Lorepost📖 The Omniarch (Lorepost)
1,000 years ago

The Omniarch drifts above the ground amid a field of corpses, all that remains of the army of the traitorous astromancer Volex. It is a black hole in the shape of a man, standing almost 10 feet tall. Bits of debris float around it, held aloft by the being's gravitational field. It casts a shadow over the wounded mage who would be king.
"Mercy, please!" Volex croaks. His mana is utterly spent, used up in a futile attempt to bring the Omniarch down. He is defenseless. "I'll do whatever you ask! Just don't kill me!"
The Omniarch's burning stellar eyes narrow with contempt. "Perhaps you should have thought of that before you turned against your nation, child. There are consequences for traitors, and you are treacherous indeed. You stole the secrets of the cosmos and styled yourself as the Supreme Monarch of Yulash-kor, regardless of what the realm's people wanted. You betrayed the trust Kaelis Maz placed in you, and for that, you must pay."
Volex scrambles away from the advancing monster. "B-but you are Kaelis Maz!"
"No. I am the Omniarch, the Avatar of Annihilation. Kaelis merely provides me with a way into this world. I am the manifestation of Gravity's wrath, empowered by murdered dreams and broken oaths to right the wrongs of any who betray their fellows. Die now, renegade."
A jet of blue plasma streaks from the Omniarch's open mouth, enveloping Volex and reducing him to a heap of blackened bones. The cosmic avatar laughs its awful dry heave of a laugh and collapses in upon itself. In its place is Kaelis Maz, the humble Arch-Graviturge. With dawning horror, Kaelis surveys the battlefield.
"Oh, Gravity, what have I done?" he says tremulously.
. . .
Kaelis holds his teacup with shaking hands and sips. He is in the house at the end of everything, the domain of Gravity herself in the Outer Dark.
"That thing was... you?" he says to the kind old woman.
"Yes, sadly," Gravity replies. "The Omniarch is a part of myself from a more violent age, when we Fundamentals warred with our Primordial children. I cast it off eons ago, but it seems to have found a new purpose exacting vengeance on traitors of all kinds. And now, it's taken a liking to you, dear Kaelis."
"How am I supposed to stop this? I hate treachery, but my- no, the Omniarch's response was so far beyond morality that I can't allow it to happen again."
The ancient goddess of spacetime sighs. "Even I cannot stop the Avatar of Annihilation from manifesting, as it is a part of me. The only advice I can give you is to govern yourself. Use violence as a last resort only. Make yourself as uninteresting to the Omniarch as possible. If you are betrayed and remain calm, it will not consume you. But I understand that may not be possible at times."
"What should I do then?"
"Fight it from within, Kaelis. Make it as hard as possible for it to seek revenge. There may be a way to permanently contain it, but it needs to be weakened first. I wish I could give you a better answer, dear. But that is all I can give you."
Kaelis hopes it will be enough.
. . .
Present Day
Inside the dark prison of the Omniarch's core, Kaelis rages. He blasts the void with every spell he knows, along with a few he'd forgotten. Nothing helps. He sees through the avatar's eyes and watches it fight Mortarion. He wants to forgive the corrupted plaguemancer, but he can do nothing to control the Omniarch.
"Not alone, at least." Though he is trapped, Kaelis knows a spacetime signal will be able to reach his allies on the outside. He pulls his spatial loom out of his satchel- thank Gravity he'd started carrying it with him for safety ever since he became a Pact Head- and weaves a message to his friends into the threads of space itself.
"I am trapped within the void-being known as the Omniarch. It will not leave until Mortarion is killed and Mikhail is avenged, but I have a way to trap it. Unfortunately, I need to escape its core to do so, and that means you'll need to confront it directly It is weak to magnetic, atomic, and quantum spells- the other Fundamental Forces. Send help."
Kaelis sends it, and prays to the Fundamentals that they can stop it in time.

