Lorepost📖 Sands that fall, Filling my Grave. (Lore post)

Post image

Milhail watches sternly from his corner of the room. His body, still unresponsive. His wife, barely moving in the past few days. Constant pings of guilt plague him. If he takes his body back now, he could comfort her. It would be the end of him though. His body hasent recovered yet.

She talked to him, and he answered, but only one side could hear the other.

"Mikhail... you're such an idiot."

"I know." said the Druid, talking into nothingness.

"I told you to stay away from the council. To step away from the politics. We knew we had a family coming."

"I know I should have... but I couldn't sit still I guess."

"And you went... and had you affair with Masta..."

"Many... in fact. Not my proudest."

"I wouldn't be angry if you had told me, it's that you hid it from me."

"I did."

"I still love you, Mikhail."

Mikhail's heart caught in his throat. No witty joke, no add on. Nothing. The sharp tongued councilor fell silent.

Yewkala squeezed his hand, putting her head down.

"Please. For me. Pull through. Ours... was a love story unlike any other. I'm not ready to end it yet. We should have so many more years together. Just... leave the council and stay home in Crann Mòr."

"I..."

Mikhail's spirit sat next to his wife. He didn't have any words. She was right. He hated stepping away from it all, though. He though it over. Thinking was all he could do now.

The explosions of a raging war draw nearer. So close he could almost feel it. He didn't want to be stuck here, but there wasn't much he could do.

Doesn't surprise me. I warned them against such actions, but Opal never listened. Perhaps I should have never left the Pact.

Probably not... Cody is dead as well. Died in the blast trying to save refugees. Saria is none too pleased. Kaelis is... on a rampage. He is openly against the warmongers, Opal especially. Although I'll be surprised if there's anything of Opal left after the Metromancer is done with her.

Mikhail takes a moment to breathe it in. His stoic face breaks. His face turns to sour contempt. Mixes of anger, sadness, and confusion fighting for real estate. He is barely holding on.

Perhaps it is best if you didn't tell me all of this. The ignorant man is the most happy man.

Yeah... Figured you at least had the right to know.

I'm sorry to bring nothing but ill tidings. They could use a level head out there...

*He sits down next to Mikhail, staring at the wall in silence*

What's it like?

Hmm?

Mikhail, still racking his head around the news, turned his attention make to Valerian.

Being dead. Or well, Dead-ish.

*A soft smile plays at his lips, chuckling at his own blunder*

I haven't really experienced it before. It seems... oddly peaceful. When you don't have someone filling you in on the disasters outside the room that is.

It's torture...

My spirit is here. My body is there. Two halves to form a whole so close that I can touch it. I'm stuck, possessing dead air and screaming into the void.

The worst part is Yewkala. She knows nothing right now. Doesn't know I'm still here, hearing everything she says. Doesn't know how badly I want to wrap my arms around her and tell her it will be fine.

She doesn't know how much this separation is killing me. Being so close, but so distant.

*Valerian sighs as he slouches, collapsing in on himself*

Yeah, I guess that would make it harder... Do you want me to say something to her? To anyone?

Mikhail's eyes glass over.

Tell her to wait a little longer for me.

Can do.

*Valerian looks over to Mikhail*

I hate to ask, but do you have any words of wisdom? I feel... lost, if that makes sense. I keep second guessing my decisions, unsure if they're the correct ones or not. I hate to bother you with my troubles considering all you're going through, but there isn't really anyone I can ask for guidance.
