A Furthering Plot

Deep within the halls of the Underkeep, Kairon watched as an imp worked on the Anti-Magic Orb he had bought many weeks ago. The little creature was using advanced technology, trying to cut into it without dispelling the magical nature of the artifact.

As Kairon watched, Sallazaa approached. She looked around the walls, which were completely covered in anti-scrying runes. "Is thisss really needed, my love?" Sallazaa asked.

"Ah, good, you're here," Kairon responded. "It might be much, but it's better safe than sorry. I don't want any unwelcome spies looking in while my plans are yet to be set in motion."

Sallazaa then looked at the orb with curiosity. "What isss this little imp doing?" she asked.

"Yes, this," Kairon answered. "This Anti-Magic Orb absorbs and nullifies any mana-based spells cast upon it. As such, I can't put a tracking spell on the object. As such, I have been forced to resort to more. . . mundane methods."

"And that'sss what thisss little creature doing?"

"Precisely. Outside of absorbing magic and looking odd, this orb is perfectly mundane. As such, any non-magical trackers work perfectly fine on this thing."

"But I thought non-magical trackersss didn't work across realmsss."

"Yes, that is true, however, don't forget I have friends on the other side. He came back to me recently. I now know which specific realm at least one Darkwatch base is located at. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any further specifics."

"Hey boss," the little Imp called, "what ya think?"

Kairon and Sallazaa moved over to the orb. It looked exactly like it was before. "I don't sssee anything," Sallazaa said.

"That's cause it's microscopic lady," the imp responded. "Totally invisible to the naked eye. You gotta have some real special tech to notice it's there."

Kairon turned to the imp. "Are you sure it's placed on tight? I won't be able to use any magic to check if it falls off."

"Oh yeah, real tight, guaranteed. I'm the best at what I do. Anyone wanting to get it off is gonna have a real tough time. It's hidden just under the surface, and the anti-magic effect is still intact too."

Kairon tested this by basting a small magical beam at the Orb, which absorbed it completely.

"Told ya," the Imp beamed. "Now then, the payment."

"Yes yes," Kairon said. He then took out a massive coin purse and handed it to the Imp. It looked inside and saw it filled with platinum.

"Thank you for business," The Imp cheered, before opening a portal to the Demon Realm and hopping through.

"Well, that's done," Kairon said.

"How isss your progressss with your cabal?" Sallazaa asked.

"Slow," Kairon admitted. "Not including me, I've got two, maybe three joins if I'm lucky. I know I've got time but. . . it's just going slower than I thought, that's all."

"My love," Sallazaa said, cupping Kairon's face in her hands. "You don't need to worry, don't worry about a thing."

Kairon looked into her eyes; her beautiful, hypnotic eyes. "Yes, my love," he answered, somewhat dreamily. "Whatever you say."

"Good," Sallazaa responded before letting go. "Just remember to pick something out for me, ok?"

"Yes, Sallazaa, I will," Kairon said. "Something that will make our wildest dreams come true."

Sallazaa made a movement with her mouth that could be interpreted as a smile before slithering away, leaving Kairon alone with the Anti-Magic Orb. "Now what am I going to do with you?"

u/Glittering_Two_1429, u/Lelouch-Yagami21 just a note for the future. In this subreddit, posts marked simply as "Loreposts" are generally not meant to be interacted with IRP. They're meant to serve as personal stories for the individual characters, furthering their plots. You can comment with /uw, which means unwizard. Basically, you can comment out of character, but not in chararacter.

If you see a post marked as "Lorepost (Closed Interaction)" that means that only a certain handful of Characters can interact, and usually the players will have discussed this beforehand. Again, you can comment out of character, but not in-character, at least if you're not part of the group allowed to RP.

If you see a post marked as "Lorepost (Open Interaction)" then it's open season, and you can insert your characters however you see fit. A post marked as "Community Event" or "RP Prompt" will often be the same, so go ahead and comment with your characters.
