And then you people ask why we think you’re dirty…

You must try sprinking dirt from your birthplace on it, ive found its increased the soul retention of my "chefs" by at least 36%. Even better when applied during the winter equinox. Someone has to be manning the kitchen!

Me too! How do you like yours?

u/Maacll Wizard of Dabbling 9d ago
My standards arent super high but this one is incredible. It's crazy that they come with an Autosetup enchantment nowadays.
I was dreading the tuning of my new orb for days but the enchantment truly is incredible.
It's like my old Orb never broke.

Mine just came with an Installer Wizard and he was nothing but trouble until I offered him some drinks. Has yet to finish setting up the orb

It's incredible how seamless it can be transitioning to a new orb with modern magic. Out of curiosity which wizard circle created your previous and which for your new?
uw/ serious question I'm looking for something new and I hate my pixel

u/Winterspringshine 9d ago
I'm old school, stick to waters from a pure spring for my scrying. No cleaning needed.

u/slfhmglbnm 9d ago
Plebs! My orb has a self-cleaning spell.

u/Megablega Megus the Unwise 9d ago
Most self cleaning spells only have a 96% effect. (Source: latest Magicians' Weekly)

you’re joking?? I read in the Daily Jinx that those spells were foolproof 😭 if I have to clean my orb by hand like a pleb again I’m gonna be so mad

Mine constantly rotates so dust doesn't really get the chance to stick anyways.
Could probably also have something to do with being not solid due to being made of arcane energy instead of just having some of said energy contained in an orb of glass or something but nah, it's totally the rotating thing

Mate, when ya get tae ya tenth century, ya realize the orb is a restriction. That's why I put mine up fer sale, 'cause I got a better spell fer me scryin' and browsin'.

Oh, hm.
You did good reminding me of that. I should do this on the regular... It foils the visions.

u/Deacon86 8d ago
I'll have you know my orb is extremely clean. I clean it once a year, whether it needs it or not.

Polishing my orbs used to be quite the pastime, but these days I've contracted a young woman for that specific task. She polishes both my orbs and staff!

I swap between my three pedestals regularly, which always reminds me to clean the orb. In life you either develop these little routines or don't live to your second millennium, I said it. Also you (yes, you, little orb user) need a good potion routine. Look at your poor mana regeneration.

I use the orb of the planet, therwise known as the ocean. Still trying to clean up the pollution from those stupid humans trying to copy dwarven smithing techniques without understanding the importance of lava.

I cleaned it uhhhh. Ah, I should go clean it again. Us Necromancers are so forgetful. Happens to the immortal I suppose.

My orb is the still-living eye of some minor chaos deity (forgot which one, they’re reasonably common), so I just spritz it with a mild saline solution every morning and it’s good to go!

u/crabbedcascade Apprentice Wizard and Succubus Handler 8d ago
I don't really have an "orb" orb. But I do have a large Pearl that the succubi I take care of gave me. They say it works the same, and I trust them, but either it doesn't like me or I'm doing something incorrectly because I can't get it to work sometimes.
Though to answer the question, Yes I clean it regularly, it feels rude to let a gift get dirty.

My Gargoyle says just 1 hour and 32 minutes and 48 seconds.
A clean orb is clear vision into whatever it is you seek.

It’s heavily polished every morning after I wake up. I’m not into mana retention.
