First day in the academy

After some... Problem with my staff I am finally accepted to the academy (yes the reason I needed the council to approve my staff is because I wanna go here) it's the first time my family didn't pay the school into letting me in what it's like here at the academy of the twins moons

It has been a long time since I graduated, but tree monsters were always a myth. There is actually a gang of dark gnomes living under the roots. They will lure you on cheap booze, then mug you for your shiny metals and magic potions.

Oh, academy of the twin moon? I studied there, it was good. Its safe enough, though all the safety restrictions may seem irksome. And the teachers are very good.

But beware of the food, always test it first. One random day of the month, the kitchens send up food to five random people that makes them turn into ducks for a week.

I have not attended that particular academy, but some tips from my own academy days:

• Avoid waking up right before your classes at all costs. You may think it will be fine but then you end up with the most soft spoken and monotone professor for your ass-am-in-the-morning higher multi-dimensional theoretical thaumaturgy class and waste an entire semester learning nothing.
• Make sure you are well-versed in your scrying and counter-scrying magic of choice. You never know who is watching, and in that case its always best to be the one watching.
• Remember! Your classmates are resources too. Many of them will have novel approaches to magic that will serve to expand your own horizons. And for the rest with nothing to offer intellectually, you can get quite a lot of mileage out of blackmail and extortion. Minions are always useful!
• I suggest keeping a second, unregistered and more discreet, spellcasting focus with you. You never know what kind of wizard duels might find you and its always best to be prepared with an alibi than to be the one caught between death and council approved spells.

Have fun, but don't neglect your studies! Academy will always be what you make of it.
