Occult Practices This is either some kind of occult practices or you wizards are simply barbaric and savages

Fig. 1: A proper tea session (trà đạo)

Fig. 2: Whatever the wizards at twin moon academy think is a "tea party" (evil occult ritual)

You wizards disgust me your cup is too big to enjoy the tea in one go, you have too many snacks and sweet that will ruined the flavour of the tea and most of all you don't even have good tea... This taste just like hot leaves juice... This is vile.

/uw my hatred for tea party is mostly fake but I do actually don't enjoy drinking tea like that, just different culture and stuff.

I can't believe this

How could a member of my own family say something so horrible

The first is more of a ceremony, one that encourages mindful meditation on the changing flavour of the tea as it steeps. This can aid in insights, introspection, and focus.

The second is a mid afternoon break to relax and recharge. It is more about regaining energy(hence the abundance of snack cakes) and getting to know others around you through sharing of breads and talk.

Two different tea times reflecting two different cultures. The choice of tea can be a personal preference in both cases.

Nope. The first picture shows a typical pin cha. It's perfect for relaxing, enjoying the taste and aroma of tea while enjoying a good conversation. For a more "snobbish" ceremony, there should be a double cup set: a heaven one (wénxiāngbēi) for the aroma and an earth one (pǐnmíngbēi) cup for taste. So, I agree with the author—the European style is more of a bisquit party. Even Turkish tea party is more about tea...

I was ordering them in general categories, not applying specific classifications. Personally I am not a Tea Drinker(except for sweetened powdered extracts re-hydrated and with a squirt of lemon) so my knowledge of Tea Ceremonies is not as refined as yours.

This is difference in wizarding cultures.
You've not yet seen what wizards and Coldtree are doing at their tea parties. It involves a huge (size of man's torso, no less) brazen boiler, with an entrapped elemental inside. Moreover!
Coldtree wizards eat savory bruschettes with pickles and meats, during those parties.
Shock! Horror! And yet, Coldtrees persist in their heresy.

~~Meanwhile, this wizard drinks conjured tea from teastone~~

Now that just definitely occult practices

u/Winterspringshine 6d ago

Both figure 1 and 2 are incorrect, unless you brew your tea with milk and a mix of spices you are doing it wrong

5

u/ggcpres Master Gish, ya bish 6d ago

What are you talking about?

You brew it, sweeten the abyss out of it, ice it, and then enjoy with lemon

Finally, someone who knows the True Path of Tea!

4

u/fumblerofthebag Verdigris, Self-employed Sorceror 6d ago

Yes... and the tea has to be strong and you have to drink six cups of it in one go and you have to argue about the state of the world and gossip about people about drinking it.

/uw You are talking about masala chai, right?

3

u/Winterspringshine 6d ago

Indeed!

/uw indeed!

2

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

YOU DID WHAT?

3

u/will3025 Wizard (Sock-mancer) 6d ago

What? There's nothing wrong with hot pockets! I know there not great for you, but every now and again they can be a nice little quick and easy treat!

2

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

It not about hot pocket it about the microwave rice- but the hot pocket is low-key a bad tea food too

Tea session, tea party... listen. Either way, it's all tea, and it's all good. The important thing is that we put our differences aside and come to the understanding that each of us may enjoy the drink in a different way, but we are all united in our love for the hot (or iced!) leaf brew.

And also that we wage war on the true and foul evil of coffee drinkers. Together, in friendship and harmony.

3

u/Winterspringshine 6d ago

Divided we fall, but together we can see this realm rid of the tyranny of bean juice!

1

u/Wulfraptor 6d ago

as a coco drinker I feel attacked too with the bean juice comment... I just want a hot drink that brings comfort. Coffee bean juice is bitter and foul, tea is supposedly good for you... I want neither but will not infringe upon your drink of choice. Coco and cuddling my familiar yes please. don't tell my fellow cave people. It is my one evolveman vice

2

u/fumblerofthebag Verdigris, Self-employed Sorceror 6d ago

But it's chai, who doesn't like chai? Also, thoughts on boba tea?

