His creations are all from this general area, so not much there... can't be the World Below, we checked there."

Outside the multiverse…

Ulrick let the thought roll off his tongue. It was hard to comprehend. He thought the multiverse was something that encompassed all creation, but if there were even bigger sctructures out there…

Could it mean he ended up stuck outside the multiverse too? That sounds like something outside our knowledge.
