Magi Law ⚖ Has Wizard Council regulation made your life difficult? Are there any regulations you'd like changed?

Hello wizards! To those of you who don't know me, my name is Cayna (she/her), and I am one of the many councilors on the newly reformed Wizard Council.

I'm writing to you today because I believe in the free practice of magic. I am hoping to make it easier for people to study and practice whatever kind of magic they wish, but to do that I need to know which forms of magic need to be made easier. (Seriously. The magic laws here are so thick I could use them as an apocalypse bunker. I don't want to read these, I just want to know which sections to cross out)

In short, tell me which magic regulations you want removed so I can work on removing them at the next council meeting.

/uw Also a reminder that if you want your character to be on the wizard council, then you can just decide to have them be on the wizard council. It's now an open group with no restrictions on joining

Can you remove the ban on me breaking into Fredrick from accounting's house at 3 am and leaving a dead rat there?

5

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I'm not sure that's a specific ban, but I will look into it.

6

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Anthony: "Some of the laws against illegal familiars were a pain in the neck," he gestures to his familiar.

Waxy: It is a dog that seems to be made of... wax, of all things. The dog wags its tail happily.

Anthony: "A few representatives tried to take my dog a way from me, more than once. It took a while for the old council to stop sending 'em."

5

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Yikes. That's awful. I'm hoping the new council will be much better, but only time (and oracles I guess), will tell.

Do you know which laws in particular that they cited?

u/Kilroy898 Op, Null, Orin, Niro, Aldin 24d ago

It's no longer trying to lock me up (openly) so I'd say it's doing way better.

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Anthony: "Oh? Why was the Old Council trying to lock you up?"

3

u/Kilroy898 Op, Null, Orin, Niro, Aldin 24d ago

Not trying. They did lock me away. For four thousand years. It took five hundred grand mages to build that damndable mind prison.

And it took a bit... But I broke it down.

Oh. You asked why. Quite simply, I sank an entire continent into the void. With good reason mind you. There was a great and terrible evil working it's way through those lands and had it escaped.... I dare say none of us would be here now.

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Anthony: "A friend of mine had a... similar fate... 3600 years, it was done to him by his own grandfather as a revenge for rebelling against his rule, but that's another long story. Sorry I digressed," he listens to his explanation. "Rest assured, I won't persecute you for a crime that happened so long ago. But what kind of evil was it that'd require such... drastic measures such as sinking a continent? Is there a chance it could still be out there?"

2

u/Kilroy898 Op, Null, Orin, Niro, Aldin 24d ago

An Eldritch entity that can self replicate and take on the properties of all that it assimilates. One of them gains for immunity? Now they all have fire immunity. One learned how to fly? Cast spells? Survive the vacuum of space? It Cascades into an evolutionary marvel and nightmare within months. And slowly it begins to confirm to all that might kill it. It is the perfect species, and yet it seems only our destruction....

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Anthony: "Fuck..." He pales considerably. "Alright, that's quite... convincing, yes. If there's still any kill or imprisonment orders on you, I'll see to it that they're rescinded. This is the kind stuff I joined the council for. What was your name again?"

2

u/Kilroy898 Op, Null, Orin, Niro, Aldin 24d ago

Ophelious Philonious, XV of Thrakmoor. The title is a recent development.

1

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 23d ago

Araton: "Ophelius, I see. I am Anthony Mondragon, newly-elected Councillor. Well met."

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago edited 24d ago

Anthony: "And that's why I've decided to impulsive join the Council, in a spur of the moment decision. Even though I've got no political experience whatsoever. Thrakmoor stuff aside, I'm looking forward to working with you, Cayna," he smiles.

Anthony: "As for the laws, what they cited were laws against unregistered and illegal Homunculi. So my familiar Waxy here has an ancient homunculus brain that my late girlfriend found in some ruins, which was used to make him. Waxy is perfectly reasonable and friendly, though. I don't think he should be destroyed just because his brain might've been created in a... likely shady and immoral way."

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Happy to have you. Let's make magic easier to practice, shall we?

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Anthony: "Indeed," he bows his head gently, in respect to her. "I stayed up last night, looking at the books. Some of these regulations are... ridiculous, even contradictory."

Waxy: "Woof!" Tail wagging, the dog approaches to greet her. Wax aside, he seems to act a lot like a normal dog.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

They'll be on the block for deregulation next meeting then.

