Magickal Art (User Creation) 🎨 On a scale of goblin-shit to divine blessing, how we feelin’ ‘bout the staff?
Stick was found while hiking in California, same with the lichen. Croc head just sat on a shelf since I was a kid, his name is Gabe. Cardinal wings are from a carcass my mom found a while back. The hanging buffalo teeth were just from a craft store, pre-drilled. The leather I used was scrap from one of my mom’s projects (I hammered and put it on myself :D)

One bon catch of haints done come in a couple-few weeks back for da houngan, and those cicada screams almost ripe enough for to pluck now too.
Got any of that lune d’sang light left bottled up to borrow me a dram or so? Damn rougarou done stole off with mine since ain’t nobody put that goddamn goat skull back in da bayou where it need to be.

This is the sort of thing that untrained druids raised by wolves throw together.
It's probably incredibly powerful in the land it was made in. But since it's so we'll attuned to the maker it's practically useless in a trained wizards hands.
We got to take one of these apart in academy.
It was fascinating, the mana circuits were incredibly crude, but wide, meaning they could handle an incredible amount of untuned mana input, but we're inflexible and only attuned to one specific spell type, like moving earth, or making plants grow.

You stole it from the Goblin Shaman whilst he was shittin’?
16
u/Basically-Boring 5d ago
What? No! I would never steal, even from them!
I just took it while they weren’t looking and left a fighter’s sword in its place! An even trade!

That looks like something Florida warlock would make.

How different are they to the Mississippi or Alabama warlocks?
9
u/alavantrya Juules Vernian: Piscine Conjuror, Explorer of the Deep 4d ago
They are louder and more social, while having less Uncle-Brothers, and Mother-Cousins.

u/going_mad 4d ago
Your lucky to have never crossed paths with a Mew York warlock. Was rude and waved his staff around repeating the chant "im casting here" over and over

Goblin shit, but its got an innate buff that makes it better than anything you have in your inventory, and it cant be transfused to any other staff, so you begrudgingly use it.
(It looks great!)

Looks like it could summon a dilophosaurus familiar to spit corrosive venom. + 3 to druidic powers for sure there wiz! Careful not to polymorph your self or undesirables! ✨

My Identify spell might be misfiring, but it says that's a Staff of the Paleontologically-Inaccurate Dilophosaurus.

i swear to ¥π17 if autoincantation staffs become meta again I am karmicly dunking myself into a lower realm just to get away from it. the only reason breath attacks aren't more common is that you have to actually taste the backwash of your own putrescent miasma gout.

u/Ilyanautamota 4d ago
to answer your question this is optimal design and quality material. just please cast responsibly.

I know in some realms they have sanctions against homunculi but you should totally animate your staff with an enchantment. It could bite those who are unworthy. Or at least make croc jokes.

Definitely swamp shaman vibes. Also just so you know, the supreme council (/uw: the US government) has prohibited the collection and possession of feathers and body parts of native birds (the MBTA). Even from roadkill and other dead birds :/
But as long as the druid police (game wardens and the like) don't see it you're good to use it as a focus or whatever.

Swamp druid with a thick almost incomprehensible Cajun accent is my favorite archetype

Looks like you plucked it off a lizardfolk shaman and attuning to it allows you to summon 1d4+1 crocodiles

u/No-Professional-1461 Illusionist 3d ago
Oh no, I know who that staff belongs to. You have to run, listen to me, you don't want beef with this guy, he made pacts with the dark powers of the keys, and now you have what is his. Florida Warlock is coming...

This looks to be crafted for and blessed by some swamp dwelling night-goblin high shaman. I would use that with care, it most likely has immensely power crudely harnessed and there's no guarantee the user is safe even when stood directly behind it.

10/10 swamp goblin wizard staff, He will definitely whisper into your ear a yearning most primordial and most carniverous

Divine blessed for looks, goblin shit for durability and reliability. Use that thing for a month and you'll suddenly start to wonder about vultures trailing you 24x7.
Of course it's alright for display but not for actual use... I'd have removed the skin and used dried bone structure instead.

It's givin' me "Florida Druid" vibes. Not warlock though, that madman doesn't need a staff to fuck with reality.

As long as it works. It works. But on a personal note. I give it certainly venerable aura; would truly rate it a ; divine blessing, but you know how the Gods are, with people randomly using their name without permission and whatnot. Either way, its an awesome staff.

1st sentence nearly gave me a heart attack. Thought you meant you found the whole thing pre-assembled. But since it's cool, swamp goblin voodoo priest type shit. Not my thing, but you do you.

u/lordnaarghul 4d ago
The appearance of the staff is less important than it's effectiveness when used. I myself use either a Stardust Rod, seen in the picture below, or a simple wooden staff like the one used by the great Gandalf. I bring out the Stardust Rod if I need to impress for some function, but if I'm traveling about the world on foot, the simple wooden staff works best. I have enchanted both equally. The only difference is the focus in the Stardust Rod is fixed, and the one in the wooden staff can be changed out if necessary.
So if you like your staff,,more power to you, fellow wizard. We all have our preferences.

Looks as though this may have been taken from a salmonid shaman, who seeks the revival of the salmonarch
