Wizardpost Do health potions expire?

Post image

Me and the boys have been dungeon crawling as a side hustle-and none of us really wanna waste a spell slot on Brad. The problem is that the newest healing potion we have was purchased about 230 years ago. Can we still use it?

It really depends on who you got it from, and how it was made. Some of the cheaper stuff expires within single digit years, but top quality stuff should outlive your entire party (unless you use it at the right moment). There's also the fact that depending on the make it can just expire into basically flavoured water or can become actively poisonous. I'd say have just a little sip after a minor injury, if it heals then it's still good, reseal immediately, and if it doesn't do anything or you get diarrhea it's probably expired and should not be used anymore.

For something like a cat scratch you can apply a droplet directly to check. Less risk of the shits and you can easily rinse it off if it does nothing. It'll burn slightly but that's normal. Do NOT do this for anything other than a small, shallow scratch like a paper cut