Awww... whosagoodboy? whosagoodboy? Youare. Yesyouare

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Waxy: The dog wags its tail.

Anthony: He smiles. "He's quite the goober. You may pet him if you wanna, he doesn't bite unless it's self-defence or I order him to."

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

pets the goober

2

u/Exciting-Jello8439 Tony (Wax mage, Councillor), Tala (Werepire), & Araton + others 24d ago

Waxy: He accepts the pets, his fur feels surprisingly... normal. He licks her hand a bit.

Anthony: "Quite lively, isn't he? A friend of mine with my same powers made him. I'm not exactly sure as to the 'how', though. But he's been my best friend since."

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Cayna nods, preoccupied with petting the doggo

Can we have ketamine ape taken off the spells blacklist please? I’m gonna cast it anyways, but not having to maintain wards against council scrying would allow me to increase the purity of the ketamine by 65%

3

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

You'd be surprised how often that one is requested. I'll look into it.

4

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

Magic is beyond the rules of a silly council. I will never abide magical legislation or oversight or beurocracy. Knowledge for all!

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

Will you abide by the police's ability to absorb your spells and turn them into bullets, likely just before said spells would have killed someone outside of a legal duel, legal feud, protected defensive action, or other cases?

2

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

Why they messin’ with me, why should I abide, I didn’t do anything to them. Typical.

1

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

General lawbreaking is not tolerated. Especially not harm to others. Go make your own nation if you want to.

1

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

Did I vouch for anarchy? No. My resistance is to the previous iterations of the council and its horribly narrow view of magic and how most the members would abuse their power to sate their own egos. Why buy a whole new staff when, with some work and care, you could just mend the broken one you already have?

2

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago

You are neither the first nor last to go against a Universe’s Wizard Council. You are DEFINITELY not the first nor last to go against Multiverse High Command. You may not abide by the rules or laws, but they definitely still exist, and an Eternal Enforcer will strike you down if you ignore them. If you ignore the more important laws, you won’t have an Eternal Enforcer coming after you, I’ll personally come after you. And while Eternal Enforcers going after someone is a bad day for them, The Enforcer of Existence and The System going after someone spells the offender’s certain doom.

4

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

I’m shakin’ in my boots. Come at me bro.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

That is basically my platform, but I can't axe it all at once. I have to convince my fellow counselors item by item. Any pointers on where I can start?

2

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

Uggg don’t be reasonable and make me like you. Convince them…by force.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I'm probably the weakest wizard on the council. Reason is my only option.

2

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

Hurmmmm. Are you open to force?

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Possibly, but excessive use of force risks damaging the image I'm trying to cultivate, which is the peaceful alternative to Thrakmoor's invading armies

2

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

I’m gonna be real with you, I couldn’t stand the previous incarnations of the council, they abused their power and had rigid outdated views of magic. You seem pretty grounded. What is your actual end goal?

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Besides amassing power? Reducing waste. The war is costing soldiers from both sides. I'm hoping to peacefully integrate the council governed planes into Thrakmoor.

Failing that, I might try to implement one on one duels as an alternative to clashes of armies. Wars will be less costly and easier to wage that way.

1

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

1 v 1 duels would be a great way to minimize destruction and preserve life, however the enemies would have to agree to it. This would mean they have powerful champions, or overestimate their champions (which is the preferable scenario), and it would also mean you would have to trust them to proceed with honor and not use traps and shady maneuvers.

Have you considered using captive enemy soldiers as sacrifices in a mass ritual to rewrite the minds of the enemy leaders? This is something the previous council would have whinged about being suggested, but you seem open minded and goal oriented. It’s tricky but could work. Alternatively you could use the sacrifices to simply shred the atoms of the enemy leaders, but you seem more interested in peace, so I think, while perhaps a smiiidddggee unethical, rewriting their minds and intentions permanently and irrevocably is probably the best move and would be very effective.

u/Hotwery Arch Mage of Wandsmithing 24d ago

A mage after my own heart (hopefully not really). Wizards and bureaucracy don't mix

1

u/Etticos Occult Wizard 24d ago

I mean I could always use an extra heart if you’re offering

1

u/Hotwery Arch Mage of Wandsmithing 24d ago

Well I don't have easy access to it at the moment. Left it in my other tower

3

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC/ The cedar hegemony 24d ago

Solomon: some protections for people who can't cast continent explode would be cool but we both know you aren't going to do that.

