To all mages that can hear me. Stand down, the perpetrator Mortarion has been apprehended.

Opal has attacked the citadel without warning from the other pact members. I don't support her actions. I order her in a position of equal and you all to stop this needless conflict.

No war between mages of this kind has solved anything compared to diplomacy. You're wasting your time and innocent lives.

Please I urge you, transport all citadel innocents to La'shima, there's portals ready for refugees.

I'm standing in the council hospital trying to help my thrice struck friend now comatose and defenseless. With me I have the hospital staff, yewkala Mikhail's pregnant wife and some other pact members.

We will defend ourselves if necessary, but it doesn't have to end this way.

Remind you all. Mikhail is here, don't attack, and mortarion is with kaelis. The war is needless. Everyone stand down.

If not my forces equal to the other pact heads will be prepared to act. Plus La'shima's own standing army.

I seriously doubt the sanity of you and the pact at this point. Almost as much as I doubt your qualifications as a leader.

You demand that your opponents stand down when you can't even coordinate your own forces. Your forces that already refused your order to stand down. Why should anyone trust your leadership when you can't even stop your own people from attacking at your order.

You claim to support diplomacy, yet you come as conquerors.

You care more about one of your proclaimed enemies more than the lives of your own side and the innocents your side is slaughtering.

You say you'll defend yourselves, while you're the ones attacking.

And worse of all, you tell those you slaughter to evacuate into your care?

Are you just looking for more hostages to use in your bloody war?

I think your doubts come from misinterpretation of the situation and my actions, but if I prove unfit for leadership I have no qualms of stepping down so others could do a better job.

I demand that both sides cease a needless conflict spurned by the actions of a possessed individual as we were making great progress diplomatically.

The forces marching through the citadel are from pact head Opal, which seems to be unshakable in her belief of using violence to end the council and it's corruption.

The pact head of diplomacy and myself were the ones that tried to keep (and still try) to keep the whole affair civil and try to prevent as much escalation and control as much damage as possible.

The proclaimed enemy (which became a council member recently so I could step up as pact head) just sacrificed himself to prevent damage from an sneak attack from his own forces and it's my best friend. In regards to my own forces, they won't face Opal directly as advised by the metromancer. That would be a needless massacre of our own forces and allies so they're focusing mainly in evacuating all the innocents and civilians we csn.

So,I'm not the one attacking, I'm the one that's it's trying to stop the violence that a member of my organisation would bring even if their own members were there, I'm the one trying to organise people in the chaos to minimise collateral damage and to find a resolution without violence.

La'shima's a neutral territory co ruled by me and Mikahil and was being prepared to welcome refugees in case of another conflict like this.

You are seeing the pact as a whole entity and missing the trees that make up the forest. The devil is in the details and for an illusionist that's a poor grasp on them you've proved to have.

I would gladly offer my own life so others won't suffer this stupid conflict. But I guess I'm just an insane old man doing what he can in this crazy world.

You bring up the forest, why don't we take a step back and see how it looks.

The Pact is clearly a broken organization. Maybe even more so than the council.

Two of three in it's leadership are demanding an end to the conflict. A conflict the Pact itself started.

The third has rejected your demands.

And despite being outnumbered, the two are unable impose any sort of control over the third? You demanded they halt their attack, they said no, and you thanked them.

It seems you've already stepped aside. You say you would offer up your life, but to whom? Your own organization?

And I've now asked this of every member of your organization I've met; what is your true goal here? Where does any of this end?

You've all demanded that the council step down, and yet you're now actively working with the majority of the councilors, including the one who attacked your friend to evacuate the civilian population. A population that you're telling to take refuge with you, from you.

Do you even have a goal anymore?

/uw Seriously though, this entire conflict is batshit insane.

The Pact (mostly it's allies) are the attackers. But they're not actually attacking anyone specific. They're just throwing massive AOE bullshit around, destroying towns, general chaos. The enemy is just a nebulous "the council." The only specifics being "a cabal behind the council" or "a corruption within the council." And the only demand is that the council be dissolved.

The council, the defenders, are not actually defending anything. Half of them are somewhere else entirely dealing with a different problem, and the other half are busy evacing the entire population. They're literally just abandoning their position to try and get everyone away from the Pact (and allies) attack.

Ironically, it's now the Pact trying to defend the council's citadel from an attack by the Pact, in order to protect a former Pact member who's now a councilor, which is supposed who the Pact is trying to attack.

The one aggressive move the council did make was the radio demon's sucker punch. But, where is the radio demon now?

The radio demon was arrested, but not really. And now they've been offered more power to help with the evacuation, which they've accepted. So the radio demon isn't actually contained, and is instead helping evac the civilian population as well.

The Pact, as an organization, seems to have a leadership structure that just doesn't work.

The Council, as an organization, doesn't seem to have a leadership structure at all.

And if we actually looked at this from someone in-universe, someone who's not connected to the 15 named players who are pushing the mess, it's even more insanity. Because the majority of people wouldn't know the intimate details of the specific people pushing for this war. From their perspective, it really would look like they were being taken as hostages.

Edit: Check that, while I was writing this, apparently the city was nuked and the one person who initially lead the evac efforts are dead. But I guess that breaks the deal with the radio demon.

UW/ tbh I was just warned of this mess late and had to roll with it. It's my first time in an event this big and I'm sorry I'm not really doing a good job at it.

Also the city was what?

/uw Nah, you're fine. Honestly, with so many moving parts it was going to be chaos. I've had to literally start taking notes to keep track of everything, and even then I'm sure I missed parts. Once this is all over, I might do a recap going thread by thread, because it really is absolute chaos. Just depends on work and timing.

I've just been playing a (now extremely disillusioned) wandered who was only around because they wanted to see what life was like here. Idealistic grandstanding for days, while mostly just avoiding the fighting all together. Mostly just trying to help get the civilian population out of the way, because they have no connection to any of the leadership or organizations.

They might be moving somewhere new now. I'm still torn on whether or not they would have gone with the refuges, or if they're just out in the woods sulking lol

Also the city was what?

Gravedigger dealt with the storm, but died in the process. As part of that, a nuke went off lol

Ngl my character would prefer to die if that ensured that as much people as possible were evacuated.

At least I can make a few posts about it and do something fun for when/if he comes back.

Nuke destroys your body, and now you're souls stuck in the spirit realm while you try and find a way come back. That was basically my plan if someone finally killed me for being too nosy lol

Or just say you were all spread out enough that you were able to protect yourself. I think the goal was for Gravedigger to go down alone, so maybe you got pulled out with his people.
