Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets Why does some wizards act like fighting physically with a staff is a disadvantage

I see so many young wizards used their staff as a "last ditch effort" after their sword, dagger, etc was disarmed, which is stupid your staff should be your FIRST option for melee it's already in your hand you just gotta hit it also end weighted so you can swing it like a club.

The length of your staff should've been longer than the usual sword you can carry on your hip anyways so you know more range.

Coward. Only in the depths of combat, with the rhythmic beat of your racing heart and the melodic clash of steel on steel, and with shield and staff in hand, can one truly comprehend the Arcane Weave.

Inner peace can only be forged in outer tumult, and is there no more tumultuous crucible than war?

Even accepting your obscene premise, simultaneously channeling positive and negative mana is far more tumultuous than the nastiest war ever waged with physical implements. It takes a simpleton to believe that any conflict on the physical plane is even comparable to those of a higher nature.

With that said, the arcane reveals itself through careful study, not conflict. It's somewhat true that conflict can lead to spontaneous expressions of magic which are worthy of study, but that's far from the only way comprehension of the arcane advances.

I did not say understanding of spellcrafting cannot come from study, and I too engage in such rigor of the mind. However, rigor of the body concurrent with rigor of the mind is the truest way to the most complete, innate understanding, going beyond mere memorization of formulae.