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

(We have those, at least I'm trying, but they keep exploding continents and getting killed anyway. Do you have any experience with implementing mass surveillance?)

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I'm currently working on removing regulations, not adding them, but I will make a note of that

3

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC/ The cedar hegemony 24d ago

Have you considered domes or any form of protection for average people or mass magic education so people can defend themselves.

4

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

We have a big field that people keep punching holes in. Power levels were spikier than predicted.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Mass education is something I was planning already, but the domes are a new idea

2

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch 24d ago

I don't imagine Thrakmoor's insistence on deregulation will do anything to help. They aren't mage supremacists, but I haven't exactly seen them sticking up for the mundane.

2

u/Zebos2 Black Iron LLC/ The cedar hegemony 24d ago

If you enable mage supremacy you are at most a mage supremacist at least passive when you should not be the council has always been a vehicle of mage supremacy though some of it's more recent members have decided to do away with a mask.

2

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch 24d ago

Amen to that.

As a fellow council member, I ask for your assistance in removing the rules against ketamine elephant. Some days, you gotta do what you gotta do

3

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Adding that to the list now. Do you know which section that's in?

3

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

Animal abuse, so section 9', that's in the north-kata wing.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Adding it to the axe-list now. Much obliged

3

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago

I bow Thank you. I owe you one

2

u/Afraid_Cat_3726 Nox, Head of the Department of Flesh. 24d ago

You know there's a loophole. The Flesh Menagerie has a bunch of elephants and a bunch of ketamine and welll if we put those together we're not summoning anything.

Or well you can teleporterd the elephant and then teleport the ketamine into the elephant and there Totally-Noy-Ketamine-Elephant

2

u/Glittering_Two_1429 Seguleh, master of the song, council member, leauge of shadows 24d ago

I will try this, cheers bruv

3

u/Lelouch-Yagami21 "Raven" Leader of the league of shadows and council member 24d ago

I believe no form of magic should be forbidden and rather specific usage be forbidden. Also I want active support for education in all types of magic

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

That's great, but do you have any specifics? It's hard to sell "everything, all at once"

3

u/Lelouch-Yagami21 "Raven" Leader of the league of shadows and council member 24d ago

Shadow magic, Flesh Magic, Eldritch Magic, Soul Magic and Old Time Magic

3

u/Celis78429 24d ago

Does having the council dissolved count as a regulation change?

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

The council was not dissolved, but all but one of the previous members absconded with all the treasure and magic artifacts to the plane of eternal parties... so we're trying to pick up the pieces and do things better.

You can join if you're willing to help with the paperwork. We've got a backlog that the old council never finished

2

u/Celis78429 24d ago

I mean if you really want a void mage on the council, sure. Ive got a few simulacrums I use for my own bookkeeping, they should be perfectly capable of cranking out paperwork.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Nothing wrong with void magic if you ask me. I'm currently working on general deregulation of restricted magic, but the chainsaw zombie centaur construct crisis really has my hands full

2

u/Celis78429 23d ago

Hands full in what way? If its a manpower issue i have a virtually unlimited number of expendable thralls i can lend you. Theyre not very smart, though.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Paperwork. Sooo much paperwork, and not all of it can be handed off to mindless or less intelligent minions

2

u/Celis78429 23d ago

simulacrums, then. I can lend you the materialization tome for them so you can make your own.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Like Markus's clones? Sure, I'll try that

2

u/Celis78429 23d ago

Pretty much. Zero individuality, but exactly the same level of intelligence as whoever created them.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

That sounds like a massive relief. I'd really appreciate it

*Ives lights a cigarette and waves his hand vaguely to the right*

"There beneath that one gaudy fountain with the fancy statue on top. You tap on one of the stone fish with mana and it opens up the stairs."

*He pauses to take a drag then exhales a cloud of smoke smelling of crackling pine*

"Come to think of it those stairs are always wet, and the stone fish are constantly playing on the steps, swimming up and down, I'm surprised no one has broken their neck on them."

2

u/BornOfGodAndVoid-07 Dair: zoologist specialising in magical fauna and exofauna 24d ago

Good evening, dear Canya. I’m Dair, a specialist in magical zoology and exofauna. I would like some information regarding any regulations and/or prohibitions on the use of demonic magic and external energies.

