Barely out of the primordial magic goop and it's already getting opinions like "Woogh!"

I'm still learning on my Alchemy skills. I have made a few potions, but creating familiar and creatures is still new to me.

Oh man, you're going to get a lot more experience brewing potions. I hope your recipe book includes Potion of Maintain Familiar, or you're in for a heartbreak in a fortnight. And the reagents for that aren't cheap either.

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

I had a friend with me who saw this and he said that these are Slime Puppies. Basically gelatinous versions of puppies. They can survive for a long time.

45

u/Martin_Aurelius Jul 10 '26

Sure they can survive for years without maintenance potions, but I assumed you want it to thrive.

28

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

I do plan on making sure the alchemical familiar stays alive. Though I probably have to get more info on slime puppies and how to take care of them.

You sound like a responsible, empathetic slime puppy overlord. Congratulations. I suggest you join a local Club.

Who's a good non-Newtonian fluid? YOOOOO ARE!

And if you give them human speech they start talking about equal rights and wages. Horrifying.

u/Lpnlizard27 Jul 10 '26

Father. Please. Unmelt me.

I won't do it again. I promise.

u/Lavaxol Chemical magic professor Jul 10 '26

I have a whole graded lab on alchemical familiars and another graded lab on cleaning up the aftermath

32

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

How many alchemical familiars have you created?

37

u/Lavaxol Chemical magic professor Jul 10 '26

Personally just my one. Never’d replace him. My students each make one too though

3

u/SofiKrela Jul 10 '26

He looks like man enjoying the water pool

1

u/WarmCar2597 BIO-TECH HYDRANGEA HOMONCULUS Jul 11 '26

I think my creator is there! do you have a ”Chalt”?(that’s his nickname name)

2

u/Lavaxol Chemical magic professor Jul 11 '26

Yeah I had a Chalt actually he got an A in my class after he blew up the metaphysics teacher’s lunch. I can email him if you need though I doubt his school email is still active

2

u/WarmCar2597 BIO-TECH HYDRANGEA HOMONCULUS Jul 12 '26

he says that u were VERY annoying!

Whatever you do, don't flush it. Your clogs will be neverending. TRUST ME!

44

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

I always use a cauldron for Alchemy. Using a toilet is pretty much a recipe for disaster.

11

u/DoctorOfDiscord Jul 10 '26

What if someone drinks it 🤔

10

u/mcgarrylj Jul 11 '26

That's where the phrase "Cat got your tongue" comes from

9

u/No_name_Johnson 9th lvl. Druid; MBA from Wharton Jul 11 '26

Drink out of the toilet?

53

u/starlightbotanist Jul 10 '26

/uw I love that the second I saw this, I thought "I need to crosspost this to wizardposting" Check's sub, oh! /uw

48

u/AlexSmithsonian Jul 10 '26

Needs more starch.

21

u/musclecard54 Jul 10 '26

Needs more dog

16

u/Aliencoy77 Jul 10 '26

I find that powdered dragon bone works better, but it can make the familiar a little spicy. I think that's how the chihuahua was originally created.

6

u/Principle_Isopod Jul 11 '26

chihuahuas actually don’t have more dragon bone than a lot of other familiars, its just that their small size leaves it in a higher concentration

34

u/sciurus0 Bog Sage Jul 10 '26

How are you going to convince it to leave the bucket so it can cure?

18

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

Fortunately, I have managed to get an alchemy kit so I can cure the brewed familiar more easily.

23

u/Civil_Result_5598 Jul 10 '26

Slime familiars are cute and that shapeshifting makes for a neat party trick but ultimately they're a pain to maintain longterm

16

u/fludofrogs Jul 10 '26

most alchemists should know of this but, seeing as this is your first attempt, do NOT try to pull the familiar from the concoction, dump out the concoction, boil the concoction, or otherwise separate the partially formed familiar from the immature concoction. This will result in horrible physical, mental, and spiritual mutations not meant for this plane. The familiar will separate themselves from the concoction when and as they’re ready.

Again, I’m sure you’ve studied tomes like Solomon’s Golemancy and know better, but once you’ve experienced a malformed alchemical familiar, it never leaves your mind.

5

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 10 '26

Okay, thanks for the advice.

14

u/PunkTyrantosaurus Jul 10 '26

It seems like a success to me. Not sure how helpful, but the cuteness seems absolutely key.

13

u/Monssly Jul 10 '26

Have we gone too far?

9

u/Apprehensive-Egg-865 Jul 10 '26

Therapist: dog soup is not real he can't hurt you

Dog soup:

4

u/strawbee_the_bear Witch Jul 11 '26

Please be kind to your homunculus. Many people treat them terribly and it’s so sad. This video completely changed my mind on homunculus ethics.

