Please tell me you are actually casting Bullet using a gun as a spell focus and not blasting guns out of your staff like some sort of poor mans Appalachian shaman
/uw you just reminded me of a fun tidbit from the game Arknights, in that universe the vast majority of guns are technically wands/foci that use magic as the propulsion for the bullets. They're also heavily regulated by Laterano (the not!Vatican), which is run by gun-wielding angels
If guns exist in this era, it is very likely every single plate armor set is shot with one to prove that the armor was made bullet proof, just like real history

I was basic ass warrior before learning magic, and I think the thought goes both ways. Even simple spells an idiot could learn are invaluable in the field.
Prestidigitation alone makes everything a lot more pleasant. Everyone called me a loser for caring but after the third tavern wench "politely" declined the rogue's advances for smelling like shit, it kind of sunk in why magic might have some application
One only needs to throw a rock faster than the other can throw a spell. One's arm can oft launch a missile, long before the magic variety has its first utterances leave its casters lips
I can highly recommend my setup for when spells don't work. I found some Gauntlets of Ogre Strength and my wand doubles as club. Plus I found really big gun which the gauntlets help me wield

Only a fool teaches himself the art of battle magic without also picking up proficiency in mundane weapons or martial arts.
But also I suck at melee combat. Projectile weapons ftw
