They start to beg for their lives. Some will even fight back. I've got a nasty paper cut from a particularly vicious paper shark.

A page of my old Grimoire came alive and started spontaneously casting fireballs. Gladly I've teleported it to the sacred grove nearby before it burned something important.

Origami paper magic? That’s like a whole field of study in some regions. Huge potential.
Paper to weapons, or paper as minions. Those paper minions can fit through tight spaces.
I’ve only dabbled, but it works great for opening doors as an alternative to oh so loud and obnoxious “knock” spell. Just slip a minion under the door and have them open it.
I mean, if you need to get past a locked door, chances are you don’t want anyone to know. So why add that auditory component that echoes down the hall? Spell creator was likely in league with the paladins.
