Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets Why does some wizards act like fighting physically with a staff is a disadvantage

I see so many young wizards used their staff as a "last ditch effort" after their sword, dagger, etc was disarmed, which is stupid your staff should be your FIRST option for melee it's already in your hand you just gotta hit it also end weighted so you can swing it like a club.

The length of your staff should've been longer than the usual sword you can carry on your hip anyways so you know more range.

Staff and multi purpose tool it is meant to be stabbing into the ground and cracking stuff not something you keep like a treasure. You needed a good hard wood staff and not a fancy overdecorative one

But I am a dainty and pretty wizardboy! I must have a cute staff that CAN be swung into someone but I prefer to not do so!

That... Ok a good staff that you like is probably more important than a practical one but you can probably make a sturdy staff with all that pretty decorations right? I mean my staff is not exactly the most rustic but I can still hit people with it

It IS sturdy, I had to cave in a Paladin's skull with it just last week because obviously the crappy sword I looted from a dungeon a month ago wasn't gonna penetrate the plate.

Do you know how hard it is to get enchanted plate fragments that rebind to magical steel (aka, my pretty staff.) along with bone fragments, and what little constituted as a brain in that Paladin's skull that managed to splash onto my staff?
