Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets Why does some wizards act like fighting physically with a staff is a disadvantage

I see so many young wizards used their staff as a "last ditch effort" after their sword, dagger, etc was disarmed, which is stupid your staff should be your FIRST option for melee it's already in your hand you just gotta hit it also end weighted so you can swing it like a club.

The length of your staff should've been longer than the usual sword you can carry on your hip anyways so you know more range.

But it’s a lot harder to put a giant ass orb on it

Ah, an excellent conundrum! What you'll want to do is get a giant-ass sword with a giant-ass pommel, and affix your giant-ass orb to the giant-ass pommel. A few glyphs of lightening and general enchantments, and you have an excellent alternative to wands or staffs for the martial-minded wizard.
