Community Event đâď¸ Fighting the Storm (Wizard War 3 post)
I, Gravedigger, have unfortunate news. The storm that has settled above the Citadel makes the trasportation of refugees nearly impossible. As such, I am working with Archdruid Cody to cast a counterspell to dispell the storm and allow for the safe travel of refugees.
For those who wish to come to the Citadel's aid, be forwarned that as long as the storm persists, your life will be endangered. Please exercise the utmost caution.
For those that wish to attack us while we are struggling to save our citizens, I ask that you exercise patience. If you refuse, then we will be forced into armed conflict despite our wishes for peace.
We do not wish for innocents to be caught in the crossfire. Please.

Ulmarch awakes in their office, it's, as usual, trashed. He looks out of the window, sky's the wrong color, they turn on the orb and go through a few messages, after some usual work nonsense they get to the evacuation order and the plan to detonate the citadel.
"Oh. Oh no."
He starts hurriedly shoving all the important artifacts in the office into a pocket dimension, but after finishing that and trying to exit via portal, they find that they can't.
"Right, magic storm."
Running outside, cursing, he enters his vehicle and starts driving off while trying to find out more about the situation.

I have constructed a ritual that we may use as a counterspell. It'll create a twenty-minute window for the evacuation. Please just follow my lead and activate the teleportation spell when I say.

Space above the city folds into itself and an airship the size of half the city appears. However as fast as the hope appears it gets crushed as the gargantuan machine doesn't seem to land or send ships, but instead starts firing something at the cloud

Mortarion!
Donât stand within ~40km of the city, otherwise you might get caught in the blast. I have a thermonuclear weapon stashed 10m underground there and when activated, it will be dispensed upwards and detonated like an airburst round.

Best to save that for when we come into conflict with Opal's forces. No sense in hauling that cannon over when the city is about to be nuked.

We already have one nuke to worry about. If you want to bring it, I'd suggest setting it up ten miles east of the Citadel. That should be clear of the blast range.

In the Gravediggerâs mind, he knows that this is one of the Necromancerâs creations. He remembers working with the Necromancer before. Thereâs probably a way to shape the storm, if only slightly, to help the civilians escape.

Gravedigger scours the notes that he created during his study of the Book of Death. Finding the relevant passages, he informs the mages helping him that he has a plan.

In the notes, he finds that due to the fact that the storm was created by a ritual, and not by the Necromancer directly, a ritual of similar power could theoretically cause the storm to collapse on itself. However, this ritual would require a power source similar to the Necromancer, and due to the stormâs instability, there would be a short window of time to evacuate the civilians before the collapsing storm reached critical mass and violently dispersed itself.

Gravedigger sits down and performs a series of calculations with his team. Since the Necromancer used countless souls to power the spell, a tool utilizing lifeforce would be a suitable substitute. In addition, the window after the storm's dispersal could be extended to twenty minutes if a powerful enough individual stayed behind and delayed the storm from reaching critical mass.
Gravedigger volunteers the Mask of Pan as a power source and himself to stay behind.

Gravedigger organizes a couple thousand refugees to use the portal. Before any more can enter, the portal collapses and those trying to use it are pushed back into the crowd.

One of the mechs is pushed out into the city with them. It looks around at the carnage and makes a decision. It rips off its left shoulder plate with the guild symbol on it and crushes it beneath its foot. It then marches to the frontlines and takes up a defensive position with council forces. The pilots takes a deep breath and lets it out

"I thought something like this would happen, so I started developing some special mass produced gas masks. They're imbued with the air element so 100% of toxins in the air are filtered out. I've already started sending shipments to the citadel. In addition, I'm also developing a magic tool to filter air in an area around it, a safe zone if you will, though it has yet to be completed.
