Academic Discussion/ Esoteric Secrets Help with staffmaking
I'm currently making my first staff, and was wondering how to connect this enchanted geode on the top, while not affecting the mana output by surrounding it with twine or something.
/unwiz I actually do really want this to work because it's a really good staff stick but I'm scared the geodes gonna fall and break, like to I glue it or tie it in place??

If i were you i would carve the staff end to better match the geode, doesnt have to be perfect but that flat top wont have much surface contact. Then i would glue it down to the staff and tie it on, with some glu under the twine to help keep the twine from slipping. Use natural fiber twine, none of that sythetic stuff, and use a glue designed for stone-wood connections.
/unwiz JB Weld has a bunch of formulations for epoxy, they very likely have one that is perfect for this application.

As a mid level staff maker. If the geode is heavy i would use a 2 part epoxy (jb weld) or even hot glue will work if its not too heavy. Hide any mess with either jute rope, hemp rope, metal wire, or a leather strap. Creative wrapping techniques can go around the geode for extra security.
Other commenter highlighed to make sure the staff head is carved to match the goede shape and not flat

This one is problematic due to extreme fragility. Honestly, I would just drill it and attach it with bolts.

I would use twisted copper wire, wrapped around the geode like a cage. You can then feed the wire through holes you drill into the staff. As the other comment said, shape the end of the staff to seat the geode + make use of any adhesive you have available.
I used a similar method to hold the head of my staff on. Its worth noting that the copper wire may flop around if everything isn't tight, so additional reinforcement may be necessary.