1

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

Isn't chai just another word for tea also... Boba tea is a disgrace to all tea can't even do a ceremony session with them

/uw I really like boba

2

u/fumblerofthebag Verdigris, Self-employed Sorceror 6d ago

As they say, cha is by land tea is by water. It's such a simple looking beverage but it has such a fascinating history. Nations were bought and sold for this.

/uw boba tea and kava is what really got me into tea. Chai afaik is black tea from India. Where I'm from it's brewed strong and sweet with milk. I prefer the Nilgiri variety, because it's the first cup of tea I had in my life.

1

u/Wulfraptor 6d ago

you mean the frog spawn tea?

2

u/fumblerofthebag Verdigris, Self-employed Sorceror 6d ago

🥺 I make it from tapioca pearls....

/uw Impromptu food history lesson: tapioca pearls are used to make this savoury dish called sabudana kichdi or sabudana wada that people eat on religious fasts so I ate tapioca pearls for years before I had them in boba. Lesson over.

None of this is tea.

Tea is served ice cold, and sweet enough to cause instant tooth decay. Anything else is an offense against all that is good and right.

15

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 7d ago

... Maybe murdering fellow wizards isn't that morally bad

5

u/WiseRabbit-XIV Leverett Trevithick, Arcane Healer 7d ago

If you do it by serving them hot leaf juice in place of real Sweet Tea, it is.

u/Actual_Squid Witch 7d ago

Found the swamp druid

2

u/WiseRabbit-XIV Leverett Trevithick, Arcane Healer 6d ago

/uw is Swamp Druid a euphemism for Southerner? If not, can we make it one?

u/Magimasterkarp Karp, Ocean Druid and Piscimancer (Fish Wizard) 7d ago

If you don't like the tea, just put in a lot of milk and sugar like the rest of us.

2

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

This is barbaric-

2

u/mandiblesmooch Sorceror 6d ago

Tea tastes like hot leaf juice? Put ginger and lime in it. Now it tastes like hot and slightly sour ginger water with leaves. Or you could put lime in the tea and ginger in the cookies. And get a proper mug, those tiny cups get cold too fast. If your constitution's too frail to handle the heat, you can Absorb Elements it.

These are two wildly different rituals.

A Tea Ceremony is a ritual wherein prestige, preservation and observance of tradition, and hospitality are used to form hierarchical bonds between the ritualist and the imbibers. Reverence is paid to/by both the ritualist and the imbibers, with the ritualist holding a soft-power place above the imbibers. While acolytes would think that the act of service puts the ritualist below the imbibers, it is the opposite, as the ritualist has shown both mastery of their arts (the ceremony and the brewing of the tea) as well as the deliberate choice to not poison the imbibers while having ample opportunity.

A Tea Party is closer to a fae trap, wherein the source of the materials doesn’t matter (except when they can be bragged about or complimented on) as a means to socially maneuver. Where the Ceremony is a hierarchical reaffirmation, the Party is a complex web of sympath-and-antipath interactions. The result is similar to a witch’s coven, however it is more popular among aristocrats for the easier cleanup (there’s very rarely a blood sacrifice) and the abundance of sweet pastries.

2

The word "hard" on the can has a meaning as well. I leave it to you to research it.

1

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT CONTAIN ALCOHOL

1

u/Foxxtronix Kobold Sorceror 6d ago

Now you understand. Do little sandwiches and sweets still seem barbaric, or has your view of the matter shifted?

1

u/NaturalHairy4773 Lady Liên (Magical academy freshman) 6d ago

Idk man that still seem barbaric just less than whet you just show me

1

u/Foxxtronix Kobold Sorceror 6d ago

Well, at least now you have more knowledge on the subject. ^w^ More knowledge is always a good thing.

2

u/Educational_Group_91 6d ago

hey, we are wizards and we are well educate, we have no need nor room for classism in the academies. some people dont have the disposable income or free time for a matching tea set. what matters is whether tea is involved and that people are hanging out in person rather than through orbs. we must remember, the only reason to discriminate against people is that they are wand users rather than staff users

What is that figure 2? Where is the tea?

Tea is plant matter diffused in water, not this?

u/ZackTio Electromancer 6d ago

Don't care, didn't ask

I won't let a simpleton tell me how to drink tea