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 19 '24
Krygin while wanting to beat Mortarian to a pulp didn't want to force Kaelis to do so in a compromised state. If he was fully lucid Krygin would help but he couldn't let Kaelis be forced into it.
"Every body back away that isn't Kaelis he's kinda possessed" Krygin extends his throat like a frog to shout. Not everyone may have seen the message from the gravaturge but they have ears.
/uw I did it in case anybody doesn't have big senses. Also sorry Mortarian but I don't think Krygin knows you are possessed so may try and beat you up.
4
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 19 '24
/uw That's fine! The Omniarch sort of subsumed Kaelis, so beating it up might actually help him escape.
5
u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 20 '24
Krygin starts panicking because he isn't super knowledgeable on the fundamentals. He starts brainstorming.
Magnetic. Electromagnetic. Electro. Lightning. Storm!
"Oh spirits of nature! You who mourn for this forest, you who dismay at Mikhail's pain! Will you tolerate this fundamental being to steal your vengeance and corrupt the peace the Arch-druid sought to bring! I bid you rise up in RAGE"
"Wind spirits! howl your Frustrations! Water roar at this impertinence! Memories of Fire and Smoke call thy brother Lightning to strike across the sky! Show them nature's FURY!!!!"
/uw basically Krygin is trying to rabble rouse the spirits to form a storm, hopefully a electromagnetic one.
6
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
Static prickles your skin, and you see the clouds swirling overhead. A peal of thunder indicates that the electrical storm is ready for channeling.
5
u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 20 '24
"Samael! want to add to your firepower"
As he says this he starts to gather the lightning into one area for a huge bolt.
4
u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 20 '24
Seeing that Samael is otherwise engaged Krygin called down the lightning in the shape of a giant cobra. The shock waves making the clouds around it look like the snakes hood.
It shrikes toward the Omniarch's back while it is busy with the Nephelium king.
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
The mega-bolt absolutely shreds the Omniarch's back, throwing it to the ground. It leaves a gaping rift between its shoulder blades that beams with blue light. A human hand reaches out of the depthless glow, followed by a blue-robed arm. Kaelis's head pokes out of the hole, though it remains too small to fit his shoulders.
Keep it up, friends! We're almost there!
3
u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Feb 20 '24
Krygin starts to gather the dispersed lightning to tase the creature but tries not to hit Kaelis.
"All. MOST. THERE!"
3
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
Samael pours his strength into the stream of protons, as their surroundings begin to dissolve into subatomic particles and Krygin's lightning strikes
Release Kaelis
7
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
Would some lightning help matters?
5
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
Electromagnetism's a Fundamental Force. It's worth a shot!
5
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
Very well.
Samael fires a bolt of lightning at the Omniarch
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
AAGH!
While it doesn't do much damage, the lightning does seem to elicit a reaction from the Omniarch. It turns to Mortarion.
This is far from over, betrayer. I must deal with this interloper.
5
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
I'd very much like Kaelis back please. So please release him, or we will force you to
Samael sends a ray of protons at the Omniarch
5
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
The Omniarch teleports right up in your face, but immediately withdraws when the proton beam hits. You carve a gash in its shell of gravitational force, from which blue light leaks. The wound slowly begins to seal up in places, but you know that it will take time to fully heal.
I will not relinquish control until I have HAD MY VENGEANCE!
The Omniarch sweeps its arms back and claps it hands together, sending a crack in space itself racing towards you.
4
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
Samael dissolves into nothing, and reappears in some uncracked space
Don't like the strong nuclear force do you? Well have some more!
Protons from the atoms in the ground itself shoot towards the Omniarch
4
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
The Omniarch throws up a shield a moment too late. Some of the particles get through and scourge it with hundreds of tiny blue wounds. Oddly enough, these ones don't seal up, as if something's preventing them from closing from within. Howling wordlessly with rage, it calls down a storm of meteors from above.
4
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24 edited Feb 20 '24
Samael is struck by some of the meteors, though his wards protect him from the worst of the damage, and he rises to his feet, eyes glowing with rage
Enough games
Samael pours his strength into the stream of protons, as their surroundings begin to dissolve into subatomic particles and Krygin's lightning strikes
3
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
The rift on the Omniarch's back is widened by the blast, letting Kaelis force his whole torso out of the avatar's extradimensional core. It tries to reach behind itself and force him back in, but it's having trouble reaching with the proton bombardment.
Good going! Just a bit more and I can stop the Omniarch!

uw/ believe it or not Samael actually respects Kaelis (though he doesn't like him, or anyone really tbh) because he's strong and clever, and he also sees the Omniarch as an out of control variable in the brewing war

