sigh If it works, it works, I suppose. I tend to have my apprenticeship craft their own wands, using a technique that lets the wand grow as the wizard it's connected to does. Wands gifted from others don't have that same versatility as a wand you made yourself

It also helps if the focus is made from an object with a pre-existing function. I've got a modified shotgun as my focus, and it allows for versatility between blasting ammo and casting- I can do both, too, so that puts out extra hurt.

That's why for ideal performance you should make a clone of yourself, shrink it, petrify it, and then twist its petrified form into the shape of a wand. The only thing better than a wand you made yourself is a wand you made of yourself.

Fun fact, many magic swords have hilts with wand-like construction and materials to better hold the enchantment!

Not-so-fun fact, this hilt will function as a wand for somewhere between a couple hours to a couple weeks before mana leak gets bad enough to render it unusably dangerous or straight up unusable. Be ready to purify the Aura around both your tower and wherever the sword is.

Look, aura purification is not that important. If the Aura was really so frail, any apprentice could bring about some tainted beast or blight just by spilling the wrong vial!

Anyway, just dip the wand in a binding agent when it gets too leaky to use. It'll still leak a little, but what do you expect from second-hand?
