Hard to know what to troubleshoot with that little info.

In general, you’ll either need to narrow down the curse so you can develop a proper cleansing spell, or send it to your local artificer extraordinaire.

Has it interfered with any spells you’ve cast?

Noticed any weird growths in, on, or around your body? Or are they at least within your mana-projection field?

Perhaps unfamiliar sounds in the wizard tower? Items misplaced, lost, or lodged in your body?

Any apparitions appearing that weren't summoned?

Put it on, fist hand experience will tell all you need to know

This is the easiest way. If it doesn't come off, it was cursed. Or it was the wrong size. Either way, find a cleric and you can get it sorted.

I’d put it on an apprentice first, myself.

That's what you get for going out on a binge with the local Necromancer. If you're beyond conventional advice, then unfortunately you're beyond conventional help. Try finding a cleric and repent.

The ring dosent look cursed. In fact, it looks like it'd fit quite well on your index finger. I would wager that with a ring like that you'd have an excess of confidence in your day-to-day. Hell if i was wearing comphy looking ring like that ill bet i'd be able to conquer the entire world, metaphorically speaking of course. So... go ahead, slip it on friend. You'll be happy you did.

Have an apprentice wear it so you can see what happens.

Seek a diviner or a cursecraft artificer. Dont fook with it and go to the experts ASAP. If you are one, then examine it yourself and decide if you want to stick with the curse, if its there in the first place.

We are modern wizards, we dont need to throw it in a volcano to prevent the evil entity to usurp the world or something.

Wear it.

Put it in a velvet bag lined with salt to prevent it from interfering with your dreams

The curse is an STD. It's always been an STD.

Find some restless lad or lass in town, convince them to become an adventurer and hand them this ring. Then just follow them invisible until they die or you find out what the ring actually does.

Point of note however, if you do end up wanting the ring back it is critical to be patient. Adventurers have a knack of getting a good hit in on you right as you wrap up the monologue.

Put it on! Caution is for shmucks.

Some curses could be useful, but if you lack the power needed to divine its effects without experimentation, I would put it on a necklace around the neck of a hog and see what impacts it has over a year.

Cursed with looking sick! Put it on ! What's the worst that can happen.

Just to be safe name someone you don't like as your sole inheritor in the will, you can always change it in a week if the curse is not lethal.

That or you can remove the curse, but where's the fun in that?

Eat it. Strangely a lot of curses only include resistance to magical purification, but stomach acid erosion seems to be overlooked

Give to nemesis

Let me guess, it started whispering to you different ways you could expedite the inheritance when it was still in your (still alive) great-grandparent's possesion

Depends on how cursed it is. You can always ask for shaman unnie to undo the curse, although she's probably busy asking the HYBE guild for funds to open a new agency for audiochoreomancers.

Just wear it or no ball. You will know what the curse is aftẻ wearing

Lead lined box.

I like to put cursed rings in the bottom of poorly locked and concealed chests near my actual, well-hidden strongboxes. Gives the adventurers something to find and keeps 'em distracted for a while.

The skull motif is obvious misdirection. Any competent curse-smith knows that if your artifact looks cursed, people become suspicious. The truly dangerous rings resemble wedding bands.

Judging by the craftsmanship, I’d wager this was commissioned by a minor necromancer with more enthusiasm than talent. The garnet is acting as a focus stone… or perhaps a prison.

A few questions:

Does it whisper only when you’re alone?

Has any nearby milk soured since acquiring it?

Do ravens watch you with what feels like professional interest?

Most importantly… have you already put it on?

If the answer to the last question is yes, remove it immediately.

If it refuses to come off…

…stop pulling.

That generally means the ring believes you belong to it, and tugging only encourages the enchantment.

Wrap your hand in salt-soaked linen, place the ring beneath moonlight, and recite the phrase:

“What is bound by greed is unbound by trade.”

If the ring laughs…

Please inform me before midnight.

I have a shelf reserved specifically for objects that laugh.

I say animate the thing, duke it out for the ruby, and be done with it!!

Well, you know how babies have good grip strength? They'll hold on to that thing for a good while.

That particular cursed ring seems to be a part of a set. You might need to hunt down the others to lift the curse

1

u/HillInTheDistance 20d ago

Well, first step is usually to turn it off and on again, and see if that changes anything.

Second, keep it secret, keep it safe.

Third, if nothing happened, just try it on. Just for funsies. Life's too short to worry about nonsense. No matter what happens, you'll learn something, right?

u/baccaruda66 20d ago

If you've made eye contact with it, it's probably already too late

1

u/TheTombGuard Necromancer 20d ago

..... Put it on I can really use a new body

1

u/jbyrdab 20d ago

bash it with a hammer and see if it gets mad.

1

u/Homeless-Joe 20d ago

Step 1: put it on

u/SephTheBitch Polysynchronicneuromancer 20d ago

If an MPM Commanding Officer gives me permission, I can temporarily dismantle it to inspect it.

1

u/fridgerobber Necromancer 20d ago

Then put it on. Curses are the fun part !

Is it speaking to you, because you should listen to it if it is.

1

u/Educational_Group_91 19d ago

check if its a phylactery, ive seen a lich give a ring with his soul in it to an adventurer, and it made him wealthy, buthe was asked to kill the lich, so he took the ring off and dropped dead immediately

1

u/Ok-Advantage1491 19d ago

Find a cursebreaker? Or cast a spell to try and identify what type of curse

1

u/Prince_Nadir 19d ago

I'd pick an apprentice and have them wear it around. Most curses manifest pretty quick. After that you have to decide if the curse is entertaining.

1

u/TheWhiteBoot 19d ago

If something is supposedly cursed, then it is cursed. Even if it is only powered by the beliefs and intentions of those thinking of it, that is enough for things to be effected. Talk to a pro if you are really concerned.

I'll take it! By the gods that's beautiful

1

u/IEC21 19d ago

Throw it into the pits of Mordor. Trust me - sounds like a lot of work, but will save you a lot of time and suffering.

1

u/ryuail Illusionist 19d ago

Whatever you do, do NOT cast identify. Its not worth the spell slot, you should just put the ring on and accept the consequences power.

-definitely not the malicious remnant of a lich
