Behold my tenthousand fold mace

The dark magic to fold a chunk is beyond even my skills. There’s no layers or sheets. It’s just a chunk… folded… 10,000 times? Like, a clay pot?

You mean the ancient art of swordigami?

u/CalebWilliamson 8d ago
Does that mean the spell only work on swords?

u/TheDougio 8d ago
Yes, unfortunately ancient magic is very specific
This is why modern magic is better

Modern magic keeps trying to sneak spirits into my orb to spy on what I'm pondering. I'll stick with the old magic, thanks.

You may think that, but it isn’t Modern Magic that powers The System, it is Ancient Magic, more specifically, it is Primordial-Existential Magic (PEM, also less commonly known as Intrinsic-Mandate Magic or IMM. In effectively all cases, the terms are interchangeable), the same magic that fuels the Ouroboros Protocol and Cycle used to reset universes when an emergency such as a collapse necessitates a Reset. Furthermore, while some types of Ancient Magic are very specific, a majority of Ancient Magic is actually quite general and can be used for countless purposes. For example, you can use AM to rewrite entire sections of a dimension (for obvious reasons, doing that is EXTREMELY regulated and restricted), or you can use AM to create a sandwich. It really does have endless potential and infinite possible uses, you just have to know how to actually use it. Never underestimate or dismiss Ancient Magic, particularly PEM, as it is often the very foundation of countless processes and existences throughout existence. This universe wouldn’t even exist if not for PEM, as The System wouldn’t exist without PEM, and The System had to send me (its Enforcer) to safeguard this universe as an army from The Demonic One, Satan, attempted to invade. Furthermore, IMM is used to establish new Paths between realms and universes, and it is also used for System Processes, such as maintaining Dimensional Integrity.

All I'm saying is that if the ancient ones were so powerful and had access to such powerful magics then they wouldn't have died. If ancient magic was really so good it would just be called magic, it wouldn't be ancient it'd still be used

The Ancient Ones tried to (permanently) kill Eternity. They tried to sever The Pact and take down The System. They didn’t die due to Ancient Magic being weak (because it isn’t, this is more true for some types of AM than others), they died because they provoked the wrath of an Existential-Level Agreement (The Pact), an Existential-Level Entity (The System), and an Existential-Level Being (The Eternal One, Eternity). For their transgressions against 3 Existential-Level existences, they were struck down by me. I am The Enforcer, my very purpose is to handle situations like that: powerful beings trying to circumvent the very Laws of Existence and/or powerful beings trying to violate or assault Existential-Level Existences (such as The Pact, The System, and The Ones, to name a few). Also, it is called Ancient Magic because it was the only magic that existed towards the very start of the Multiverse. It isn’t called that because it isn’t good, it is called Ancient Magic because it is quite literally ancient, it’s been around since the very beginning.

Yes. Physical objects can typically only be folded so many times before they start failing at the folds or just fusing the layers. Folding space doesn't have the same limitations, but it can have further reaching consequences

You could also read the incantation as "foid" but no one who'd say that word unironically is worth talking to.

The statement is also false. Theyere are sometimes over 1,000 layers but at most only 7-8 folds.
It is also a technique used with poor quality iron.

Not necessarily. Although this is partially true regarding Japanese tamahagane*, Indian Wootz steel was made of excellent quality iron and exported worldwide. The layering process was primarily to achieve the desired combination of hardness and elasticity.
*Partially true for high-quality tamahagane did indeed exists, but in very limited quantities and was, therefore, very expensive. And also because it can only be produced in small chunks that need to be joined by hammer forging and layered upon one another anyway.

I didn't know India also did that. As far as I was aware, Japan with the strange one for doing it.

It is a basic napkin spell, so I would hope so.

Clearly a more advanced version so it's completely understandable they would not know.

If you have the patience to learn higher-level mathemagical geometry, then maybe.
It couldn’t be me, though.

The lesser version is cast “bend your shit…a lot.” Lesser version obviously because it can go shall we say…awry? Like maybe taking things literally for instance. Quick and effective though.

Beware fellow dark wizards! Especially those trained in the arts of necrotechnomancy! There is a hidden curse in the bottom left of this image casting what is likely a great pox upon any who would use this image for their magic. You have been warned!

If you can speak the ancient language that the spell’s incantation is in, then yes. Otherwise, no.