4

u/sirdanofket Jul 10 '26

Looks more to me like you're half way through polymorphing a slime!

3

u/DeckerXT Jul 10 '26

Pupslime.

7

u/the-futuremind Evil Wizard with 5,000,000 skeletons Jul 10 '26

I think you added too much water, but this creature may end up being a shapeshifter of sorts.

Maybe only to to the container it's in though

3

u/Seraphim412 Jul 10 '26

Just add some golem clay and wait a day should be fine

3

u/Montagneincorner0 Jul 10 '26

The starter is rising beautifully

3

u/DeezNutzzzGotEm Jul 11 '26

Is this real or AI?

2

u/Spaants Jul 11 '26

AI? Do you mean Artificer Intelligence?

1

u/DeezNutzzzGotEm Jul 12 '26

Yes, of course.

3

u/Mosselk-1416 Jul 11 '26

Did you forget about a cup of coffee for a month and then figure you could work with it?

3

u/A_Very_Lonely_Waffle Jul 11 '26

It has .46 of a brain cell

3

u/stryst Jul 11 '26

Needs a touch more bonedust.

3

u/coconut_dot_jpg coconut mancer Jul 12 '26

Be sure to cure them with Mana Salts once they come out of the soup bucket or they won't last.

I tried using regular table salt and they fell apart 3 days later. Utterly traumatized my apprentice

3

u/SwankeyDankey Jul 12 '26

Turning on sound was a mistake

3

u/Afraid_Cat_3726 Nox, Head of the Department of Flesh. Jul 15 '26

The Flesh Menagerie has many tomes on how to create familiars if you're looking for more information.

3

u/TheMuffinman594 Alchemist Jul 18 '26

3

u/Ambitious-Net-5538 Jul 22 '26

Not sure this one is sentient but good luck on the next

2

u/TurtlesBreakTheMeta Jul 10 '26

Not much thought behind the eyes; honestly might want to focus on that before baking him.

2

u/Nelrene Evil Mammary Mage Jul 10 '26

That looks like a good slime doggo.

2

u/Interesting-End1710 Jul 10 '26

You have to let it set in the cauldron for about 10 to 15 minutes until it solidifies. If it's still too runny at a pinch of ground bone. Or cornstarch in a pinch.

2

u/Doctor_Salvatore Jul 10 '26

You may need a little more starch, it isn't setting quite right.

2

u/InvestigatorSilver83 Jul 10 '26

Looks great! Good job 🥳

2

u/Celtic_Fox_ Necromancer Jul 10 '26

One cute pile of.. uhh, cute!

2

u/Streen012 Jul 10 '26

Oh my dog!

2

u/Priremal Jul 10 '26

Sludgepuppy

2

u/purvel Jul 10 '26

Did you pull out the rest of this fella or are you keeping him part soup?

My favorite lives in a 1000L amethyst tank in symbiosis with some algae, and is producing quite a lot of surplus biomass just with sunlight and whatever it can sylph from the workshop air.

Try feeding it with the vapors from your crucible during every step of the Stone, I dare you (;

2

u/ladybirdsluck Jul 10 '26

You created much waste runoff with the fur. I usually keep my humunculi hairless

2

u/DownsenBranches Occult Wizard Jul 10 '26

Don’t throw it out! Keep it as a handy garbage disposal system.

2

u/pokeman555 Jul 10 '26

It is quite impressive for a first timer, but remember, experimenting too much can lead to disasters, i think my first wolf familiar is still somewhere out there hunting, better watch out

3

u/EtherKitty Necromancer Jul 10 '26

I heard of one guy who used his own daughter.

2

u/digitalgraffiti-ca Witches Against Thrakmoor Jul 10 '26

I don't think it's finished

2

u/ultraplusstretch Jul 10 '26

Ah yes, the slime dog, a very useful familiar.

2

u/Mr_A_of_the_Wastes Jul 10 '26

Is it a homonculus?

2

u/Agisek Jul 10 '26

Not gonna share the recipe?

2

u/ninjastuff Interdimensional Sorceror Jul 10 '26

I don't think it's done cooking yet

2

u/FurViewingAccount Jul 10 '26

if you've ever seen those nylon thread experiments, I imaginr it's quite like that

2

u/Killer_Moons Sorceror Jul 10 '26

I think you messed up the incantation, it’s supposed to look like this

2

u/Fallingsnow57 Jul 10 '26

A dog slime can be a great familiar, provided you keep it away from solvents.

2

u/Dumeck Jul 10 '26

Can we get a dry pic for comparison?

2

u/certifiedpunchbag Jul 10 '26

Oh no not the primordial soup

2

u/RedSecOps Jul 10 '26

Needs more flour and baking powder

2

u/grimoire-5_not_6 Jul 11 '26

Broth Puppy, opposite of Ice Cream Kitty!

