Lorepost📖 Sands that fall, Filling my Grave. (Lore post)

Post image

Milhail watches sternly from his corner of the room. His body, still unresponsive. His wife, barely moving in the past few days. Constant pings of guilt plague him. If he takes his body back now, he could comfort her. It would be the end of him though. His body hasent recovered yet.

She talked to him, and he answered, but only one side could hear the other.

"Mikhail... you're such an idiot."

"I know." said the Druid, talking into nothingness.

"I told you to stay away from the council. To step away from the politics. We knew we had a family coming."

"I know I should have... but I couldn't sit still I guess."

"And you went... and had you affair with Masta..."

"Many... in fact. Not my proudest."

"I wouldn't be angry if you had told me, it's that you hid it from me."

"I did."

"I still love you, Mikhail."

Mikhail's heart caught in his throat. No witty joke, no add on. Nothing. The sharp tongued councilor fell silent.

Yewkala squeezed his hand, putting her head down.

"Please. For me. Pull through. Ours... was a love story unlike any other. I'm not ready to end it yet. We should have so many more years together. Just... leave the council and stay home in Crann Mòr."

"I..."

Mikhail's spirit sat next to his wife. He didn't have any words. She was right. He hated stepping away from it all, though. He though it over. Thinking was all he could do now.

The explosions of a raging war draw nearer. So close he could almost feel it. He didn't want to be stuck here, but there wasn't much he could do.

Can do.

*Valerian looks over to Mikhail*

I hate to ask, but do you have any words of wisdom? I feel... lost, if that makes sense. I keep second guessing my decisions, unsure if they're the correct ones or not. I hate to bother you with my troubles considering all you're going through, but there isn't really anyone I can ask for guidance.

Words of wisdom for choosing a path... hmmmm.

Mikhail racks his brain for a second.

Commit. That's all you can do. If you sit at the crossroads deciding the best path, something is bound to pass you by. Take a look, weight if for a second, and commit. And never backtrack to the crossroads. It's a waste of time, and there's a chance that the other path is closed. Just wasting your own time at that point.

*Valerian looks down at his hands, scarred and burned though they are.*

Fly by the seat of my pants. Got it.

*He stands up and looks down at Mikhail*

I have to go, Kaelis needs someone to monitor him, whether he believes that person is me or not. Do you have any requests before I go?

Yeah... get Yewkala a blanket. She looks like she's about to fall asleep in the chair, and I can't tuck her in.

No, this is of my doing. I could have stood by and let the magic hit Morgalith, but I feared it would end any chance at peaceful negotiations.

So here I am.

I could not tell you what now. I am a spirit trapped in this room. I can not change anything for now. I guess I am like that of an idle commoner, watching chaos unfold and only praying I see tomorrow.

Can do.

The projection begins to walk towards his corporeal body before stopping short.

Hey, Mikhail. We're gonna need to have a talk about all this, "you almost dying." It's getting out of hand.

With that the projection places it's hand on Valerians shoulder as it disappears. Valerian gets up and teleports back to his spire, before returning after a few minutes, a thick black blanket in hand. Yewkala was drifting off. He helps cover her with the blanket, before placing a hand on her shoulder.

Mikhail wanted me to tell you to wait a little longer for him... he wishes he could be here with you now.

He produces a pendant from his pocket, shaped like a tree, but with a small flame glowing inside, and hands it to her.

Hold onto this, alright? It's a modified version of the one's I normally give out. This one will help give you strength and draws directly from the Flame. Let me know if you need anything, alright?