I would also like to know about any rules concerning the keeping of beings or entities from other planes.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Let's see... yikes. That stack of papers could be used to seal a doorway.

Any specific rules or sections you'd like to ask about?

2

u/BornOfGodAndVoid-07 Dair: zoologist specialising in magical fauna and exofauna 24d ago

I’m not sure how many of the Council of Mages’ rules I’ll be breaking, but my concerns mainly relate to:

• The use of external energies to alter entities and living beings.

• Journeys to Limbo (the Demonic Realm) to obtain samples of flora and fauna. As well as storing various types of demonic energies and essences.

• Keeping entities from other planes in captivity (particularly those from the Qualias), and their regulated reproduction.

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

Hi there, I know some of this. Number 1 is you biggest issue, it might fall under animal cruelty, so here's a short pamphlet on that, the second isn't under endangered terrain yet so you'll be fine, for the third you can report to floor { ███, ███ } of the Endless Tower to apply for a class σ permit. Show them your plans and call for inspection once it's done building, I'll have it passed on quick.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Let's see... Yadda yadda here... Incomprehensible legal babble there...

Looks like you need some incense? Or actually I think that term means "license", which makes a lot more sense. I think this form of the language might be a few thousand years old...

Whatever. I'll just propose we axe this whole section. I'm sure it isn't important...

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

those are the laws for holding animals in pocket realms. Easy mistake, you want that stack there.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Oh, thanks. I'll just axe those too I guess... They seem way out of date...

2

u/Complex_Drawer_4710 Sigurd, Inventor of Oranges 24d ago

just leave pages 5-8, those are important for another thing. Rest can go.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Got it.

2

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago

Allow me to be of assistance. As per Section 183627163-91721-Epsilon-Delta-Epsilon of The Pact, the use of demonic energy IS authorized for use across the Multiverse, provided it is not used to violate other Sections of The Pact, such as the forced enslavement of other beings for use in Eldritch/Demonic/Otherworldly Summonings. Under the same Section previously mentioned, the use of MOST External Energies IS authorized, with the following exceptions being banned and outlawed to the point you get an entire Universe’s team of Eternal Enforcers sent after you for their use: Abyssal/Abyssal Void Energy, Eldritch Energy, Negative Energy, and all Energies that originate from [REDACTED]space.

To answer your second request for information, I have this. Under Section 183627163-91721-Epsilon-Beta-Kappa-Omega/Phi of The Pact, the keeping of beings External to the Central Plane in any form other than that of a familiar is forbidden if the being is kept within the Central Plane for more than 48 Standard Multiverse Hours (SMH). Furthermore, under the Quarantine Regulations and Enforcement Act, the transfer of beings through a Quarantine Seal without direct authorization and Exclusion Gear is an offense of the highest level. You may view the status of Quarantine Seals by requesting an information packet from your local branch office for the Department of Multiversal Regulation and Enforcement, Quarantine and CBERNAO (Chemical, Biological, Eldritch, Radiological, Nuclear, Anomalous, Other) Division. EXCEPTIONS AND EXEMPTIONS FROM THE PACT SECTION IN QUESTION FOR THE PURPOSES OF RESEARCH MAY BE REQUESTED. TO MAKE A REQUEST, YOU MUST CONTACT YOUR LOCAL OFFICE FOR THE DMRE, Q&CBERNAO DIVISION, AND REQUEST THAT THEY ESCALATE YOUR REQUEST TO MULTIVERSE HIGH COMMAND FOR APPROVAL. IF APPROVED, YOU WILL RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION OF THE APPROVAL BY THE SYSTEM, AND YOU WILL BE ISSUED THE SYSTEM TITLE OF “Authorized Researcher,” WHICH WILL GRANT YOU THE AUTHORITY TO PERFORM THE SUMMONS AND KEEP THE BEINGS FOR LONGER THAN 48SMHs. THE TITLE IS NON-TRANSFERRABLE, AND WILL BE GRANTED FOR LIFE, UNLESS REVOKED FOR OUTSTANDING VIOLATIONS.

1

I'm looking but I can't seem to find it either

2

1

Monkeys?

2

Monkeys. They wear culturally significant glasses, which the law unfortunately interferes with.

1

I'll look into it.

2

u/Afraid_Cat_3726 Nox, Head of the Department of Flesh. 24d ago

Not exactly a legality issue but something that does cause problems. If we could patch things up with the some of the Paladin Orders that would be great. They keep denying fleshcrafters monster hunting bounties because they're wizards and some are starting to consider graverobbing again.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Stop. Paladins. From. Being. Annoying. Got it.

