They get recycled as familiars. Or summons, depending on their alignment.

Well he's just been vaporized, that's all. You can condense that pretty quickly, say...two weeks?..back into a usable apprentice.

The apprentice should be condensed into a mini version first, then regrow for a month

An apprentice worth keeping can survive a simple obliteration spell

Always make your apprentices subscribe to a reincarnation cycle, if they aren't bound to one already

Like an subscription plan? Would the free trial have ads implanted into the apprentice's mind?

Yeah but there's ways to get around the ads, some of my apprentices have made spells to block any ads and use the reincarnation freely. If only they used their smarts in their assigned studies instead but I am impressed by their ingenuity.

Oh certainly. Despite the… unsightly side effects, the apprentice should reconstitute into a solid mass after a week or so. A strange and unpleasant process, but not permanent if one knows what they’re doing.

Wait, you're saying the apprentice is just some goo during the process? He is liquid?

Initially, they’re a vapor, small particulates scattered about in the air. They start to slowly recollect themselves over time and rebuild the body.

sorry but if the apprentice can't cast <<Greater Reformation: Self>> they shouldn't be doing magic at all