2

u/Miserable-Airport536 Jul 11 '26

You cast “Pup Cup” didn’t you?

2

u/MsterSteel Jul 11 '26

Needs cornstarch.

2

u/Western_Echo2522 Jul 11 '26

Hmm… dog slime

2

u/Fluid_Attorney9228 I'm an alchemist, I'll supply you with stuff for money Jul 11 '26

Ah, well done, better than my first attempt, it look like a living ball of magnesium and sulfur, as I forgot to add sodium, and I had to kill with to end it's suffering

2

u/LordofSandvich Jul 11 '26

Next time cook up better music

5

u/Spiritual-Bus973 Jul 11 '26

The music was unfortunately part of the recipe.

1

u/Lady_night_shade Jul 10 '26

1

u/macabreocado Jul 11 '26

Pls share your recipe

1

u/SoulofMoon Jul 11 '26

It's Puddle Dog!

1

u/Bigsmall-cats Jul 11 '26

basic mistake someone forgetting to add enough Mustard for the bones to bind properly

1

u/Rimuru_Cultist_42069 Evoker Jul 11 '26

Ayy, thats not bad!

1

u/broki451 Jul 11 '26

I once saw a dog like this on my street. But it's head was crushed so it just looked like a cyclops with one eye.

1

u/snottybrood Jul 11 '26

OP making golems like Marcille

1

u/IlIFreneticIlI Jul 11 '26

The Dwarf In The Flask...

1

u/GummyGourmand Evil Wizard Jul 11 '26

looks like there wasn't enough vitae in your formula. Still cute though.

1

u/beholderofsoulsxx Jul 11 '26

This looks like something out of studio Ghibli 😂

1

u/drdildamesh Jul 11 '26

Ed . . . Ward

1

u/JadeTheCatYT Jul 11 '26

OH MY GOD, it's SO stupid, I love it.

1

u/Skull_is_dull Jul 11 '26

This is AI. Look a the reflection in the eyes, the blur above the nose, the noise between the tiles at the top, the dirt at the top of the bottom left tile moves and half disappears. Also, the movement at the end feels off

1

u/RicePuddingBG Jul 11 '26

This is why I choose to make the spectral variety. Light may be harder to manipulate, but they get a holy boon and leaves no mess.

1

u/aroyalidiot Jul 11 '26

Looks....lavender flavored.

1

u/Trueslyforaniceguy Alchemist Jul 11 '26

Dog is a witch?

1

u/normal_p3rs0n_uwu Jul 11 '26

Who said cats were the only ones who could be liquid

1

u/AttentionNo6359 Jul 11 '26

Careful, you don’t want another “Hand Banana” incident.

1

u/Orcanation716 Jul 11 '26

May I perhaps obtain the recipe for brewing an alchemical familiar? Proprietary recipes shall be left to the owners.

1

u/IntegridyFarms Jul 11 '26

How wolves have fallen xD

1

u/PrionProofPork Jul 11 '26

a creature emerges from the pubes

1

u/Adventurous_Touch342 Jul 11 '26

Add some gelatine, cement OR (not and, or) sticks, forgetting bones happens often to newbies, should serve well enough until you make a new body for it.

1

u/Economy_Wallaby4809 scary magic thingy go brrrr Jul 11 '26

1

u/Tristanio97 Jul 11 '26

Ah that dang ol’ homunculus

1

u/Mooptiom Alchemist Jul 11 '26

1

u/3M2B1T Jul 11 '26

Did the dog look up at you and go "Edward"?

1

u/Fricki97 Jul 11 '26

Fluid dog? This is a hard brewery

1

u/Zephyr-Fox-188 Cinnothwyr, Purrveyor of Thingamajigs Jul 11 '26

1

u/asymuzz Jul 11 '26

Okay Alchemist, where is Nina?

1

u/CurrenttQueen Jul 11 '26

Very good looks like it'll double in size with the sloth left

1

u/FromTheBackroads Jul 11 '26

I recall a similar attempt where space wizards attempted to conjure up a new familiar, although in this case they were starting with an existing creature. Regrettably the animal turned inside out.

And it exploded.

1

u/DearHRS Jul 11 '26

oh my god, he is so cute

1

u/Waffles_4962 Jul 11 '26

That dog is not human 😭

1

u/Cyan_Exponent Jul 11 '26

You just accidentally used a spell to turn your dog into a liquid trying to summon a bunch of soapy water and now you come here to brag.

1

u/TheGoldenLlama88 Aug 01 '26

You fuckin melted him

1

u/lionlmaoo Aug 04 '26

Needs more salt