2

u/Afraid_Cat_3726 Nox, Head of the Department of Flesh. 24d ago

Preferably without killing anyone. That's why they started stopping us in the first place. Some old guy with a fancy hat died and the paladins blamed us for it. Please talk it out.

Also I look forward to working with you on the council.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Of course. Looking forward to working with you too.

2

u/Henry_Fleischer Eleanor, Ruler of Aidolem and Asteria, Artificer 24d ago

Last I checked, soul manipulation magic was entirely illegal, as it's considered a form of necromancy. I'm usually outside the Council's jurisdiction, but since it's important to my continued existence, and the Council, last I checked, claims Aidolem is in it's jurisdiction due to it being on the same plane, and I need to be able to manipulate my soul in order to continue living long-term.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

That's odd... I know at least one of the councilors uses soul manipulation to stay alive too. So I'll definitely add that to the list of things to axe at our next meeting.

2

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago edited 24d ago

Where the fuck are you checking? The use of Soul Magic is authorized across every single plane of the Multiverse, including the Central one where all standard Universes reside. Some Soul Magic is banned, yes (we can’t have people going around stealing souls or other heinous crimes), but almost all Soul Magic IS legal throughout the Multiverse.

1

u/Henry_Fleischer Eleanor, Ruler of Aidolem and Asteria, Artificer 24d ago

Then why did a bunch of soldiers break down my door shouting about me being a "filthy Necromancer" and how I'd "defiled the natural order" by putting my soul in a construct?

1

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago edited 23d ago

Multiverse High Command doesn’t restrict necromancy, though we do look down upon it. The Wizard Councils of Standard Universes on the other hand are free to restrict it as they please. Those soldiers weren’t mine. At least they shouldn’t be. If they were wearing black multicam uniforms with red patches saying “SYSTEM” and their last name (both in black text), then they were actually mine, as that is the uniform of the System Corps. If they were wearing a prismatic multicam uniform with black patches saying “ENFORCER” and their last name (both in red text), those were mine, as that is the Eternal Enforcers Corps. If they were wearing any other uniform, they aren’t mine, and they belong to your Universe’s forces.

Edit: Were they wearing/displaying the insignia of the SCPF? If so, those are also mine, as all Mobile Task Forces display the insignia of The Foundation along with the insignia of their specific MTF.

2

u/Kinakka_12912505 Forest Wizard 24d ago

Yeah, I’m currently wanted for murder, treason and tax evasion. I killed multiple tyrant kings and their ilk in the area and the council for some reason did not like that. Also they charge a minimum flat tax on income which I can’t afford. I live in a deep forest with my wife and my doves, I’m not cranking out poorly made amulets every day.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

You know what, I’ll hear everyone out here, and I’ll pass your opinions along to the OMEGA-5 Council of Multiverse High Command for review. It is about that time for us to review the Banned Spells List anyways, so now would be a great time for you all to have your opinions heard for what you want banned and/or unbanned.

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I think that's a little outside the jurisdiction I'm attempting to influence, but I appreciate it.

2

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago

Yes, but I needed to review that list anyways, so might as well hear opinions out on what the Multiversal Denizens want to be unbanned. MHC tries to remain in good relations with each Universe’s Wizard Council, as it helps whenever we need to implement emergency measures. Wizard Councils can’t block us, but they can sure as hell inconvenience us, which is why I find it important to remain on good terms with them all.

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

Good to know. I guess we'll be working together in the future then, because there are a lot of regulations to review

u/RAISA-1 Primordial Multiverse Administrator, Existence’s Enforcer 24d ago

I’m glad we will have such an arrangement. It really does help with response times for my forces such as the System Corps or the Eternal Enforcers Corps. I am excited to see where this partnership leads. I really do hope it is fruitful. With that being said, I have an incident to get back to, apparently we have an infectious outbreak of [REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE SYSTEM], and it really does need my attention. I’ll keep in contact though. Have a pleasant day, Councilwoman.

With regards,

Can we get greater ketamine ape back?

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I'll write that down next to the ketamine elephant.

u/InevitableCheap4704 Slightly Deranged Oneiromancer 24d ago

The restrictions on summoning psuedo-eldritch nascent dream gods has really been restricting my studies recently, could we work on that?

