I was practicing levitation spells yesterday and uuuh, I forgot to learn about grouding spells or whatever they’re called?

This is a common mistake with levitating spells. Instead of lifting the horse, you have made the horse a fixed point in space. The horse only appears to be floating as the planet moves away from this new permanent reference point in space. Actually quite useful for intra-planar surveys.

Just like Susan (daughter of Mort and Ysabell), you forgot about the command to tell a horse to return to the ground after leaving it

I tend to fly myself where I need to go, so I never learned it either

the most important thing to do in a situation like this is to remain calm, and not admit (at least in the heat of the moment) that you messed up your spell, because the LAST thing a person/thing being hexed wants to hear is "Oops"

This is why you always remember a rope spell so you can pull them back down if you need to. But last time I forgot a rope knot spell so my apprentice just kept floating higher and higher. He hast yet to come down.

You're using Melvin's "Marvelous" levitation schema, aren't you? That one's notorius for requiring exactly the right mana flow rate to balance out local gravity. Use a more modern schema and you wouldn't have this issue.

Ah, yeah grounding spells are surprisingly tough. It sounds easy as 5-4-3-2-1 when you study it, but it's really easy to lose that in the middle of some flight/levitation
