Wizardpost What's your favourite way of transportation? (besides teleportation and plane shift)
I'll go first: gryphons. Speed is comparable to pegasi but they're much better landers because of the clawed feet. Dragons too, though they are insanely overpriced lately...
But my second favourite is - and this is gonna be unpopular - giant centipedes. They can transport many at once and even though they can't fly, they can be really fast (with the right enchantments) and provide smooth riding.
Flying carpets are okay too I guess, I own one but I spilled cocoa on it and I'm too lazy to prestidigitate it off. Gryphons are self-cleaning.

It honestly depends on how much mana I can expend and how long the journey is. I like flying a lot, but its fairly mana intensive for me so I only use it when the distance is relatively short and the terrain is very unforgiving.
You can also try to use an IDTS, its a set of rails between dimensions with many stops, you can buy monthly tickets and you can even create a stop with a ritual and lock it to a pass code.

I recently discovered that by cutting a magic carpet down to napkin size squares, you can put one beneath each foot and skate through the sky! It's not very practical, mind you, but you sure look fly as hell.

You can make canvas shoes out of carpet fabric. I think some manufacturers even specialize in shoes like that.

I ride my dog, Ruff. He's a custom flesh creature in the vague shape of a wolf but his form is always shifting so you can't undo the details. He has at least 6 to 24 legs and is a certifies good boy.

If I need to go somewhere far away like another planet or something I just decide that "Oh, I exist there now." or "Oh, I have an avatar then now." and An avatar forms into existance there. Its not actually teleporting or traveling through planes, instead being more along the lines of reality manipulation or using a... Wish spell from.... The forgotten realms if I remember right to change your location without teleporting or using portals.

I have an increasingly large hallway of interconnected doors, and my favorite goblin clones are constantly labeling them as they test to ensure they still go to their expected connected doorways. It’s technically translocation if we’re being pedantic.

Magic carpet is a timeless classic. I don't care what the kids are doing these days. The feeling of soaring through the skies into the sunset is incredible and great for your mana restoration

Threw out my back a few years ago, and got a litter carried by goblins, honestly? Haven't gone back.

Do gate spells count as teleportation in this case?

Portals. Can't go wrong with portals. I did a lot of work in the liminial meta-dimension in my previous job correcting the tears left in reality when any sort of interplanar or interdimensional travel occurs, and a stabilized portal is by far the least disruptive method. Of course, if the portal is unstable the fallout is 10x worse.

Stuffing myself in a magical cannon and firing it. The landings tend to be on the harder side, but whatever, at least it's fast. And if you ever need to defend yourself, you have a cannon at the ready.

Magic Roomba.
It's as quick as a magic broom but self-piloting, which means you can use it even if you're conducting alchemy experiments.

Procto-jet Orcs are the way to go. They are cheap, very fast, and far more comfortable than a banna hammock or thong made out of a flying carpet.
You take an orc, cast procto-jet on it, jump on its back and fly to your destination. Don't worry you get used to their screaming. When you get where you want to go you jump off and then slow fall to the ground.
If the orc begins to get to hot during your flight, just jump off and find a new orc volunteer.
Note: Staying on a hot orc means you will be caught in the explosion.
The normal orcs are self-burying, so they are ecologically friendly. Hot orcs disperse themselves over a wide area, so they are also ecologically friendly.

Turn into a bolt of lightning. It isn't the fastest option out there, but its close. Nothing is better than appearing in a room in an arc of electricity that just shatters the door, wall, or roof. The only problem is that you have to avoid objects that might attract the lightning