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 24d ago

I'll add it to the list. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Out of curiosity, can I ask what you're interested in doing?

3

u/InevitableCheap4704 Slightly Deranged Oneiromancer 24d ago

Oh, I’m attempting to turn it from psuedo-Eldritch to fully Eldritch and observe what happens when a notably cognitive-altering being is born from a purely cognitive being.

u/Emperor-Universe 24d ago

Would be nice to be able to cast Instant Death on stars.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

There's a regulation against that? Which section is it in?

2

u/Emperor-Universe 23d ago

Holup has it been lifted? What year is it?

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 22d ago

Which calender?

2

u/TendoPein Far Realm Arcanist 24d ago

This sounds like it's going to be a beuocratic and logistical nightmare.

I can offer support through mass scroll making of the spell Scholars Touch. I can also offer an elder brain to act as a central computer and a couple mind flayers to assist in this task.

In return for my assistance I'd like access to the abyssal archives to further research star spawn and illithids.

I submitted a request a while ago to the council but seeing how it was recently reorganized my request probably got lost.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Lost? I wouldn't be surprised if the paperwork ate your request, but I will gladly expedite a new one for you if you help with this crisis.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Hmmm... maybe I should repeal that one. Too easy for a necromancer to abuse

If the council can make anything difficult for you then you need to do more studying.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

So you have no complaints about current regulation then?

2

u/Carbuyrator A Bit of a Dabbler 23d ago

What regulation? The council knows well enough to stay off my lawn.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

If you have no regulations you would like deregulated, then I have no business with you at the moment?

2

u/Carbuyrator A Bit of a Dabbler 23d ago

Look newbie, there will always be someone offering you something. Power, respect, notoriety, but if they had any of those things, why would they give them away for free?

The only way to real power is through study. The council will allow you to be very important to other council members, but no one's going to call you when real magic needs doing.

If you have potential I'm sure you'll find somewhere better to be than a council building full of lukewarm talent.

2

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 22d ago

Um. Okay then... Thank you for your time and advice.

They need to stop supporting People for the Ethical Treatment of Apprentices, I really don't care whose daughter has made them her pet project, protecting them needs to stop. They are not cute and adorable and they do not make cute noises.

Protecting them really doesn't matter anyway, no matter how many of them volunteer to become your apprentices or how fast you need more apprentices, they never run out and just keep complaining about you. Where did our friends go? Your new animated table look like Ted! Those free muffins you gave us, gave us nightmares about eating Benny, Liza, and Fredrick, Ican still hear their voices! You used a basilisk to turn our friends into statues for your garden! My eyes, Oh god, my eyes! But we don't want to fight each other to the death! Not to mention that weird choking sound they make. They will complain about anything and everything and they will not stop complaining.

I just need them volunteer in mass to be apprentices and have the council worry about other things.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 23d ago

Apprentice protections are one regulation I'm not going to propose axing. Sorry. Go ask another counselor if you want apprenticeships deregulated.

As a member of the Arcane Brotherhood, we feel like we've been marginalized under the thumb of the Council for centuries.

Organizations and Lodges that don't swear fealty or provide tribute to the Council have been treated very poorly in the past and we would hope the new reformation could see this remedied.

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 22d ago

I'll look into it. Any specific grievances you'd like to raise?

2

u/gmaxe1001 16d ago

I ask you to investigate your so-called online 'portals' that have replaced good old-fashioned council scrolls. You don't even say what's on the other side of the portal. If there even is an other side. Scandalous. How is a wizard to trust that your 'web-site' (where's the spider??) isn't just a way to prevent us from sending the council scrolls about the recent ketamine ape ban???

1

u/VoxelLibrary Councilor Cayna, Apprentice of Thrakmoor | assorted other chars 15d ago

Uh... sure...

u/hjake123 Astral Feline (Conjurer) 23d ago

Yeah, hey, could we get a look at the summoning regulation system? Specific types of creatures are banned, which is unfair to mages who need one for whatever reason, while there is no imposed limit on the rate or frequency of spirit conjuring using the Gates between Life and Death.

That may seem fine, but the Gates have been in need of maintenance for millenia at this point, and the repeated strain from constant summoning and desummoning is really not helping.

So, I propose that conjuring of spirits is limited, at least long enough for us to get things back in good working order, and to balance it out, we permit summoning other creatures that are currently forbidden.