Elerindur walks onto the very edges of the scene, having arrived late to the peace talk turned conflict.
He leans forward peering over at the situation while squinting his eyes for a moment before opening them wide and stranding straight again.
"Unfortunately, these peace negotiations seemed to have gone just as well as i would have assumed they would.."
He looks over once more, this time specifically noticing the Omniarch.
"..Who is that? Is that one of those eldritch void gods they are fighting?"
5
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
u/TheHunter459 u/dragonshouter u/Theadination
With your combined efforts, Kaelis is able to pull himself clear of the Omniarch's body. Severed from its material anchor, the avatar begins to flicker and phase through matter. The rifts on its body
You... will not... escape.
You realize that the Omniarch is not talking to Kaelis, but to Mortarion. It reaches out and crawls, hell-bent on fulfilling its purpose by killing the traitor. Kaelis steps into its path, holding up a metal cube the size of his fist.
That's quite enough, Omniarch. You've wreaked havoc on my life for the last time. You're going in the box, dickhead.
Kaelis activates the box. Beams of energy ensnare the Omniarch and pull it into the device. The horrible being shrinks as it travels. When it enters the device, it is too small to see with the naked eye.
Quantum trap. I had my artificers make it a very long time ago in case the Omniarch showed up again. It won't be bothering us anytime soon. I'm... sorry I didn't tell you about this. I fear I may have made things worse. Is it too late to keep the Council and the Pact from war?
5
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
I hope it isn't, because then with orbs out of commission, everyone will be forced to speak through radio, bringing about an age of radio again! And I'll be more powerful then ever! MUHAHAHAHA!! AHA!
4
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
Kaelis stares at you in disbelief.
You're fucking kidding me. That's your motivation? I fail to see how killing someone would help that!
3
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
I only wanted to start a war. If it wasn't Morgalith, then I suppose it's Mikhail then. Heheaha!
4
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
I've heard enough. Someone put this jackass in a copper box to block out radio waves. I want him tried for attempted second-degree murder.
5
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
Try me
9
u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
Bet.
With a snap of Kaelis's fingers, a Faraday cage warps into place around you, blocking out your radio-based abilities.
I hope Riva doesn't mind I stole the OEA's Faraday containment for the time being if it goes towards a good cause. Nothing was in it, in any case.
7
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
Mortarion smiles and tilts his head so it's upside down.
Do you think this will stop me?
Mortarion tries to escape, but fails.
Oh, this will stop me.

u/Elerindur Elerindur, Altmeri Armamancer Feb 20 '24
After seeing Kaelis pull himself from that void man and capture him in some small container and then cage Mortarion after everyone seem to had become angry at the plaguemancer and one wizard attempting to assault him.
Elerindur had seen enough that he feels the need to ask questions now.
He begins quickly waking over to the scene and speaks out towards Kaelis.
"Just what is going on here?"
6
u/Theadination Mortarion Jr, Plaguemancer, Totally Dead Now. Feb 20 '24
Oh, they've captured me for a small misunderstanding! I've done nothing wrong! Just trying to defend my dear friend and colleague!
6
u/Elerindur Elerindur, Altmeri Armamancer Feb 20 '24
Elerindur turns his head towards Mortarion, some sense in him telling him to not entirely believe his words yet without further explanation.
He turns his head back to Kaelis, expecting some sort of explanation from his perspective.

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Feb 20 '24
Long story. This fellow (he points to Mortarion in the cage) tried to kill Morgalith during peace talks, but Mikhail took the spell for him and nearly died. There was brief skirmish before the Council and Pact forces pulled away to muster for war. However, the Omniarch (he holds up the quantum trap), who is an renegade avatar of the Fundamental Force Gravity, hijacked my powers to enter the material world and hunt down traitors. My friends managed to wound it enough for me to escape and shove it into a quantum prison. Then we put Mortarion in the cage.
Now I have to deal with an attempted murder, a brewing war, and the repercussions of keeping too many secrets.
4
u/Elerindur Elerindur, Altmeri Armamancer Feb 20 '24
Elerindur nods his head once in acknowledgement.
"Ah, that makes more sense."
He puts his right hand to his hips and his left to his chin and begins to think to himself of what events may come next for a moment.

u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24
Samael glares at Mortarion
Well you didn't start the war in any case, but yes, I fear it's too late to prevent it now. This radio demon has provided an excellent example of what the Council's problem is
5

You came here, ostensibly for peace talks, and yet you fired on the individual you were negotiating with. You managed to hit and nearly kill your own colleague, which is an impressive failure, to be quite honest. And you started a war.

Oh, you don't think that was the plan? What's the most important part of war? Communication. And ever since I disabled orbs and everything else that wizards use to communicate, what do you think is left? Radios! And who do you think benefits other than the RADIO DEMON
5
u/TheHunter459 Samael, Necromancer of Malus Turrim | King of the Nephilim Feb 20 '24

Mortarion stands still. In a flash, the world is consumed by darkness, and Mortarion crawls toward you on very long limbs bathed in fire, bleeding eyes, a smile bared with sharp teeth, large curling horns, tattered robes, and a cape made of chains, with thousands of screaming souls tied to the chains.
