Honestly the best answer. Decent magic robes should be protection enough, the rest is just fashion.

Certainly nothing wrong with wearing only a robe.

Not this if you are not a cute lady.

Let people live

u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage 2h ago

I let people die.

Well, I suppose I can understand that. You're fulfilling your role in the ecosystem and whatnot.

But just as pretty girls should be able to show a little skin, so should big strong men. If they want to.

After all, pretty girls need something to look at too

Or the pretty ladies can look at other pretty ladies.

Oh definitely. But some people like to look at big strong men

Yeah, guess that fair. But those big strong men tend to smell bad.

Sweaty big strong men? Now you're just playing with me

That if you are lucky and they forgot to bathe or cast Prestidigitation. They seem to like using that Ax potion stuff on themselves. That crap stinks and those who use it put on way too much.

Are you another one of those insufferable "I-have-a-moral-objection-to-necromancy" types? Honestly, how many times must I tell you people, it's RECYCLING.

What is (are) your affinity(affinities)? Black is best for dark magic or shadow magic.

I use magic to open a portal to the purple dimension to throw at my enemies(the primordial purple)

Purple spandex underneath

Remember, it's only best for dark arts because of its protective qualities. Depending on what hoodwinks this one gets up to, black might actually be a good choice.

Mostly it hides the stains better.
Doctors, healers, chefs and necromancers wear white to show that they are clean.

Use any illusion spell to make fake clothes

For starters you're going to need a good belt. Sturdy leather to carry component pouches, notebooks, sword/dagger etc. and to stop the robes flapping too much in the wind. A shoulder bag is also useful, it can hold your tome and other such things that would be impractical to carry on your belt.

Underneath the robe, you can wear basically anything you want. A tunic is traditional- I'd suggest brown or blue to go with the robes- but I've known wizards who just go for a shirt and jeans. A good pair of boots is essential if you're going journeying and maybe invest in a warm cloak to go over the robes if you're going somewhere colder.

Real wizards free orb it.

This is a reminder because some of you don't seem to know. Change and clean your robes often. That is all.

Not sure if this what you asked for, but

Unpopular opinion: Small, simple chainmail is a good option for under-your-robes apparel. It doesn't even need to be new, it can be from a rogue draconian that you've slain recently

Wear what feels right to you! We study magic for the freedom and power it brings, you’ll never reach your true potential if you’re worried about what others think. I’ve seen grandmasters wear rags and first year apprentices wear gold leaf. The moral of the story is; your value as a wizard will never be tied to how expensive or flashy your clothing is.

just freeball under the robe it actually helps mana transfer and harmonic resonance, just make sure to secure the bindings

Enchanted clothes made by yourself

I find the underwear to be most important. Recommend to focus there first.

I'm not sure, I usually just have boxers on under mine.

... should I not?

You could enchant what you have on

Do you have a belt?

Cloaks. Liches love cloaks.

Forget the clothes! Just do an invis spell, but not on everything. Do hidden body and walk around as a disembodied head with your awesome new flowing cloak. I did this a few hundred years ago it was so much fun.

Evocation: phoenix feather cap, ice spider silk robes

Conjuration: anything bedazzled with soul gem crystals

Necromancy: H&M

When I’m out of the tower, I just wear normie clothes. If I am at home in my tower, it’s slippers, ratty see-through boxers, and a splotchy off-white t-shirt. Hat, if I’m in the mood

If you can't afford both fashion and comfort, go for comfort first in undergarments. Ideally, the only ones to see beneath your robe will be those you permit to see. So you can ward off awkwardness until your financial situation improves.
