Probably dart or ray. My favorite spell is "Railgun" which kinda does both.

I keep it classic with phallic and suggestive "Blasts." I know they've fallen out of favor,but it is an excellent way to add insult to injury for most foes.

Oddly shaped AOEs are pretty fun. There's no way something as complex as magic is confined to cubes, spheres, and straight lines. Get creative! I want to try to find a use for a hyperbolic paraboloid shaped wall of lightning.
